ST KILDA will play for its season against the Bulldogs on Friday night without key midfielder Leigh Montagna, who has been ruled out with a knee injury.

Saints coach Ross Lyon said today Montagna, who suffered a knock to the knee against Collingwood last Saturday night, would not be considered for selection.

He said the club was hopeful the injury would keep Montagna out for only one match.

And Lyon hinted that Irishman Tommy Walsh could become the Saints' ninth debutant on Friday night.

That sux for Joey, and my missus' team!
But great news about Tommy Walsh. I hope he does play. Watching the int rules series last time, he looks like he could be well suited to afl! Will be an exciting player!

Interesting to see what people do with him..

    Stkilda bye in 2 rounds.

Wouldnt be surprised if he misses 2 games and the bye which would mean he comes back against North in round 15..

Anyone moving him on for say Ablett? (About 80k more)

Could be back next week against Geelong though....

Really leaning towards cutting my losses with Montagna and grabbing Ablett/Hodge. Poor season for club and individual. Ross Lyon might wanna start playing the kids.

    @ anthak

You must be more keen to see him then me, from watching him at Sandy a fair bit i think he will get slaughtered at AFL level. Especially if they play him as a key defender. ALl his opponent will have to do is run him outside 50 and he is completely lost. Dont get me wrong he has come a very long way in the 2 years he's been practicing but still has bit to work on imo.

Joey will be back for next weeks clash against Geelong. Reckon they are taking the cautious approach with him this week.
