It feels like a bit of a whirlwind has just stormed through... it was a bit hectic there for a while trying to sort out our fantasy leagues after the good news that the lockout would be ending. And then the season started and the first matchup has already come to a close. Despite being a bit rushed, the leagues have come together quite well I reckon - a few people in Division 2 did have some issues getting into the live draft and one person in Division 1 didnt realise what time their draft was actually on (I think the time diff was the issue) but all in all, its been pretty smooth sailing, and people have hit the ground running, with quite a lot of player movements on and off the waivers, as well as a lot of trade proposals getting thrown around... not many have been accepted though, with only 2 trades (i think) going through thus far.

In this 1st matchup, we had 4 teams that scored more than 1700, and 1 - <a title="Team 726 (Sam Lee)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=10201&amp;teamId=6&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Team 726 coached by minis - that scored 1800+ with a whopping score of 1825!! Well done mate, and you had to come up big as the opponent in that match - <a title="Team Ring Ticklers (joel Lamerton)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=10201&amp;teamId=10&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Team Ring Ticklers coached by joellamerton - ended up being the highest scoring loser. I hope people dont mind me pointing this one out, but our lowest scorer this week was <a title="Six Ten Two Forty (Anthony Hack, Martin Bodo)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=10201&amp;teamId=1&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Six Ten Two Forty, coached by twoeyec, who only mustered up 1072. All 3 teams outlined here came from division 2, but our closest game of the round was in the Premier League between two of last seasons high flyers with <a title="Kings of Karlos (Sean Minetti, Leigh Walles)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=10&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Kings of Karlos (coached by karlos and Lethal), who had the 2nd best reg season record last season, defeating <a title="Wade Machine (Daniel Laengst)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=15&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Wade Machine (coached by dabombers), who was last seasons champion, by just 10 points - 1474 to 1464.

As for the players, LeBron James has been easily the stand out thus far, averaging 71 fpts through the first 5 games! and Kevin Love is the only other to ave more than 55 so far, with 60 fppg through his 4 games to start the season.

Now over the break will be the review for each individual league. I will write the Premier League review, Steve the Division 1 review and smokinjoemisiti will write the review for Division 2:::::::

    PREMIER LEAGUE (by anthak)

    <a title="Kings of Karlos (Sean Minetti, Leigh Walles)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=10&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Kings of Karlos (karlos &amp; Lethal) 1474 v <a title="Wade Machine (Daniel Laengst)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=15&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Wade Machine (dabombers) 1464

The aforementioned closest TS game of the matchup... dabombers stormed home winning the last 4 days, but couldnt quite catch up, going down by just the 10 points in the end. The highest scorer for Kings of Karlos was Durant with 276 fpts from his 5 games, and for Wade Machine it was Dwight Howard with 256 fpts from 5 games.

    <a title="Fudges Sixers (Jim Tsilikas)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=16&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Fudges Sixers (fudge) 1216 v <a title="Adelaide Maggotz (Cameron Sears)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=21&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Adelaide Maggotz (maggots) 1354

These two teams scored the two lowest scores in PL this week, so it was probably lucky for maggots that he drew fudge this matchup. Both teams played the waiver wire using 15 and 16 players each, which amounted to many of their players playing only a couple of games through the week. Adelaide Maggots best was Dirk Nowitzki with 187 from 5 games with 3 others over 150; while Nene was best for Fudges Sixers with 149 from 5, but he also had another 4 players in the 140s.

    <a title="Run TMC (Owen Beebe)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=19&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Run TMC (Owen) 1613 v <a title="Ruddys Cavaliers (Peter Rudd)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=20&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Ruddys Cavaliers (Ruddy) 1504

Last seasons pace setter has started of well again with a W on opening night, and things have started off similarly to last season for his opponent too. Owen finished last season with the best regular season record only losing a couple of games for the season and its looking like he may be just as strong again after putting together a formidable outfit; while Ruddy was hit hard by injuries last season, and it was looking like it was panning out that way again with heaps of DTDs on his roster leading up to the start of the season; however as it turned out he only had Paul Pierce who missed games and Owen was similarily affected with Billups and Cousins both missing games. Top scorer for Run TMC was Pau Gasol with 245 from 6 games, and for Ruddys Cavaliers it was Kobe Bryant with 237 from 6 games, but Dwayne Wade also should get a mention, scoring 209 from 5 games.

    <a title="ant hak (Anthony Hack)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=1&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">ant hak (anthak) 1477 v <a title="Too Seriouseses (Les Wales)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=2&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Too Seriouseses (Walesy) 1705

Interestingly this was one of only two matchups where the winner had more games played than the loser - but it was not a factor in the result as Walesy was too good for me this week, scoring one of the top scores for the round. Top scorer for Too Seriouseses was Love with 240 from his 4 games, and he was well supported by Jose Calderon and Luel Deng (both of whom Walesy picked one spot before i had hopped to get them) with 180 from 4 and 193 from 5 respectively; and my best scorer was Ryan Anderson with 217 from his 5 games. I lost to Walesy in round 1 last season too and I ended up making the granny so I hope that this result is actually a good omen ;) .

    <a title="Jasmines Mob (Jasmine Johnson)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=5&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Jasmines Mob (Jasmine) 1576 v <a title="Team HEAVER! (Dave Tong)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=13&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Team HEAVER! (HEAVER) 1658

Jasmine finished as the highest scoring loser in Premier and this was also the highest scoring game of the matchup in this league. Jasmine used 17 players and Heaver 16 as they both worked the waiver wire trying to get the advantage. Although Heaver still had a fairly settled lineup as he had 11 players that played all of their available games and he rotated his other 2 spots between the other 5 players (including 4 that he only used for the 1 game each) trying to find the right combination, helping him to the first up W. Team HEAVER!s best scorer was, last seasons MVP, Derrick Rose with 224 from 5 and the top scorer for Jasmines Mob was Rajon Rondo who had 244 from 5.

    <a title="Westside Hardcore (Michael Walters)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=6&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Westside Hardcore (mick) 1643 v <a title="Robert Sarvers Handbag (Chris Riches, Steve Smith)" href="http://games.espn.go.com/fba/clubhouse?leagueId=23530&amp;teamId=7&amp;seasonId=2012" target="_top">Robert Sarvers Handbag (chris88 &amp; smittys07) 1541

Also a very high scoring game, and I think these two played each other first up last year too. And this was the other game where the winner had more games played than the loser, but once again, it was not a factor in the result as the difference was only the one game. Neither team had many injuries, with many of the main core of players playing all available games, and both worked the waiver wire aggressively - all pointing towards a great matchup, which it was. The star of the show was top scorer for Westside Hardcore - Lebron James with 355 from his 5 games to lead the league also. While the top scorer for Robert Sarvers Handbag was Iguodala with 186 from 4. Last year, Mick scored the highest round team score for the season in the first matchup, and wasnt far off again, and this time round, he had a massive first day, building a lead (of 103) which he would never surrender.

    DIVISION 1 (by Steve):

    Stevo’s Nuggets (Steve)   1671    V    Doobia’s Dominators (Doobs)   1456

Both teams had very disappointing rookie campaigns in the inaugural TS fantasy basketball league last year.  So both teams were looking to start the season on a brighter note.  Stevo’s Nuggets were able to get the win courtesy of some shrewd pick ups from the waivers (Diaw) and the FA list (Marvin Williams).  The best players for the Nuggets this round were Thornton 198, Westbrook 142 and Hibbert with 136.  The Dominators got good scores from Durant 276, Rondo 244 and Horford 135.

The Jug O Naughts (Fez)   1707    v    Team Stowie (Stowie)   1383

Fez had the number one pick in our draft and quickly snapped up the King.   Lebron did not let Fez down in week one with a huge score of 355.  Fez also received good contributions from Redick 144 and Boozer 142.   Stowie could not keep up with the King churning out huge scores each game and had to rely upon Iggy 186, Deron Williams 163 and Bargnani 157 to be competitive.

Canuck Steelers (Under Achievers)   1490    v    Brutal Deluxe (Sainter)   1420

The Steelers were probably very lucky to win this match up as we noticed that Sainter had not updated his roster each day.  So he had some players sitting on his bench that could have been in his starting roster which would have added to his overall total.  The Steelers got good service from K Love 240, Lowry 211, and Bosh 185.   The best players for Brutal Deluxe for this round were Pau Gasol 245, Wade 209 and Granger 153.

    Team Bucks Fizz (spm67)     1550    v      Everton 149’ers (Rev) 1345

This was a very close match throughout round one until the last few days of the round when Bucks Fizz were able to sneak away with the win.   Bucks Fizz was able to get the win thanks to Ryan Anderson 196, Miller 189 and Dirk 187.  The 149’ers had good scores from Turkoglu 151, Wall 141 and Collison 141.  Both teams have very competitive rosters which will hold them in good stead for the remainder of the season.

Crossy Crussaders  (Crossy)   1561    v CK Nicks  (Costak)   1263

For those of you who don’t know, Costak is currently over in Europe staying at Crossy’s place for a few weeks.  I could just imagine the amount of sledging that went on during this match up.   Unfortunately for Costak, Crossy was too strong in this matchup due to good scores from Dwight 256, Deng, 193 and Aldridge 157.  Costak had to rely upon Rose 224, Kobe 237 and Nene 149.   Costak was away for our draft so he had to rely upon his pre draft settings.   His team will come good in the next few weeks.

Albert Park Rangers (Bgt2110)   1652    v   Get Knicked (Liquid SiXx)   1425

This was another close match up until the last few days when the Rangers were able to draw away from Get Knicked.  The Rangers have a very good roster and they received a nice spread of scores from Lawson 242, Allen 184 and Calderon 180.  Get Knicked also has a good roster and will get their fair share of wins this season but this round they to rely upon CP3 186, Harden 185 and Ginobili to get the job done

    Here is the upcoming schedule:

<td colspan="6">Teams are limited to 5 acquisitions during this 7 day matchup

    DIVISION 2: (by smokinjoemisiti)

Hawthorn OKC Magic (GULZ) – 1523, defeated SmokinJoe Misiti (JM) – 1424

Top Scorers: Lebron James (GULZ) - 355 from 5 games, Dwight Howard (JM) - 256 from 5 games. GULZ had his share of injury worries, most notably with Eric Gordon only playing 1 of 4 games, whilst Andrew Bynum was suspended for the Lakers first 4. Now Zach Randolph has an injury concern that may hurt GULZ for round 2’s matchup. Lebron proved to be the difference in the end in this matchup.

    Maxwell’s Marvels (MAX) – 1400, defeated The Hinrich Manoeuvre (THM) – 1295

Top scorers: Kobe Bryant (MAX) – 237 from 6 games, Jose Calderon (THM) – 180 from 4 games.

Another close encounter with Maxwell’s Marvels squeezing out the win. THM’s Russell Westbrook produced a 0 in his game against Memphis whilst Al Jefferson missing a game didn’t help THM’s cause either. MAX had Rose, Bryant and Iguodala all score higher than THM’S top scorer, Jose Calderon.

    Team 726 (726) – 1825, defeated Team Ring Ticklers (LAMO) – 1576

Top scorers: Kevin Love (726) – 240 from 4 games, Pau Gasol (LAMO) – 245 from 6 games.

Team 726 produced the biggest score for Division 2 this round on the back of some high scores from Kyle Lowry and Kevin Love. LAMO had to sit tight with Paul Pierce, with the Celtic only playing 2 out of 5 games for the week.

Broady Broncos (BB) – 1610, defeated Six Ten Two Forty (6’10) - 1072

Top scorers: Ty Lawson (BB) – 242 from 5 games, Deron Williams (6’10) – 163 from 5 games.

Easily the most one sided contest of the week with BB winning 7 out of the 8 days. 6’10 had just Williams and Harden score over 150 points for the week.

Dropping Bombs (MARI) – 1740, defeated Team Farken White (FARK) – 1407

Top scorers: Kevin Durant (MARI) – 276 from 5 games, Chris Bosh (FARK) – 185 from 5 games.

MARI had 10 players score over 100 points, including 244 from Rondo to go with Durant’s 276. FARK on the other hand had just 7 players score in triple figures with only Anthony, Griffin and Bosh scoring over 150.

    Cyril33s Crushers (CRUS) – 1549, defeated Team Travysboys (HEWI) – 1510

Top scorers: Chris Paul (CRUS) – 186 from 4 games, Ryan Anderson (HEWI) – 217 from 5 games.

This proved to be the matchup of the round going right down to the last day before CRUS pulled out a 39 point victory. Interestingly, DeMarcus Cousins has reportedly requested a trade from Sacramento so was asked by the Kings coach to not play in the team’s last match. This proved costly for HEWI and may have been the difference in this close matchup.
