ORFFA Round 7/AFL Round 7 Friday 28th April

    THEME – Retro Round

Once, long ago, there were teams that took to the field with yellow shorts. Or red shorts. Or gold shorts. Or short shorts. All with straight faces too – though those faces were often hidden underneath formidable facial hair.

This week we start our drive for the return of compulsory gold shorts wearing. In fact, yes, let’s do it – we proclaim that all ORFFA teams must wear gold shorts this week to mark Retro Round.

On the field, however, teams can wear whatever colour shorts they like.

Foul Bay Chickens v Charlies Opening Spelunkers
Gariwerd Cockatoos v Dunsborough Dung Beetles
Gundagai Grasshoppers v Cradle Mountain Devils
Iron Knob Codpieces v Birdsville Battlers
Larrikin Lagoon Lefties v Wineglass Bay Packers
Lovely Banks Lilacs v Whitsunday Warriors
Marble Bar Misfits v Waikikamoocow Incorrigibles
Mt Beauty Uglies v Wagga Wagga Wombats
Nareewillock Nuffers v Venus Bay Vultures

Retro Round Gold Shorts Team for the Nuffers (subject to tweaking depending on final lineups)

D: Redman, Richards, Clark, Murphy (Miller)
    M: Rowell, Serong, Warner, Ross
    R: Soldo (Coleman-Jones)
F: Cameron, Gulden, Horne-Francis, Daniels (Long)
    I/C: Cumberland, Ryan (Amiss)

Welcome back Ross, Soldo, Coleman-Jones and Murphy.

We won't be wearing gold shorts into the game against Venus Bay (the team has been wearing them around town the past few days and getting many an admiring glance, I might add).

We are looking at a more musk pink get up this week - a nod towards the team being in the pink of health and having 20+ players fit to select from for the first time in many a moon.

The Waikicks, in a nod to old school attire, will be wearing form fitting, skin tight (unsure of the difference) lurex gold lame shorts with their team numbers picked out in sparkling rhinestones. Topped off by off the shoulder shirts in a fetching mix of rainbow colours. Complemented by sparkling gold boots. The players drew the line at bouffant hair styling. Must be said that not all players are happy with their outfits. Anyways, it's an away game with no free to air TV coverage so they are (reluctantly) going along with this interpretation of the theme of the round. Comments in the Bullshit Tavern should be lively.

Facing the Misfits at this stage we will likely be the following line up (assuming no hissy fits on the day):
    D: N Newman, B Campbell, B Williams, R Burton (K Coleman)
    M: T Mitchell, B Crouch, T Sparrow, C Taylor (M Johnson)
    T: R O'Brien
    F: J Dunkley, T Papley, B Close, Z Bailey
    I: J Finlayson, M Owens

It's a pretty young team as we transition from the old guard to a new look outfit.

Best of luck @Len - we have had some terrific tussles in the past, let's hope this is another.

Lefties definitely not worthy of the gold shorts. We’ll be donning the baby shit orange garb in honour of the mighty trendsetting HB Torana hue.

Expecting a tight tussle vs the Packers, hoping my midfield can finally show up.
