Smedts, Tomlinson, Boumann, Paine, Yagmoor, Wilkes, S.Shaw, Hombsch, Brennan, Spurr, Darley or Clarke? Please don't bring up a name that isn't on this list. I just want opinion on the best option from within this lot.
That's a tough list Jason. I'd say S. Shaw as a slow burning cash cow with great JS. Probably tied with Clarke depending on teams. Don't like Yagmoor or Paine's JS. If Spurr is elevated he is far and away my choice from this list. I'm in a similar predicament to you regarding this list.
Am I crazy to be leaning towards Darley? Or does the fact that he isn't even an emergency mean that he is considered much further back in standing around the club than first thought?
I like what I've seen of Boumann, I question his job security though. Not really a list of names screaming for selection.
Darley looked good throughout the NAB cup. Even though he isn't named this week, doesn't mean count him out. The GWS rotation policy will see him in the side soon but I have a nasty feeling that it will be between him and Bugg for a spot. Spurr should get early games with the injury's Freo have in their back line.
Freo only have one spot for LTI and that's going to be taken by Pearce, unless they sustain another LTI between now and the season opener Spurr won't be available for selection
Clarke I guess if $$ aren't a problem but it's not a list that fills you with that warm and fuzzy feeling. Darley is a curly one. No doubt he will get game time but when and how much is the million $ question. Sorry Jason, didn't really help. Personally am leaning towards Paine at D9 at this stage.
For my 2c Tomlinson is likely to get more game time than any other you have listed, I have him Shaw and Smedts from that group.
Making my TS forum debut here... better late than never.. I like Spurr if he gets named Rd 1. I'm now eyeing Darley off as the first potential backline downgrade assuming he gets picked in a couple of weeks time.
Depends on who else you have. If you have H Shaw not Yagmoor/Paine/Clarke, if you have Bugg/Townsend probably not Darley/Hombsch, if you have Guthrie probably not Smedts, if you have Birchall probably not Boumann, if you have Broughton probably not Spurr, if you have Goddard probably not Wilkes....go Shaw.
Thanks but I don't mind who else I have in making the decision. Whichever of these rookies I pick will be gone from my team before byes come around, meaning it isn't relevant how many other players from the same club are in my team. Could you possibly stick your neck out and just tell me who you think is the best option?
The thing that worries me with Sam Shaw is in fact JS when Rutten returns. That, plus the fact the whole time he's been on Adelaide's list he's been out injured more than he's played SANFL games!!!
none of these represent the value a GWS mid offers. Id suggest move yr team around and get a more efficient rookie. im sure that will be easy
Seriously Gary, could you please stick your neck out and name one of these guys and not give an obtuse answer? Otherwise, that response is of no help whatsoever.
