Essendon v Melbourne (Thu) Collingwood v Sydney (Fri) Geelong vs StKilda (Sat) West Coast v Gold Coast (Sun) Thanks for the draw Essendon, enjoy your 6 day break
Assuming Friday and Saturday games will be on FTA. Hope GC go though again as I'd like to catch them on TV at least once before the season starts.
Buy a TV from Joyce Mayne or Harvey Norman worth $1000 or more and get 6months free Austar including free HD Recorder and Free sports and one movie package. with no contract! It's legit and it's transferable, so if your friend buys one (or if you know a salesman at a one of those stores) you can get it from them. Enjoy (Oh but Austar only, so cities/foxtel can't do it; regional only)
Via express post perhaps, Port? The wild cards were allotted to the two next best teams that didn't automatically qualify. StKilda was given the first one, due to their win and a draw (6pts) while Sydney was given the second one due to their superior percentage (narrow loss to GC, humongous win over GWS)
Ah. That's what I meant though, I couldn't see anywhere on AFL website where it mentioned why (or compared the other teams) those where given wildcards.
Very much looking forward to seeing how the GC kids go on the bigger ground and for the full duration. The wide boundaries of Subiaco, excuse me, Banjo Patterson lakes river whatsitcalled? will test their endurance. Bring on a proper match too, with somewhat more meaningful SC scores as well, at least in terms of game duration scaling. Hopefully we get to have another look at Gaff while we're at it. Essendon will give us all another look at the two MPP's and hopefully they give us reason to keep them in the team head of their non-MPP counterparts. Pies vs Swans - can Krak show something to justify his additional price tag? Can Jed Lamb step it up a notch and get back onto peoples radar? Can Kennedy and Bird score >200 again? Cats vs Saints- Can gamble replicate his good round1 form against his old side? Can the Irish bloke (Walsh) substitute a few of those handballs for kicks to make him a better SC prospect?

@stkildathunda Thanks for this. The Challenge will also hold great interest and hope AFL w/site give the team lists. If anyone finds a source of SC scores for Challenge matches, please announce on here.

[Rant] And yet another game where Melbourne based Hawthorn supporters get the butt end. We're playing in f***ing Geelong for gods sake. GIVE US A GAME IN MELBOURNE OR ONE ON FTA! Even if we had have won our first round of NAB cup, we would play in Tassie and in all likelihood it wouldn't be on FTA. Extremely disappointing, and quite frankly pathetic given we have the second biggest membership base behind Collingwood. [/Rant]
At least it's on an afl quality ground, Ruddy. Sure, I'd love to have them playing nice and local for viewing purposes, but all I really care about is trying to avoid injuries and playing at Kardinia has to be one of the best options, as opposed to Timbuktu. Additionally, as we play the cats twice a year at the G due to big drawing crowds, it will give the locals a chance to have a look at the club that pinched a flag off 'em. Also, with the freeway now making the trip to Geelong just over an hour or so, I'm liking the idea of decking myself out in 08 premiership memorabilia and p!$$!ng off as many of the locals there as humanly possible
Challenge games arent broadcast at all are they? Still I guess its cos all challenge games are supposed to be country or regional venues... The entire process and broadcasting schedule of the entire preseason is a complete joke. Rest assured Collingwood wont be forced to play interstate for the entire preseason.... West Coast or Gold Coast will play a home game in round 3 you would think, well especially Gold Coast. So my money is the winner of Ess/Melb or Saints/Cats will have to travel interstate...
@Spud May i remind you to last year, we played North down in Tassie. Taylor broke his leg, and Sewell broke his collarbone. It was a wet day, but given the recent weather, it could end up disastrous as well.
Stk, yeah I don't think they bother showing matches between teams that are already out of the NAB cup. They have enough difficulty showing the matches between clubs that are still in the real thing! I remember that Ruddy, nothing we can do about those sorts of injuries though. We can't pick who we play or where we play though, and we're not going to get to play at the MCG for a challenge match, so surely Kardinia has to be one of the next best options? If we're concerned about injuries, we won't play the senior blokes, just like against Perth. Anything but Etihad! Am very surprised we aren't playing this in Tassie though, given the AFL would seem to want to give North as much exposure as possible down there. I remember there being a bit of talk about the possibility of Kardinia hosting a few home games here and there as the Cats only play there every second week - perhaps it might be another option for North down the track? 2 games in hobart, a few games at Kardinia etc.
