    NBA Matchup 14

I was thinking this morning that I should keep doing these write ups as I have been on a winning streak during this time.  But alas all good things must come to an end and this will be my final write up before I hand the reigns back to Anthak.  Plus I won’t be around from next Sunday as we are going on holidays for the week.

Yet another team in the NBA has sacked their coach.  The Pacers parted ways with Jim O’Brien.  I was keen on the Pacer’s playoff chances prior to the season starting but they have been a mess for the last 5-6 weeks and a change needed to be made.   There have been some big games in the NBA this week, none bigger than the rematch between the Lakers and the Celtics with the C’s overturning the result from the finals last year.  I am not sure what to make of the Lakers at the moment? They are just going through the motions as they realise they can lift a few gears once the playoffs start.  But getting beaten by the Kings in LA? What is going on there?  Teams will be trying to get as many wins as possible before the All Star Break in a few weeks time

This week only one trade was processed in our league whereby Heaver traded Kevin Martin to Fudge and received Wilson Chandler in return.   Both teams have done well with that trade.  This week  has seen some very exciting matches in our league and there were a few upsets thrown in as well.

Please read over the break for the reviews and the previews for Matchup 15.

    <!--more-->Stevo’s Nuggets      1244     v     Team Anthak     1239

I still can’t believe I won this match.  This match had everything and went down right to the final buzzer in the Warriors/Jazz game.   I was holding onto a slender lead in the 4th qtr and Reggie Williams was coming home strong which nearly got Anthak over the line.  My score of 1244 was a PB for me this season and I had some great contributions from Wall 177, Hickson 148, Young 147, Dooling 144 and West 140.  The best for Anthak were Durant 246, Randolph 191, Rose 173 and Marc Gasol 166.  Anthak was very unlucky this week, a lot of things went right for me to claim the win.

    Too Seriouseses     1027     v     Ruddy Cavalier’s     953

Walesy returned to the winner’s list week with a good win against Ruddy.  Day 3 of this matchup is where Walesy established a match winning lead when he scored 298. The best players for Walesy were Billups 174, Wallace 144, Bargnani 133 and Lowry 130.   The Cavalier’s were not helped with several injuries in their squad.  Ruddy received good support from Nash 247, Boozer 133, Allen 122 and Chandler 110. Ruddy would have been hoping that Pau Gasol would have scored more than 94 pts for his 3 games during the matchup.

Wade Machine     1206     v     Team El Bonanzas     0

The Wade Machine were very lucky to sneak home with the points in this matchup.   Dan would have been happy with the scores from Scola 185, Horford 146, Conley 144, T Allen 122 and Delfino 113.  Dan has done very well with some of his recent pickups from the FA list in Delfino and Perkins which should pay dividends over the upcoming weeks.

    Fudge’s Sixers     1353     v     Adelaide Maggots     1290

The Maggots would have to count themselves unlucky to get such a good score and still lose the match.  Fudge led this match from start to finish but the Maggots gave him a good run for his money.  The best players for Fudge were Iggy 198, Harris 191, Curry 185, Lee and Cousins on 152. The Maggots were led by Paul on 264, Augustin 177, Ginobli 164 and Garnett 150.

    Jasmine’s Mob     1197     v     Danny’s Lebronts     807

Jasmine recorded a comfortable victory here and she would have won by a lot more considering Deron Williams missed 2 games during the week.   Jasmine had 5 players who scored over 100 pts and were led by Bogut 185, Kirilenko 172, Sessions 141 and Ellis 135.  The Lebront’s only had 2 players who scored more than 100 points and they were Lebron 224 and Dunleavy 124.   The Lebront’s were also missing Eric Gordon in this matchup.

    Westside Hardcore     1293     v     Run TMC     1169

Another upset result in this matchup.  Westside were able to topple one of the leading teams in our league which was a huge result for Mick.  The secret to the success of Westside this week was the spread of points right across the roster.  The best for Westside were Parker 140, Elton 137, Millsap 129, Monroe 129 and Carmelo 121.  Run TMC were leading right up until the final day but Westside scored 255 on this day compared to 148.  The best players for Owen were Rondo 166, Wright 164, Hayes 151, Jefferson 138 and Jackson 134.

Do Something Knicks     1186     v     Doobia Dominators     948

The Knicks put up a strong performance this week to knock off the Dominators.  Days 2 and 3 of this matchup is where the Knicks were able to assert their ascendancy.  Gortat led the way with 146 followed by Blatche 144 and Pierce 136.  The Dominators were hit hard by injuries and suspensions during this matchup. The best players for the Dominators were Felton 197, Terry 145, Johnson 141 and Gallinari 125.

    Under Achievers     1252     v     Team Stowie     861

A good win for The Under Achievers this week and they had 7 players who scored over 100 pts which was a great effort.   T-Mac led the way with 166 (good to see him playing well after all his injuries), Lopez 159, Kidd 131, Gay 125 and DeRozan 122.  The Under Achievers led this matchup from start to finish.   The best players for Stowie this week were Kobe 152, Okafor 137 and Landry 100.

    Team Heaver     1236     v     Pikus United     0

As predicted the Heaver Train was ruthless in this matchup and did not show any sympathy towards Pikus United.  Once again Westbrook and Love were the best with 269 and 244.  People would kill for this lethal combination of point scorers.  The next best was Anderson on 134 and Lawson on 113.

King of Karlos     1334     v     Team Fezkat     1149

Another high scoring match here and Karlos was good enough to get win.  Fezkat has been showing some improved form recently.   Howard was the best for Karlos with 269 followed by Evans 161, Affalo 132 and Calderon 124.  Once again Amare led the way for Fez with 217 and the next best were Holiday 147, Joe Johnson 138 and Deng on 119.  This match was pretty close right throughout but Karlos had enough in reserve to see off the challenge by Fez.

Onto my tips for this week!  I have not looked at the scores for today, so I am basing my tips on who I think will win and not who is in front at the end of day one of matchup 15.

    Team Fezkat     (6-7)     v     Stevo’s Nuggets     (6-7)

Both teams have improved significantly over the past few weeks.  My tip:  Myself to get the win.

    Team Anthak     (9-4)     v     Ruddy Cavalier’s     (7-6)

I expect Anthak to bounce back this week and Ruddy’s team still have a few injuries at the moment. My tip:  Anthak to win

    Too Seriouseses     (7-6)     v     Wade Machine     (6-7)

Keep this quiet but I think Wade Machine might sneak over the line here – just don’t tell Dan.  My tip:  Wade Machine to get a narrow win

    Team El Bonanzaz     (0-13)     v     Fudge Sixer’s     (6-7)

Fudge to get another win here.  My Tip:  Fudge to post back to back wins

    Adelaide Maggots     (5-8)     v     Danny’s Lebronts     (7-6)

I think the Maggots are on a bit of roll here.  My tip:  The Maggots to win a close match

    Jasmine’s Mob     (10-3)     v     Run TMC     (11-2)

Match of the round here.  It could go either way.  My tip:  Jasmine to make it 2 losses in a row for Owen

    Westside Hardcore     (9-4)     v     Doobia Dominators     (5-8)

Westside has been one of more consistent teams in our league.  My tip: Westside to get another win

Do Something Knicks     (6-7)     v     Team Stowie     (5-8)

The Knicks are coming home strong and I think they will be too much for Stowie this week.  My tip:  The Knicks to get the win

    Under Achievers     (5-8)     v     Pikus United     (0-13)

The Under Achievers will be looking to build momentum in this matchup.  My tip: Under Achievers to  get a big win

Team Heaver     (10-3)     v     King of Karlos     (11-2)

This could also be match of the round as well.  My tip:  I think Karlos will win, Heaver has a few injuries in his lineup at the moment

Well there you go, tell us how you went this week? What are your thoughts on the matchup for next week.    Over to you Anthak for the write up next week!
