Just a quick update to the rumours that were flying around during the long weekend - Irons has definitely been placed back on Port's rookie list with Matthew Lobbe being taken off the LTI list. Can't see Irons getting another chance either, even if another LTI crops up - he's completely spudded in his 2 SANFL games & is a strong possibility to get relegated to reserves level. Lobbe played some good minutes for West's reserves last weekend in his first game back from a dislocated shoulder, so with some more game time and this week, and a few games at SANFL senior level, will come into consideration for AFL selection in the next 8 weeks hopefully - if he does, this could be a bonus for those with Petrie but no other R/F link. Other names cropping up at Port include Jacobs (played his first game after lay off with glandular fever & put in a dominant 29 disposal reserves game - another reserves game then a few at senior SANFL level should see him cherry ripe for an AFL debut in about 5-7 weeks hopefully). Simon Phillips had his first game back from breaking his jaw twice (layed strong tackles, ran out the game at full pace, kicked 3 goals, and wasn't scared to put his head over the ball which is positive considering the nature his injury setbacks - some of his Power team-mates need to take notice of his attitude there). Also, Ben Newton is set for his first game at SANFL level (reserves most likely) after being held back with an ankle injury since being drafted. John Butcher continues to play some strong footy in the SANFL kicking a couple of goals each week & taking some strong contested marks. Andrew Moore is has slowly been building his fitness & finding form at reserves level after being hampered throughout the pre-season with groin troubles.
Great right up mate, don't here alot about the Power in Melb especially their kids. What you reckon will happen with Pittard, will he keep holding his spot, made a big mistake late in the game last week but other then that did alright
Heard a bit about Jacobs recently, seems alright. As for Irons i think i need to strike while the irons cold and get rid of him Totally forgot about Lobbe, had him in my team last year just wasting away on the pine.
Further update - just got back from the doctors to get the news Boak is out this week - suffered concussion at training wednesday night!!! Not sure who has taken his place yet, but the most likely candidate would be Davenport considering he wasn't named for his SANFL team (probably would've been the travelling emergency). Also further updates on the youngsters mentioned in my opening post - Jacobs, Lobbe & Moore have all been named in extended squads for their respective league teams, and Ben Newton will be playing his first game in West's reserves. The interesting one is Lobbe, named at CHB lining up on Power team-mate Butcher!!! @ Fez Can't see any problem with Jasper keeping his spot in the team, coaches are happy with his development and are prepared to entrust him with the bulk of the team's kick-in duties.
