<p style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]Once again in the ORFFA, we have Mark Seaby Round in remembrance of pick 429 of our inaugural draft, where Foul Bay attempted to pick Seaby, but realised he had already been selected at pick 430 by Birdsville :)
    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]Ruckmen have made some teams this year, and have cost some teams a win, some their chance at finals, and for some, their entire season.
    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]1402 Birdsville Battlers vs Foul Bay Chickens 1489
<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]The Chooks pulled one out of the bag in this match of the round between first and fifth. JC had the Battlers up and about early, with Bachar Houli kicking to the flanks instead of up the guts, giving Enright and Tom McD a much needed chop out in the back line. The Chooks forward line responded well with a combined score of 386 across the line, but it was in the guts where the game was won. In a rather strange move, ChiefBet opted to leave Zac Smith on the pine in recognition of Seaby, and went with the shortest man in his team, Matthew Stokes, to take on Big Boy McEvoy in the ruck. The Stokes move ended up being a masterstoke (see what I did there), with Danger, Cunnington and Selwood ripping the clearances to shreds. Foul Bay will be worried coming into finals without a ruck however, and only time will tell if they will pay the price. Birdsville, harbouring hopes of a Top 4 finish, will lick their wounds and come back for a must win game against Darraweit Guim this week.

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]1302 Gariwerd Cockatoos vs Marble Bar Misfits 935
<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]With neither team playing finals footy this season, this was a chance for both coaches to blood some new players and to get some miles into the legs. Gariwerd turned up to play, with Wallis and Bundy having solid games. For the Misfits, it was a forgettable day, with too much left to too few. Gariwerd comfortably in this one.
    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]832 Wagga Wagga Wombats vs Cradle Mountain Devils 1127
<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]Wagga Wagga put on a splendid show for Devil Legend Adam Goodes, applauding every time he went near the ball. This was one of the few good things to come out of this game however, with both teams fielding incomplete teams due to injuries and suspensions. Wagga only had one player ton up and Cradle Mountain only two, although they both went big (Pendles 129 and Zorko The Magnificent 134). The weather didn't help things, with the slippery ball and horrible playing surface making it look more like a slip'n'slide than a game of footy. The teams will be looking to finish the season on a high next week, however they both have difficult matches.
    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]970 Lovely Banks Lilacs vs Darraweit Guim Dirigibles 1191
<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]The Blimps and The Lilacs decided to relocate the game to one of the Pacific Islands this week, the cold snap in Lovely Banks turning the ground rock hard. This however led to an outbreak of minor injuries, caused by cocktail umbrellas poking players in the eyes, wrist sprains from romantic walks on the beach and bad cases of chafe from not showering after a swim. In the end the Guim look to have cemented their spot in the top 8, but they were far from convincing.
    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]1167 Nunawading Nuffers vs Larrikin Lagoon Lefties 1383
<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]The Nuffers ran into the juggernaut that is Larrikin Lagoon, who have hit form at exactly the right time of the year. The Lefties midfield scored a massive 461, and with the dual ruck combo of Goldy and Ceglar taking NicNat out of the game altogether the Nuffers had no response. With the Lagoon flying, but no chance of a Top 4 spot, the unlucky top team to gets them in first week of the finals will be very nervous indeed. As for the Nuffers, the Cheerleaders have threatened to go on strike unless performances improve, with Conca, Neade and Varcoe right in the gun.
    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]1073 Waikikamoocow Incorrigibles vs Powlett Plains Packers 1286
<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]3rd vs 6th should have meant for a tasty matchup, but the pinot swillers failed to show their true colours and the Pack just rumbled on over them. With Jacobs and Sandilands going hammer and tongs in the ruck, the clearances would decide the fate of the match, and the Packers mids of Carazzo, Mundy and Sloane all went beserk, putting pressure on the Cows 3 man back line. Waikickamoocow also had no rotations for the game, resulting in the players blowing up with lactic acid mid way through the 3rd quarter. Prap's team put them to the sword, running out comfortable 213 point winners.
    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]1419 Venus Bay Vultures vs Whitsunday Warriors 1055
<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]2nd vs 14th didn't look promising, but the Warriors had won three on the trot, and coach Fitzy was concerned about the Vultures being game ready for this. He had nothing to fear though, as the match was over very early on in proceedings. Even with Dayne Beams being a late withdrawal, the Vultures had 8 players ton up, with Jesse Hogan looking like something very very special. Coach Terry may have been suffering from post election hangover, however the enquiry into the claims that he inappropriately used his company credit card to hire a helicopter to fly from Hook Island to Pippie Beach has not concluded yet.
    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]1096 Gundagai Grasshoppers vs Charlies Opening 1230
<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]The Spelunkers have been sitting around 9th and 10th all year, and coach Bandit has been oscillating between tanking for draft picks and trying to play finals. It appears he is going to succeed in doing neither well, and sN0Z was quietly hoping he might nick a win on the weekend but it was not to be. Bandit ran out with 3 ruckmen, setting up in a tripod formation on occasion. Dirigibles Coach Chris was known to chortle when Bandit named Giles on the bench, but his 106 paid back the faith shown by his coach. Both sides ran out fairly young lineups, but Rising Star favourite Cripps gave Gundagai supporters enough to believe that a franchise can be built around him, and with a swag of players under 21 the future looks bright for the Hoppers. Spelunkers by134.
    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]1309 Mount Beauty Uglies vs Iron Knob Codpieces 1377
<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]In a danger game for the Codpieces, coach Bama had his ugly unit fired up for the match at their home ground in Dederang, and they came out firing with Dusty, Cyril, and Boyd winding back the clock. Jack Viney revelled in the conditions, and Jimbo muct have been worried that the codpieces were going to chafe at the line. However it was the older players who responded for Iron Knob, with Waite, Burgoyne, Swan and Hanleygetting the job done. Like Foul Bay, the Codpieces will be worried about not having a playing ruck coming into finals, as Colin Garland is clearly not getting the job done.
    <div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]

<div style='color: #222222; background-color: #ffffff;]Next week is the last game before finals... Foul Bay will run out minor premiers, but there is still some positioning for the all important 4th spot, with 5th playing 8th and 2nd playing 6th.

% booster for the Chooks this weekend. If they can get over the first finals hump, should be a breeze from there.

      Nice one Bandito.

      Bloody classic stuff Bandit.

Reckon there will be a bit of top of the table tanking to avoid the likelihood of facing the Goonies in the first round of finals.

Top work Banditto - you rock baby! Could you please explain to my squad about 'rotations.' They seem to be tactically inept and prefer to stay on the track, try to hog the ball thereby denying the opponents. Those that actuall play that is; what the other 16 would have done last week is part of the great unknowable. Sadly, they think it is reality when in fact it is fantasy. Perhaps if some of them would get out of their sick beds I could actually rotate them.

It will be intriguing to see whether the hobbling Cows are the first pick or whether chief bet thinks there is an even easier beat (see what I did there - think 'Friday on my Mind'). The team carcass might be picked over by Fitzy's Vultures in consecutive weeks. Some of blokes (H Mac, D Simpson) are carrying enough condition to allow his flock two weeks of gorging.

I do have a tough decision to make. Teams in the bottom half of the eight are generally performing as well, if not better than teams in the top half of the eight. I will be completely honest in saying that I was looking to play Iron Knob in the first round had they finished there, particularly if we were both playing without a ruck, figuring that I have to play them sometime, better to play them when they are weakest. But they will finish top 4 so that is out the window.

I'm probably over thinking it (as I always do at this time of year), but I am looking at what some of the other matchups might be based on my decision. Probably should just worry about my own backyard, but the problem is I'm not particularly confident what is in my own backyard so I am trying to maximise what advantage I have by finishing on top.
