    hey everyone,

Are we gearing up for a mid season draft in Round 13?

If so, what's the deal... I presume draft order is lowest to highest on the ladder, repeating until everyone has passed.

I am presuming if we have a draft it is optional?
How many players are we allowed to cull?, is there a minimum number to qualify for the draft?
Are we going to have a trade period in the same week, or maybe the week before?

If I understood well enough we weren't having a mid season draft, I may have misunderstood though

Would be hilarious if you guys have a midseason draft.
Because of your late drafting, you should really have been playing through the bye rounds.

The way I understood it, we were having 1 bye round, and there was talk of a draft... just want to know if there is one or there isn't!

I thought we were having one, but I'm with StkT. We just finished our draft and I'm uneasy about delisting my players already. I dont think they would appreciate it and I would like to give them a bit more of a chance to proove themselves.

If we are having a draft, I hope that the amount of players we have to cull to be able to participate is entirely optional.

If we were having one and it was optional, I would probably drop 1 or 2 players just to be able to join in.
    I like a draft.

Lucas, bandit - I'll put my FIXture Committee hat on now

we are playing through all 3 bye rounds. During those 3 rounds, our Teams will be reduced from 15 to 10 scoring players to make it fairer.

As far as I'm aware, The FIXture Committee was not delegated to make a ruling on drafts or trades... So I'm not sure Bandit :)

So, it zeems a decision has been taken that we play on through the bye rounds, albeit with reduced sides.
Does this preclude the foreshadowed draft period during the byes?

My visitation to the ORFFA rules and regs was not very enlightening. It seems they plan to do the draft over R13 and in reverse ladder order. Does that mean we have extra draft picks? How many? Or does it mean we can trade one or more of our existing players for those still available in the draft pool? If anyone can shed some light on this it would be helpful.

Initial thoughts are that (a) we need to quickly settle whether our ladder is determined by percentage or points and (b) make allowance for how long this draft process might take.

Regardless of the observations from SKT and Lucas, if I were the holder of, for example, Murphy, I would, at the very least, like to know if there is going to be an opportunity to trade in or out and when. There has been an unusual number of LTIs to star players, even the HUN thinks so. Personally, I don't have a huge interest in drafting. My players are not injured because they are not playing! However, some coaches might want a dip due to injury, even if it is early days. After all, hilarity is our forte.

    A. Fairest method is by points for. This point has been extensively gone over in one of the ORFFL threads I read and I can see why they went for that, though I initially favoured percentage. In absence of serious argument against, this is what we're going with.

    B. I'm in favour of having a week 13 mid year draft. Really it would only be for a few players as you'd think so soon after our initial draft you would only be getting rid of LTI's and James Sellar. :spud:

I'm mainly in favour of having a mid year draft to allow coaches to replace LTI's. As I'm sure we have all had enough draft excitement in the last month, it would be a good idea to make this one as low key and stress free as possible.

Personally I won't be delisting any players, so will just sit back and enjoy the fun. :)

So Xeno to be clear, it is an optional draft? And what about the trade period?

Just for the record, I am not planning to delist Sellar, so you can all stop licking your lips at the prospect of picking him up in mid season draft :)

Yep, optional mate. You only get picks if you delist players.

The thing about this draft is - as I see it we have 7 days to complete it. I am not running another intensive style draft so it will be up to the participants to make sure it is completed in that time.

The only real point here is to make sure those involved can get together enough to make sure it finishes within the week as it can only take place between rounds.

I'll start a mid year draft thread with the picks after the end of rnd. 12 which will be open for one week.
It will then be up to participants to post their picks in draft style order on that thread.

Really I would only expecting there to be 20 or so delisted so this shouldn't be too much fuss.

Is the mid year draft also a trade period?
I won't be delisting anyone, but I do know of a few teams with an over abundance in one slot who would probably prefer to trade out of that rather than draft out of it if that's an option?

What date and time do we need to announce which player/s we are delisting, if any?

X, if you want some help with this, I'm happy to take it on for you.
I'll set dates, deadlines etc, do the post on main page, crack the whip etc :)
You've got enough on your plate with preview and review (which obviously includes totaling scores) each week. Although, if you want to do it, of course you should do it still. :)

Let me know if youre happy that I organise it.
