*Edit* Walesy, fix it so IE keeps formatting on the forum! (Kidding, mate, love your work)* With the byes this year, obviously there is a difference between who you should look at if you want an overall win, or if you're going for league bragging rights. To help some of the newer guys, I ran the teams through some tests using a few key factors to look at where the best players to choose will come from. Factors for league= Byes remaining, multi-bye round, weeks until next bye, overall points scored by team, per game, finals bye. The results came out as follows: Team Collingwood 9054, Hawthorn 8709, Melbourne 8529, Fremantle 8461, West Coast 8376, Western Bulldogs 8361, Sydney 8329, Richmond 8201, St Kilda 8058, Adelaide 7943, Brisbane Lions 7779, Port Adelaide 7581, Gold Coast 7252, Geelong 6222, Carlton 6139, Essendon 6040, North Melbourne 5600, Obviously there are caveats, you could trade to a Geelong player and dump them prior to the finals, but if you're looking for PODs to upgrade to now and save trades later for geniune injuries, then David Mundy, Matt Priddis or even GAJ could be a better bet than Selwood, Watson or Judd at this stage. For overall I took out some factors, it's simply byes remaining (with a stronger weighting), weeks til next bye, and ppg (again with a stronger weighting) Results are: Team Collingwood 634, Geelong 622, Carlton 616, Hawthorn 610, Essendon 606, Melbourne 593, Fremantle 588, West Coast 587, Western Bulldogs 585, Sydney 579, Richmond 572, St Kilda 564, North Melbourne 560, Adelaide 552, Brisbane Lions 540, Port Adelaide 532, Gold Coast 508, No real surprises there...St Kilda come out very low due to their season so far. But yeah, load up on players from the top and you'll be setting yourself up well.
