Round 5 proved to be another quality round for the Too Serious league, with 3 games being decided by 10 points or less. Â We also saw a couple of teams flex their fantasy muscle and stay ahead of the pack but just about everyone is within 2 games of the leaders so its still anybodys from here. Â Probably the most interesting news to come out of NFL fantasy this week was the scores that many of the S/DTs rewarded their owners with. Â Plenty of scores in the teens and a couple that were larger than that, but the three biggest scorers were left to rot on the pine. Â Each conference has a clear leader now and in the West, Boldin Showers is coming off a three game winning streak and is looking like hes ready to take all-comers. Â So onto the review...<!--more-->
Ill start the week off with the biggest win of the week. Â This week the prize goes to my boys, MR WIGGLES(e) who were too strong for ADELAIDE MAGGOTS(e) 101-53. Â Finally the wiggles were able to snap a three game losing streak, albeit, a very patchy performance carried over the line by a few standout performances. Â Matt Forte topped the league scoring for the week with 30, and supported by stand-in QB Shaun Hill who got a tidy 22. Â I was also helped along by the Bears giving me 18 for the week. Â But with the good comes the bad and the two 0s were the evidence of a thin roster. Â The Maggots really had no shining light with veteran WR Terrell Owens top scoring with 16. Â Add that to two 0s also and a QB that could only manage 4 and youve got yourself a bona-fide shocker.
Next up, TEAM STOWIE(e), leader of the eastern conference  held his nerve to get over DOOBIA DOOBS(e) 81-72.  This was despite two 0s and the Rams scoring -6.  This match-up came down to the final half of the last game and for a while there it looked like we were going to have the upset of the round, but alas, it was not to be.  Scores of 20 from the QB and 21 from WR were enough to see Stowie home, despite Doobs Miami posting 16 points and having only one 0.  Despite the close shave Stowie still leads the conference, but considering the loss last week and the near loss this week he is ripe for the picking and things are looking shaky at the top of the ladder.
The third game saw two of the most consistent performers pitted against each other. Â It was UNDER ACHIEVERS(w) up against THE PACK(w) and despite having 4 players on a bye week it was the UAs that got up 100-82. Â In the end UAs had the more all -round performance with 5 players managing double points including a great 19 from his Falcons. Â The Pack had 2 players in the 20s including a game high 25 from his WR and had he put the right players on the park he would of got up. Â A great game lads, all the way down to Tuesdays game and even then it took till the second half for the UAs to ice it.
The game between TOO SERIOUSESES(e) and AUSSIE BATTLERS(e) followed the same course as most matches this week. Â Another game in which no one player stood out and both D/STs were solid, but there can only be one winner and this prize went to the TSes 96-78. Â It was a victory which propelled TSes into outright second in the conference and sets up a showdown next week when Walesy takes on the form side of the comp Boldin Showers. Â He knocked off top spot before, can he do it again? Â For the Battlers there is plenty to work with and he should be up for another close one next week against the UAs.
Finally we saw BOLDIN SHOWERS(w) keep his lead at the top, downing SAM CROW(w) 104-97. Â Again both players left valuable points sitting on the bench including Sam Crow leaving a 25 from the back up WR. Â A week ago this looked like being a battle of the form QBs with Michael Vick taking on Peyton Manning but Vick got injured and Manning put in his worst performance of the year being outscored by his brother Eli. Â Fortunately for BS the decision to start the wrong Manning brother didnt come back to bite him. Â This now sets up a great game next week with the two form teams meeting each other when TSes meet BS, both coming off a string of victories. Â For Sam Crow he was a little unlucky that the chargers who had a great 25 last week got smashed and only offered a shocking -4, but theres always next week.
So that about wraps up the wrap up.  There should be a few cracking matches next week and hopefully the leaders will come back to the pack to keep this a very close league.  The byes are again a factor this coming round with Buffalo, Cincinnati, Arizona and Carolina all having the week off  so check the free agents to fill the gaps.  Cmon Patriots!
