Due to Xeno being MIA currently, Terry has kindly provided some words of encouragement for you ORFFA peoples, so Ill hand it over to him for your latest preview of matches.
Round 16
Not sure who we are appreciating this week, but it is the ORFFA penultimate round, so that means have your pen ready Fitzy.
<!--more-->
Kicking off the laughs will be the Cockies, Gariwerd (12) hosting Marble Bar (15). Only 9 points separated these teams last round, so expect a tight one.
Namatjira (16), despite their lowly position topped 1200 last week, but they won’t have it all their own way as Jolcon assures us Birdsville (9) will enter a team of melons this time around. Going to be one hot and dusty (and thirsty) footy match.
Match of the round looked to be The Battle of the Bottoms as Nunnawading (18) host the Whitsunday Warriors (17), but Jory having a sore foot has dampened the cocktail spirits somewhat.
Darraweit Guim (3), despite not having a team song, have been travelling nicely and will be a tough ask for the Kiwis. The Waikicks (13) were a bit unlucky to go down to the Cockies last week and Sammy could have made the difference.
Another done and dusty meeting will be Iron Knob (2) hosting Powlett Plains (14). Can P’rap pull a rabbit out of the hat? Perhaps not. Plagued by injury in the latter half of the season, his ladder position does not reflect his philosophy. Or does it?
Mount Beauty (6) have been travelling well without any huge scores and they take on Far Kew (11). Will the Frogs be daring enough this week to enter a team? Or must we spank them?
Charlie’s Opening (4) will host Venus Bay (10) and I would like to say not much separates these teams, but there are enough naughty connotations in there without adding that. Big chance for Fitzy to come home with a wet sail.
Frozen chicken anyone? Foul Bay (1) have to travel to Mawson (5) and there is no guarantee the Penguins will turn up. So the chooks may have to stand around freezing their giblets off. No special dispensation for being our outright winner this year, but Tuckie’s beard should come in handy.
For the real match of the round we need look no further than Cradle Mountain (8) taking on Gundagai (7). Only 4 points separated these two last week and if Snoz’s daughter can get the Captain choice right, the Grasshoppers are a show, despite the long journey. Big Lance will welcome the return of Buddy, while whoever has Duckwood is welcome to join Jory at the Tiki Bar.
