Round 8 provided another really close round with a few upsets, a couple of close ones and the odd belting. It was a cross conference round with East taking on West in all five matches, with The west proving eventual winners 3-2. The big news from the league is the end of Boldin Showers five game winning streak, taken down in a close one by Team stowie and propelling stow to the top of the east ladder.

In the NFL this week it was a case of life imitating fantasy. Only three weeks ago Randy Moss was cut be the Patriots and picked up by the Vikings. After three disappointing weeks and a few eyebrow raising post match remarks from Moss he was again cut and sent to the waiver list. Sounds a bit like my roster! Other big news included the continual beating Brett Favre gets every week, again leaving the field early after this time getting a knock on the chin, have we finally seen the last of Favre? The patriots won again, giving them a league best 6-1 record and well on the way to taking out their division and on the flip side the Cowboys stank it up again. This time it was so bad the team owner came out and apologised to the fans and pleaded with them to stick by the team, season over for them and it wasnt even October yet. Anyway onto the league review...

Well start the week with the belting. Yes it was my boys, MR WIGGLES(e) getting a touch up at the hands of SAM CROW(w) 106-58. Sam Crow put in a very impressive effort having three of his players score in the twenties with Calvin Johnson scoring three touchdowns on his way to a game high 28 points. I had a shocker with Brady top scoring with a pretty miserable 13.

The biggest upset of the round was the defeat of TOO SERIOUSESES(e) to bottom side DOOBIA DOOBS(w) 77-41. What made it even more embarrassing for Tseses is that Doobs gave up a few weeks back and had started three players on byes! Tseses were terrible, three zeros and a D/ST on a bye did not help matters but a score of 44 and top scorer only pulling 14 is not going to win you too many matches and now leaves the team 2 games behind the div leader and in a bit of bother at the bottom of the conference ladder. Huge game next week Walesy!

In one of the highest scoring games of the year THE PACK(w) were too strong for AUSSIE BATTLERS(e) 126-96. The pack had an impressive 6 players return double digit scores led by Foster with 22 and the lowest scores being a not too bad 8 from a couple of others. It was probably the most complete performance weve seen from anyone this year. For the battlers, just unlucky you had this match-up this week because 96 would win you games most weeks of the year I reckon.

When TEAM STOWIE(e) came up against the league leader BOLDIN SHOWERS(w) I thought he had no chance. Stowie had been ordinary the past few weeks and had lost top spot in the East, whereas BS had looked strong at the top, always winning the tight ones. How wrong I was, Stowie scored a handy 96 to hold out BS by 12 (96-84). It was a solid performance from Stowie, no huge individual scores but a great team effort. This takes Stowie back to the top of the East and BS within a game of the challengers in the West.

Finally we come to the close one. ADELAIDE MAGGOTS(e) holding on over UNDER ACHIEVERS(w) 76-73. This was despite the maggots having Randy Moss in the starting team which returned him a big fat zero, this guy is supposed to be a superstar, right? It was the top scoring Packers and Terrel Owens with 18 each that proved the difference with 5 players overall returning double digit scores to the UAs 2. Both these teams are 2 games behind their conference leaders and really need the wins from here on in.

So thats about it. Round 9 is just around the corner and there are only 5 rounds to go so those who are a bit behind its time to knuckle down. Realistically only Doobia Doobs is out of it but as i mentioned before, i think he gave up a few weeks back. Not a lot on the wire at the moment and it looks like most squads are settled but there hasnt been a trade yet, so maybe its time to take a risk and see whats up for the taking. Till next week... Cmon Pats!
