The second week of the season saw the firing of the first coach. Mike Brown from the Lakers was given his marching orders. Mike D’Antoni has now been appointed as coach of the Lakers. MDA is famous for his offence (fast tempo, 3 point shooting) but is not renowned for his defence, so it will be interesting to see what impact he will have on the style of play for the Lakers.
As usual, I will do the review of the Premier League, Stowie will do the review of Division One and Rev will do the review of Division Two ( I will edit this thread once I receive the review for Division Two)
Please read over the break
<!--more-->
There has not been much activity this week in the Premier League. No trade offers were accepted so it looks like everyone is backing their original draft choices for the moment. But there has been plenty of activity on the FA list and waivers.
King of Karlos (1338) v Fudge’s Sixers (989)
Karlos was able to post his first win of the season by comfortably defeating Fudge. Once again Fudge was hit hard by injuries and suspensions (he currently has Bynum, J Rich and Barea all out injured and then Robinson got done for 2 games for elbowing one of his opponents). Fudge was leading this match after day one but it all went downhill from that point onwards. Karlos showed no mercy and also had Nelson miss most of the round as well. The best players for Karlos were Gortat (179/4), Curry (155/4) and Al Jefferson (159/4). For Fudge, Timmy D turned back the clock again with (217/4) followed by Pierce (143/3) and Lawson (142/4)
Run TMC (1359) v Wade Machine (1213)
Run TMC was able to make it 2 from 2 with a hard fought win over Wade Machine. This match was neck and neck right up until the final day when Run TMC was able to outscore Wade Machine by 99 pts. It was a very good win for Run TMC as they had both Crash Wallace and Henderson out for all of the match up. Wade Machine now has a record of 1-1 and will be hoping to bounce back next round. Westbrook was the best for Run TMC with (183/4), followed by Gay (153/4) and Noah (149/3). Wade Machine relied upon Thad Young (144/4), Ellis (144/3) and MKD (133/3).
Ruddy’s Cavaliers (1567) v Adelaide Maggotz (1147)
The Cavaliers posted the highest score of the round in the Premier League this week. Ruddy will be very happy with his drafting of Monroe who scored the first TD of the season. The Maggotz used all of their 5 acquisitions this round but to no avail as Ruddy was too good. As mentioned before, Monroe led the way with (219/4), followed by the OKC tandem of Durantula (186/4) and Ibaka (189/4). The best players for the Maggotz this week were Manimal (186/4), Bosh (165/4) and Kmart (134/4)
Ant hak (1560) v Jasmine’s Mob (1537)
It was only last week when I mentioned that it was going to very difficult to beat Jasmine’s Mob this season. How wrong was I? It only took one week for Anthak to pull off a remarkable victory in a high scoring affair. Anthak is now 2 from 2 and looking like an early contender to make the finals. Jasmine should not be too worried as she scored the 3rd highest score for the round. This match went to the very final game in the matchup whereby Anthak needed Kobe to come up with the goods and he was clutch when the pressure was on. Once again the King led the way with (213/4), followed by Z Bo (182/4) and Iggy (161/4). For Jasmine, the best players were AK47 (186/4), CP3 (180/4) and Mayo (170/4).
The Jug-O-Naughts (1363) v Team Heaver (1048)
Fez was able to post his first victory in the Premier League since his promotion from Div One last season. Days 5 and 6 of this matchup was where this match was won as Fez was able to get the upper hand when he outscored Heaver by 307 pts. Heaver played 44 games this round compared to the 38 games for Fez but Heaver’s hand was somewhat forced with injuries to Lowry and Mo Williams. Fez had 6 players break the 100 pts mark this round led by Holiday (181/4), Lee (175/4) and Rondo (150/3). Heaver had to rely upon Conley (155/4), Irving (171/4) and Pekovic (124/4).
Westside Hardcore (1275) v Linsanity 17 (1141)
Westside were able to claim a hard fought win over Linsanity this round. Both teams raided the FA list and used up all of their 5 acquistions for the round. However, Westside were too good and now move to a record of 2 from 2 while Linsanity is finding it tough in the Premier League and has slumped to a record of 0 from 2. The best players this round for Westside were Wright (137/3), Aldridge (133/3) and D12 (125/3). Linsanity had to rely upon Dragic (153/4), Cousins (133/3) and Bargnani (133/3).
Division One
Nahla Vs LittleDee (1-1) (rodgo) 1257 def by Team Stowie (1-1) (stowie) 1369
Team Stowie got on the board with their first win despite only winning three of the seven days in the matchup. Depth proved the difference here with Team Stowie having eight players hit triple figures led by Kirilenko (186 / 4) and Jrue Holiday (181 / 4). Nahla Vs LittleDee were paced by Gortat (179 / 4) and Kobe (157 / 3).
Didnt Draft Durant (doh) (2-0) (Jet) 1253 def The Bucks Fizz (0-2) (spm67) 867
The Bucks Fizz improved on last week but didnt have enough in the tank to get passed DDD(d) who had Lebron (213 / 4), Blake (149 / 4) and KG (134 / 3) lead the way. Three players from The Bucks Fizz hit the tonne for week, David Lee (175 /4), Kemba (137 / 3) and Gallinari (104 / 4).
Albert Park Rangers (0-2) (bgt) 1260 def by Crossy Crusaders (2-0) (crossy) 1311
With the CK Nicks cheering the background, The Albert Park Rangers needed a monster game from Pau Gasol (102 / 3) to steal a win, but it wasnt to be. Crossy Crusaders had too much firepower with Z-Bo (182 / 4), PP34 (143 / 3) and the silly DeMarcus Cousins (133 / 3) all providing big scores in the matchup. For Albert Park Rangers George Hill (179 / 4) and Joakim Noah (149 / 3) though they are still waiting for 5th round pick Ilyasova (35 / 3) to get rolling.
Travys Boys (1-1) (travyboy11) 1397 def Canuck Steelers (0-2) (UnderAchievers) 1388
Heartbreak for the second week in a row for the Canuck Steelers as they could do nothing but sit and watch Travys Boys come from behind and take the win. Ibaka (189 / 4), his OKC team mate Westbrook (181 / 4) and Dwight Howard (125 / 3) doing the damage in one of the last games of the day. Leading for the Canuck Steelers were CP3 (180 / 4), Mayo (170 / 4) and Bosh (165 / 4). Amazingly, Travys Boys is still waiting for Rubio, Stoudemire and Granger to take the court for the first time this season.
Mildura Dunkanauts (2-0) (walesy) 1334 def Broady Broncos (0-2) (nicksnow) 885
After a close matchup last week, the Mildura Dunkanauts could breathe a little easier winning all but one day against the Broady Broncos. Timmy D (217 / 4) was in classic form and had help from Durant (186 / 4) ensured a good win. Only two players hit triple figures for Broady Broncos, Monroe (219 / 4) and D-Wade (125 / 4) as the rest of the squad struggle with injuries during the early season.
CK Nicks (2-0) (costak) 1622 def Everybody Loves Raymond (1-1) (Liquid_sixx) 1401
After a low scoring first week the CK Nicks went bang! Ten players made it to triple figures led by Nuggets the Manimal Faried (186 / 4) and AI2 (161 / 4) with Jazz big man Al Jefferson (159 / 4) rounding out the top three. Dont think Everybody Loves Raymond didnt try and they provided the second biggest bang of the week but there was no catching CK Nicks. Seven players hit the hunderd mark with Irving (171 / 4), Batum (163 /3) topping the list.
Division Two
<div>SmokinJoe Misiti 1196 defeated The Hinrich Manoeuvre 1148
<div>
<div>SmokinJoe got their first win of the season in a close one against the winless Hinrich. Joe got some quality performances from their mid-round draftees with Gortat (179/4), Lee (175/4) and Kidd-Gilchrist (133/3) all averaging over 40ppg for the round. Hinrich on the other hand was hurt by negative scores from Gordon and Odom, and the absent Bogut. CP3 (181/4), Jefferson (159/4) and Monta Ellis (144/3) were Hinrichs top performers.
<div>
<div>Lainos Nuggets 1449 defeated Mookie Blaylock Athletic Club 1390
<div>
<div>This game was neck and neck for most of the week before the Nuggets pulled away late in the rounds highest scoring affair. Laino is undefeated after 2 games after strong performances from Westbrook (182/4), Noah (149/3) and Cousins (133/3). Mookie on the other hand was hurt by Melo playing just 2 games for the round Deron struggling. Key performers though were Z-Bo (183/4), Batum (163/3) and West (136/4).
<div>
<div>The Raptors 1231 defeated Amnesty Clause Candidates 1225
<div>
<div>This was the rounds closest game, with the final result not being decided until the final minutes of the weeks final game. The Raptors reigned supreme in the end though thanks largely to a big week from Rondo (150/3), OJ Mayo (170/4) and Dorell Wright (137/4). Amnesty will be cursing Josh Smiths injury as he got just 42 points from the number 4 pick, but stayed in the game thanks to Faried and Kirilenko each scoring the same high numbers(186/4), and Iggy (161/4) and Curry (155/4) also producing strongly.
<div>
<div>Six Ten Two Forty 1459 defeated Gosford Gunners 1035
<div>
<div>6-10-240 scored the weeks highest score against the Gunners who scored the weeks lowest. 6-10-240 had an impressive 9 players score over 100 points for the week, led by Irving (171/4), Griffin (150/4), and Pierce (143/3). On the other hand Gosford had both Duncan (217/4) and Kobe (158/3) average over 50ppg for the week, and Ibaka (190/4) contribute just under that average, but it was too much left to too few for the Gunners.
<div>
<div>Adelaide Celtics 1292 defeated Doobia Dominators 1131
<div>
<div>The Celtics scored their first win of the season with a strong performance against the winless Dominators. Chris Bosh (165/4), Gay (154/4) and Lawson (142/4) were Adelaides key performers. Doobia had KD (187/4), Dragic (153/4) and Linsanity (112/3) as the only players to break 3 digits for the week. Doobias season doesnt get any easier as they are greeted by last rounds top scorer 6-10-240 in the coming round of games.
<div>
<div>Pegs Men Lethal 1306 defeated Cyril33s Crushers 1284
<div>
<div>The rounds final game saw Peg come from behind and record a 22 point win over the Crushers. Peg scored strongly despite the continued absence of Andrew Bynum, getting big numbers from some of his mid-round picks in George Hill (179/4), Conley Jnr (156/4) and K-Mart (135/4). Cyril was aided by huge numbers from Triple Double Monroe (219/4), Lebron (213/4), and Holiday (181/4) but suffered from poor weeks for Ilyasova and Jennings.
