Second year of SC I've tried to plan and trade a lot smarter this year. Would appreciate any thoughts and advice on my 5 trade plan.

Here's my team at the moment.

    BACKLINE

    Goddard,B - Deledio,B - Adcock,J - Broughton,G - Heppell,D - Lower,N - B,Jacobs
    (Reserves - Thompson,L - Tape,S - Pederson,C)

    MIDFIELD

    Pendlebury,S - Boyd,M - Thompson,S - Judd,C, Selwood,J - Watson,J
    (Reserves - Kerr,D - Iles,S - Bewick,R)

    RUCKS

    Cox,D - Sandilands,A
    (Reserves - Smith,Z - Keefe,L)

    FORWARDS

    Pavlich,M - Sylvia,C - Goodes,A - Riewoldt,N - Rioli,C - Darling,J - Lynch,T
    (Reserves - McKernan,S - Mzungu,T - Richardson,C)

I have $225,600 in the bank and 9 trades left and this is my 5 trade plan

    Trade 1) - Thompson,L out - Shaw,H in (DEF)
    Trade 2) - Iles,S out - Downgrade (MID)
    Trade 3) - Jacobs,B out - Fisher,S in (DEF)
    Trade 4) - McKernan,S - Downgrade (FOR)
    Trade 5) - Lynch,T - Franklin,L (FOR)

My team would then look like this.

    BACKLINE

    Goddard,B - Deledio,B - Adcock,J - Broughton,G - Heppell,D - Shaw,H - Fisher,S
    (Reserves - Lower,N - Tape,S - Pederson,C)

    MIDFIELD

    Pendlebury,S - Boyd,M - Thompson,S - Judd,C, Selwood,J - Watson,J
    (Reserves ]- Downgrade - Kerr,D - Bewick,R)

    RUCKS

    Cox,D - Sandilands,A
    (Reserves - Smith,Z - Keefe,L)

    FORWARDS

    Pavlich,M - Sylvia,C - Goodes,A - Riewoldt,N - Rioli,C - Darling,J - Franklin,L
    (Reserves - Downgrade - Mzungu,T - Richardson,C)

Is this a good plan and are Shaw, Fisher, Franklin the players I should be targeting? And is 4 trades enough to leave for emergencies? Would really appreciate any thoughts or advice. Thanks.

As I learnt, planning ahead can easily be thrown out the window with an injury or poor performance.

Keep it in your mind but be realistic knowing that you will probably have to alter it.

Yep agree Sainterz, a plan is just a PLAN! Great to have one mapped out early as i do but price predictions, injuries and form are impossible to nail.

@MrNOYFB be wary of your trade numbers and i assume the trade above have taken into consideration price rise/fall...your three big ins as described are spot on as far as im concerned. I would also spend time planning your downgrades as your bench is pretty thin if an injury occurs, especially in FWD. Try to maintain as many MPP links across all lines with your bench players if your going to have roughies not guaranteed a game down the stretch.

Four trades will not be enough probably given you will have say 11 rounds to go if your plan works out.

Agree previous comments re MPP players. It would be good to have a B/M and a M/F in you centre bench. This will help cover your lack of trade options.

Not always a perfect solution but often avoids the doughnut.

When you downgrade think about the multi bye rounds too. Eg in your forward line you have Pav, Sylvia and Mungbean already. If you down grade to an Adelaide, Freo or Melb player you could find things very tight in Rd 16
