I think Joshua is to blame, Yamumluvsbigcox! Maybe he wasn't happy that Yamum out-scored his very own SC team this week and couldn't get it out of his mind on gameday??? How do we know that Pat didn't just say that he has a "sore tum"? Okay, SERIOUSLY, it was stupid for McGinnity to say what he did, but we actually don't know exactly what was said, so we dont actually know how to approach this and debate it, if all he said was "your mum" then we would say, "Oh big deal, get over it princess" but we don't know. Yep we need to know the context. Is Petterd's mum suffering from cancer or something like that? That's one of the only things that can make McGinnity's comments unacceptable and worthy of suspension. Otherwise come on Ricky HTFU
My point exactly Lucas, unless there is something along the lines of a pre meditated personal attack I really don't see how McGinnity can be sanctioned.
A Collingwood champion Dick Condon was suspended for life for saying to an umpire (Ivo Crapp) "your girl's a bloody whore" Of course he was back playing 2 years later lol. Condon was the inventor of the stab pass, and the first Captain/Coach of the Richmond Football Club.

Today Patrick McGinnity met up with Ricky Petterd after training hours to state his apology about the "your mum" comments made by the Eagles Half-Back McGinnity during the Sunday game of Melbourne vs. West Coast, Patrick McGinnity had already apologised in an interview about the matter, but felt himself that he should do it in person. When asked once again about why he said the comments, McGinnity replied that it was in the spur of the moment and was unhappy with Melbourne forward Ricky Petterd. No complaints were made about "Joshua's (Supercoach) Team", also known as "Yamumluvsbigcox" who many thought was to blame, as his Supercoach team scored 267 more points then McGinnity's, as the Eagles forward was believed to have acted unhappily, as they clashed in a cash-league, McGinnity was fined a further-more $500 for taking part in a money like situation, similiar to betting which the AFL does not rate highly among the players, Joshua escapes with a reprimand of 92.75, and any more involvements with on and off the field problems related to him, will make him in-eligible to win the $50,000 up for grabs in the Supercoach competetion, Joshua's sarcastic comments about the issue, gave him an extra 5 reprimand points, any more unpleasant talk about this matter and his feelings may result in him being banned and in-eligible from Supercoach. Just read on hun that mcginity said he was going to rape ricky peddards mum ! Thats pretty harsh its not like it was a yamums so fat joke and he probably didn't say it in a joking manner . Hopefully he pulls his head in and lets his footy do the taking

Exactly JPK what a load of hogwash. But if Petterd's mum is so fat that she uses the equator as a belt, then what's McGinnity doing saying he wants to engage in relations with her? TBH McGinnity is just a bit part player in the team and won't be missed. I tend to recall some player with their child tattooed on their arm, and there was an issue in the past, but nothing came of it. McG is a soft target. But then again probably so was Petterd. Soft as butter.
Des Headland was reported for striking Adam Selwood (Rd. 3, 2007) after he made an 'inappropriate' comment relating to a tattoo on Headland's arm which depicted his daughter. Headland was found guilty of striking and wrestling but not suspended because of "exceptional and compelling circumstances by way of provocation". So by this logic Pettard could have got away with a few punches on McGinnity. Seems like the AFL is outlawing certain forms of sledging, particularly that dished out by WCE players. Would be interesting to see the outcome if it had been a high profile player rather than McGinnity.
