Mike Sheahan releases his Top 50 soon, yea yea i know who really cares but thought it would be interesting to see who people thought are their own top 10 or 20.. or if you feel like doing it the top 50!! Anyway here is top 50 ive thrown together! 1. Gary Ablett 2. Scott Pendlebury 3. Lance Franklin 4. Dean Cox 5. Dane Swan 6. Chris Judd 7. Brendon Goddard 8. Adam Goodes 9. Mathew Scarlett 10. Travis Cloke 11. Sam Fisher 12. Joel Selwood 13. Marc Murphy 14. Nick Dal Santo 15. Aaron Sandilands 16. Mathew Pavlich 17. Sam Mitchell 18. Nick Riewoldt 19. Luke Hodge 20. Steve Johnson 21. Mathew Kruezar EDIT: I seem to have forgotten Tom Rockliff & Heath Scotland who both deserve to be in there somewhere!!
STK, a pretty good list although I don't think NRoo is deserving of a spot. Hasn't been the same since the hammy injury. I also would like to know if this is a predictive top 20 or based upon last season or historically over their career. If predictive for 2012 then it looks good but based upon last season there would be a bit of a reshuffle. Goddard down a fair bit, Sandi out, Mitchell and Murphy up, Hodge not in etc although 15-20 is always very subjective. Fyfe would have to be there about, so too Boyd.
Based on last year, only nds from the saints deserves a guernsey, going forward I am struggling to see nick in the top 50. He's looked like basketballer lost on a football field all preseason, hopefully it's curable.. Good idea Shaun, mine is below. 1 Scott Pendlebury 2 Gary Jnr Ablett 3 Dean Cox 4 Marc Murphy 5 Matthew Boyd 6 Chris Judd 7 Scott Thompson 8 Dane Swan 9 Nick Dal Santo 9 Lance Franklin 10 Tom Rockliff 11 Andrew Swallow 12 Sam Mitchell 13 Matthew Pavlich 14 Heath Scotland 15 Jobe Watson 16 Adam Goodes 17 Shane Mumford 18 Joel Selwood 19 Brendon Goddard 20 Matthew Priddis My criteria was not SC driven, but influence on the game.
Sheahan's a flog with his top 50 being way off the mark most years. That said Swan needs to be top 5 for me to even consider it. Lenh with no Cloke in your top 20 you have no idea, just about the most influential Collingwood player, and sheer willpower from him and Swan broke the Hawks in Prelim 2011. A half of great footy almost bridged the gap between Geelong and the Pies. Who would I draft if it were just this year to pick with regards to? That's what the Top 50 criteria needs to be. And if that were the case of Lenh top 20, I'd pick these behind Cloke: Boyd, Thompson, NDS, Rockliff, Swallow, Mitchell, Pavlich, Scotland, Watson, Goodes, Mumford, Goddard and Priddis.
Just updated OP with entire top 50.... Now that will cause discussion, as i really just thought of names and wrote them down!! haha @ Lucas I was going to put Cloke higher and thinking bout it now i'd probably swap him & Goodes around. But uncertinity around Pies year (injuries etc, no coach) made him slip down a little
Even now i realized i didnt put in Scotland or Rockliff.... Meh ahwell its too bloody hard to do top 50!!

If Pendlebury and Swan don't dominate the middle Cloke may as well be a 5th goal post. For the Dogs Boyd is a massive influence, Goodes not a bigger influence than Cloke, for real??. Watson, the dude is Essendon, Pav same for Freo. Who would you draft can't be it, in that case you have to choose 18 position players and then reserves. As I said I only picked for influence on the game, I am comfortable with the influence those 20 guys would have on any game they played in individually, ie I was not picking a team...... Pick yours
Mike Sheahan has done 31-50 50. Ben Reid Brett Deledio James Frawley Paul Chapman Mathew Leuenburger Drew Petrie Brad Sewell Mathew Kruezar Bryce Gibbs Josh Kennedy (Sydney) 40. Nathan Fyfe Ryan Griffen Luke Ball Nick Dal Santo Mathew Boyd Michael Jamieson James Kelly Darren Glass Trent Cotchin Heath Shaw

In his prime as a footballer.... Id love to know how many people would actually put him that low, id have thought most would have him in top 20 easily.

Boyd also should be a lot higher! The odd clanger aside, didn't he lead the league in clearences?.. I wonder how much of this rubbish Mike actually believes and how much he puts in just to get a rise out of people?..

Quote from Lucas on March 13, 2012, 09:51 Happy it's not behind the pay wall hahaha
Actually now it is. Good that like Robbo's tackle, we have another unwanted semi-news article hidden from view for the betterment of all.
