ORFFA Round 2 (AFL Round 2) Tasmanian celebration round With news this week unveiling the name and guernsey for the *other* league's new Tasmanian team, we here in the ORFFA revel in our forward thinking and celebrate the lovely franchises from the Apple Isle that are already part of our league. That *other* league are just a bunch of copycats, anyway. So, grab an apple, kiss a thylacine, wrestle a devil and cuddle a Tasmanian pademelon, but most importantly, include a Tasmanian in your team. Just make sure they are not Carlton or Brisbane players, because they have the bye. Dungbeetles are not renowned for producing mathematicians, however all the latest AI has informed the coaching and player group that they can continue to train like grinners, and that the four points from Opening Round is in the post. We're a simple mob down here in the Busselton backwaters and we will continue to remain delighted until the sumptuous one delights us with a musical soliloquy. In the meantime we have now set our sights on the birdbrained battlers at Birdsville who look very gettable this week with Carlton and Brisbane on the bye. The dream run continues.
Hmmm, your statisticians have been feeding some interesting data into the AI Model it seems. As one of the foundation Tasmanian clubs, the Spelunkers welcome the other mob finally catching up to the trendsetters in Wineglass Bay, Cradle Mountain and Charlie's Opening

Well that is doing it tough. Hopefully Ryan, Flanders and Rowbottom can go really big and make it a contest!
Eh, it is what it is. I did get a playing ruck in Moyle, which is great, but then lost a defender with Witherden not making the cut. So swings and roundabouts I guess.
Cradle Mountain Round 2 Team to hit the road and play the Gundagai Grasshoppers Out: B Cox (hamstring), J Hopper (knee), D Zorko (managed) In: J Battle, R Ginbey, D Wilson New: Darcy Wilson (ORFFA debut),Josh Battle (club debut for the Devils) Def: N Vlastuin, D Heppell, J Lever, J Battle (J Laverde) Mid: J Steele, S Pendlebury, S Sidebottom, R Ginbey (E Langdon) Ruc: T English Fwd: T Hawkins, A Naughton, J Gresham, D Wilson (L Murphy) Int: R Marshall, T Nankervis (S Banks) In Round 1 Cradle Mountain were happy with our offensive output in a home game to score 1,316 points, ranked fourth in the ORFFA for the round. The Devils defense on the other hand left a lot to be desired with our opponents the Birdsville Battlers belying their name to post a massive score of 1,504 to lead the league for the round. Congratulations on the win and an extremely impressive Birdsville performance @JC. Two players are out of the CMD Round 2 team with injury – defender Brennan Cox (hamstring) and midfielder Jacob Hopper (knee). The Cradle Mountain medical team informed the coaching staff that forward Dayne Zorko had to be managed this week which seems a bit strange given that it is only Round 2 of the ORFFA season. The three Devils inclusions are second year midfielder Reuben Ginbey and two players making their first senior appearance for Cradle Mountain. 2024 PSD first round selection forward/midfielder Darcy Wilson makes his ORFFA debut and former Battler, defender Josh Battle makes his club debut for the Devils. Like @Bandit, I welcome the new Tasmanian team joining the AFL. Tasmania has had a strong ORFFA presence from its inception with two foundation clubs, Bandit’s Charlies Opening Spelunkers and my Cradle Mountain Devils having been in the league sine the inaugural 2012 season. The Tassie representation was enhanced when @Tracey took over as Head Coach of the Powlett Plains Packers in 2016 with the club moving to the Apple Isle and being rebranded as the Wineglass Bay Packers. It may have required some arm twisting of head honchos at Warner Brothers to get them on board with the Tasmanian AFL team using the nickname of the Devils but at Cradle Mountain we are more than happy to share the Devils name with our AFL counterparts the Tasmania Devils. For Tasmania Celebration Round in the ORFFA the Cradle Mountain Devils have two Tasmanians in their squad of 19, ruckman and vice captain Toby Nankervis on the interchange and defender Sam Banks as the interchange emergency. If last week’s scores are anything to go off CMD's match this week will be very close. Round 2 hosts, the Gundagai Grasshoppers scored 1,311 points, five points shy of the Devils tally. At home the Hoppers are favourites but if Cradle Mountain are good enough to make it a close game I am hoping that luck is on the side of the Devils.
I've had to make a couple of tweaks to my forwards and bench among Sunday players because of injuries. But we are locked in now, thankfully.
Lefties primed for another Trogg belting this week Def - Wilmot, Hardwick, Buderick, Perryman (Coffield) Mid - Henry, Bonner, Simpkin, Anderson (Wehr) Ruck - Xerri Fwd - Jordan, MacDonald, MacKenzie, Lazarro (Georgiades) IC - Rioli, Hill (Burgoyne)
just a small point @That KI Guy - you do not have a player called Jordan. His name is James Jordon. Might not matter to some heathens, but we should have enough pride in our players to spell their names correctly.
Not the start of the year the Vultures were after! Sloppy selection week 1 and just a rocky performance week 2, hopefully onwards and upwards from here!
