If youre not already, its time to get psyched about the NBL, as theres only one sleep to go before the new season gets underway.
Patty Mills has come home and Andrew Bogut confirmed today that he will follow in his footsteps very soon, which has brought out a lot of hype and publicity about the new season. Personally I havent been this excited about the NBL for about ten years, or probably more.
Hot off the heals of his <a href="http://www.nbl.com.au/tigers/news/article/2011/september/patty-mills-deadly-awards-sportsman-of-the-year/" target="_blank">Deadly award for Indigenous Sportsmen of the Year, Mills will be suiting up for the first time in the NBL for the Melbourne Tigers on opening night against the Sydney Kings, who may just be sporting their own prized rookie - none other than Andrew Bogut, the first ever Aussie to be picked #1 in the NBA draft. Patty is easily my most favorite player at the moment, and Im sooo excited that hell be in the NBL for a bit. Melbourne come over to Perth (where I currently reside) to play the Wildcats in round 2, so I am eagerly awaiting that game and Ill be there with me bells on! (If Jet pulls through ) Im also selfishly hoping the NBA lockout lasts at least until after that game .
Sydney are the front runners for Boguts signature; however it is not official yet, and may not be until moments before tipoff! They have apparently sent him a play book to make sure he is up to speed if able to play on opening night; however it is now increasingly likely that he will not play in round 1.
But if it does eventuate this way - what a first up matchup it will be! I am a soccer fan as well, and I reckon Bogues v Mills is a far more attractive matchup than Emerton v Kewell in round 1 of the A-league happening on the same weekend. Sydney is an interesting team for him to sign with, as they already have the most dominant big man in the league in Julian Kazzough... Which makes it so intriguing to see how they play them together. Will Kazzough end up 6th man of the year? ... doubt it, but who will play at 4 and who at 5? And how often will they be on the court together. Any which way they go though, they will have a pretty intimidating and dominant front court, that only Perth will come even close to matching in a guard heavy league.
Now join me over the break where Ill look at the fantasy league we got going::::::::::::
<!--more-->
So we have a TS league in the <a href="http://dreamteam.nbl.com.au/" target="_blank">official NBL comp, that is already full...
Throughout the season, I plan to do a weekly writeup for this league outlining how we all go each week. It is my first time taking the fantasy NBL seriously, let alone Too Seriously, so Im looking forward to it. Should be a lot of fun.
The 12 teams are as follows (With the owners TS User Name afterwards, but with ?? if Im unsure):
Bunchalosers - Parasite??
Deadly mills - anthak
Bearfly - Bearfly
Duncans Troops - Sainter??
Don Cottagers - Don Cottagers
dabombers - dabombers
King Kong - Under Achievers??
Nothin But String - ??
Team Stowie - Stowie
Cryil33s Crushers - ??
Maxys Marvels - ??
Crossy Crusaders - ??
There we have it... although can everyone come forward and state your allegiances please.
Before I finish up, I also want to remind everyone that, despite the current state of the NBA lockout (which isnt great at all), we are still moving through the setup of our NBA leagues and Ill post some more about that in the comments of this thread over the coming days.
So stay tuned. But in the mean time, lets get some NBL talk happening!
Whos going to a game this weekend, or are you gonna watch the telly on mega delay? And how are your fantasy teams coming along?
