Big news today is the trade of Melo to the Knicks! Massive trade involving 3 teams, 12 players and 2 draft picks (which beats my trade to get Durantula from our TooSerious Knicks). To paraphrase chris88 from his comments today in last weeks thread: The Knicks gave up half their team, mostly young improving players and ‘all’ their draft picks, for a star who cant play D, an old PG and bench shit. Another way of putting it [the official way] is: C. Anthony, C. Billups, C. Brewer, S. Williams, A. Carter and R. Balkman go to the Knicks; while W. Chandler, R. Felton, D. Gallinari, T. Mozgov, a first-rounder and two second-rounders go to the Nuggets, and A. Randolph and E. Curry head to the T-wolves. I’m missing something in regards to the 2 players going to Minnasota?? But anyway, thats how it went down.

After this trade, Mozgov and Turiaf were both snapped up from the FA’s pretty quickly. I reckon its hard to know how this will affect the players involved in a fantasy sense – but there are a few things that I will throw out there: 1) Turiaf will now be starting for the Knicks. 2) Afflalo and Nene have some competition now at the Nuggets, which may or may not be a good thing for their game. 3) Anthony Randolph should see a lot more min at the TWolves. 4) Just after I suggested that Walesy drop him, a player who was also a big part of our mammoth 3 team trade – Sheldon Williams – should see more game time at NY (admittedly, its not hard to improve from DNPCD’s).

The trade deadline is now only a few days away, so it will be interesting to see if there are any other trades on the horizon.

Tomorrow we have games on again, after a 4 day break for the All Star action. Im going to give a quick rundown of the All Star weekend – including mock All Star starting 5’s for our league – and also see how our current matchups are faring:

OK, so the All Star action started off with the rookie game, where John Wall of Stevo’s Nuggets claimed the MVP award with a 22 assist DD, breaking the record for assists in this format. On the next day, current FA, James Jones of the Miami Heat won the 3 Point Shootout; Blake Griffin of Run TMC won the Dunk comp by jumping over a car to throw one down; and Stephen Curry of Fudge’s Sixers won Skills Challenge.

Next up came the All Star game – The West won, 148 – 143, in a usual high scoring affair. Kobe Bryant of Team Stowie won the MVP award (his 4th) with 37 points. LeBron James, of Dannys Lebronts, had a TD (I still have the game, on video, where Jordan recorded the first ever TD in an All Star game – Glen Rice was the MVP that season).
Now, I thought it could be fun to set up mock starting 5’s for a fantasy All Star game for our league. Ive kept it simple and just ranked players by fppg.

But I first want to announce the winner of our poll. It was asking who everyone would vote for first if we had an All Star ballot for our league; and the winner was Chris Paul with 60% of the votes.

Now introducing the Too:
At centre: Dwight Howard of Kings of Karlos. Drafted 9th. Averaging 48 fppg (ranked 12th) from 55 games; 22.8ppg, 13.8rpg, 1.2apg, 2.1bpg.
At Power Forward: Pau Gasol of Ruddys Cavaliers. Drafted 4th (by Steve). Averaging 52.4 fppg (ranked 9th) from 57 games; 18.8ppg, 10.4rpg, 3.6apg.
At Small Forward: LeBron James of Dannys Lebronts. Drafted 1st. Averaging 57.5 fppg (ranked 1st) from 54 games; 26.1ppg, 7.4rpg, 7.3apg; 3 TD’s.
At Shooting Guard: Dwayne Wade of Wade Machine. Drafted 5th. Averaging 47.1 fppg (ranked 14th) from 52 games; 25.4ppg, 6.9rpg, 4.3apg.
And at Point Guard: Steve Nash of Ruddys Cavaliers. Drafted 12th. Averaging 54.2 fppg (ranked 4th) from 52 games; 16.8ppg, 3.6rpg, 11.3apg.
    6th man: Rajon Rondo of Run TMC. Drafted 8th. Averaging 53.9 fppg (ranked 5th) from 43 games; 10.9ppg, 4.4rpg, 12.2apg, 2.4spg; 3 TD’s.

Now introducing the Serious:
At centre: Amare Stoudamire of Team Fezkat. Drafted 15th. Averaging 49.3 fppg (ranked 10th) from 53 games; 26.1ppg, 8.6rpg, 2.7apg, 2.2bpg.
At Power Forward: Kevin Love of Team HEAVER!. Drafted 59th (by anthak). Averaging 53.1 fppg (ranked 7th) from 56 games; 21.1ppg, 15.5rpg, 2.4apg, 0.9 DDpg.
At Small Forward: Kevin Durant of Team anthak. Drafted 2nd. Averaging 48.3 fppg (ranked 11th) from 50 games; 28.9ppg, 7rpg, 2.8apg.
    At Shooting Guard: Monta Ellis of Jasmine’s Mob. Drafted 34th. Averaging 44.2 fppg (ranked 19th) from 55 games; 25.3ppg, 3.4rpg, 5.5apg, 2.2spg.
And at Point Guard: Chris Paul of Adelaide Maggots. Drafted 3rd. Averaging 56.2 fppg (ranked 2nd) from 58 games; 16.2ppg, 3.9rpg, 9.6apg, 2.5spg.
    6th man: Russell Westbrook of Team Heaver. Drafted 36th (by DaBombers/Dan). Averaging 55.4 fppg (ranked 3rd) from 54 games; 22.2ppg, 5rpg, 8.6apg; 3 TD’s.

Average of the 6 players on each team:
    Too: 52.2 FPPG; 20.1 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 6.7 APG.
    Serious: 51.1 FPPG; 23.3 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 5.3 APG.

So it looks like it would be a hard fought battle, but the Serious, led by Durant, would have to win!

We still have 6 days left in Matchup 16, with plenty of games still to come. In fact, all teams except for New Jersey have 3 or 4 games to come (NJ have only 2), so it is almost like we still have a regular matchup length remaining – which means to me that everyone is still a shot to win this week. I have pasted my predictions from last weeks post down below and written in bold how each game is currently faring.

Team anthak (10-5) v Fudge’s Sixers (8-7)
I have rated Fudge’s Sixers really highly all season, and it looks as though his players are playing up to their potential now. Fudge is on a 4 game winning streak and currently in the 8. Remembering back to the early days – whenever I tipped Fudge he seemed to lose, so as Im playing him this week, I am tipping them to win, but hoping they dont!
ah: 560 v 6rs: 642; top scorers: Rose and Aldridge respectively.

Too Seriouseses (7-8) v Dannys Lebronts (8-7)
Doesnt look like Danny10 is still coaching his team, so Im tipping Too Seriouseses to win easily.
TS: 500 v DL: 326; top scorers: Lowry and James respectively.

Team El Bonanzas (0-15) v Run TMC (13-2)
As if our leading team – Run TMC – needs a bye to help them along!
EB: 0 v RT: 617; top scorer: Jefferson.

Adelaide Maggots (6-9) v Doobia Dominators (5-10)
Its getting harder for both of these teams to make the playoffs, and a loss here would certainly put an end to any post season hopes. Despite a loss last start, Adelaide Maggots has actualy been in good form, so they have my tip.
AM: 423 v DD: 457; top scorers: Paul and Bosh respectively.

Jasmine’s Mob (11-4) v Team Stowie (5-10)
Jasmine is sitting comfortably in the 8, whereas Stowie needs to win every remaining game, just to have a chance. So with his back to the wall – Im tipping Team Stowie to win in a close one.
JM: 552 v Stow: 490; top scorers: Williams and Salmons respectively.

Westside Hardcore (11-4) v Pikus United (0-15)
Westside Hardcore looks the likely challenger to grab the Dirk Diggler trophy from Karlos, as he is currently on a 6 game streak, and I’m betting it will be a 7 game streak after this round – gee im a risk taker aren’t I!
WH: 540 v PU 0; top scorer: Anthony.

Do Something Knicks (8-7) v Kings of Karlos (13-2)
To make things interesting with the DD trophy, Karlos actually has to lose one – hasnt looked likely though! But Im tipping Do Something Knicks to bring home the bacon and spice things up for the few teams in with a chance of claiming it still.
DSK: 515 v KoK: 431; top scorers: McRoberts and Martin respectively.

Under Achievers (6-9) v Stevo’s Nuggets (7-8)
A massive game here! Both teams desperately need a win to stay within reach of the playoffs. Not sure if I can split them… maybe a draw… Nah I’ll go out on a limb and tip Under Achievers.
UA: 532 v SN: 423; top scorers: Kidd and Henderson respectively.

Team HEAVER! (11-4) v Ruddy’s Cavaliers (8-7)
Team Heaver had a bit of a down week and, as good teams do, still came away with the win. I reckon they will do enough this week as well.
Heav: 502 v RC: 563; top scorers: Frye and Nash respectively.

Team Fezkat (5-10) v Wade Machine (8-7)
    Wade Machine??
Fez: 539 v WM: 670; top scorers: Deng and Wade respectively.

Obviously Micka and Owen will get up easily, and it also looks like Walesy will account for Danny10 easily; but all of the other games are still up in the air – The Air Up There.

Have a good week! :)
