Mid Season Draft begins: Midnight Friday June 24th Rules: 6(b) The PSD and the MSD in each season will commence on designated times and dates to be advised by the ORFFF Commissioner and/or Board, with a time lime limit of 18 hours for each pick. 6(c) It should be the intent of each coach to make their selection as soon as possible when it comes to their pick, with the time limit only in place for emergencies etc, so that the draft can keep moving if someone is not available for any unforeseen reason. 6(d) If in either the PSD or MSD a coach does not pick within their allocated time, they will be given the highest ranked player on the previous season SC averages (PSD) or current SC season averages (MSD). If the time limit isn't practical for a coach, they must notify the ORFFF in advance; i.e. if it is one or two picks before yours but you are flat out at work or have a wedding etc then post that you may need to extend your time. Alternatively, nominate a proxy and give them a standby list. 6(e) Teams involved in a draft must continue to draft until their lists are at 30 players. 6(f) as stated at 5(e), the MSD is not compulsory to participate in for teams who have 30 players. Here is the updated draft order following the trade period. We will update again following the delist deadline of Midday Thursday June 23rd. MSD Free Agent List updated for Rd13 games (ie updated stats in yellow for Free Agents and Delisted Free Agents highlighted in Purple) note I haven't included every new player from Round 13 so some who have played only 1 game might not be shown @JPK
Not overly important but the abbreviations for DDB/DBB and WPW/WIW are really similar. Would suggest changing a couple, eg DDB -> DRO WPW -> WAL
Fair enough, but I think it makes sense to keep them uniform, ie all acronyms or all the first 3 letters of the first word. I think it gets confusing when it is a mix of different style abbreviations. And I acknowledge that all are not currently strictly acronyms, but its close to it.
It should be clear for first glance which team is which, and as you said they don't all follow a uniform rule anyway.
The above list should be who picks where and rather than redo the whole thing perhaps Walpole and Drouin can be more clearly identified when the order is edited for live picks only. Maybe Drouin and Walpole need to change their nicknames to the Walpole Angry Lemmings (WAL) and the Drouin Rough Oranges (DRO) respectively for the duration of the draft then swap back later ? In all seriousness I would like my official team acronym - as per the ladder and other places - changed to BLA and I think all coaches should have the opportunity to switch if they wish. Perhaps this can be sorted out at the end of 2016 if it causes too many TS system issues to do so midseason.
Responding to the serious parts, I don't see a particular problem with people choosing their own, assuming it's clear. The TS system is straightforward as its in the edit team part, you only do it once. Anyone capable of copy+pasting with an Office program (MS Word) could change the OP if any new abbreviations are used. Find & Replace tool.
I tried to chnage my team abbreviation prior to the season starting and it seemed to revert back shortly thereafter, not sure if this was because it might throw out the fixture if that has been loaded with BST ?
Yeah good ideas. It would be somewhat problematic to change midseason. The fixture would need updating. Would have to check with walesy about how that would effect existing results. It would be easier to put it off. I like the idea of coaches picking their own However first 3 letters of first word is probably smarter - to avoid confusions Even though i do like my gender specific acronym
I know we probably can't change it for this year as its not enough notice, but why is there a 36 hour period after delistings before the draft starts? Unless I'm reading it wrong and the draft actually starts tonight at midnight?
When the board were deciding the dates, we first thought to have a 12 hour gap, but we werent sure it would be enough time for coaches to look at delistments before the draft started, so we decided to push it back a day.
^^ updated Free Agents Doco in the post below the OP, it only lists 266 of 370 or so nonlisted AFL players including 190 who have played in 2016 and should have most of the likely draftees
I'll start the draft now, there's only an hour to midnight. I've edited the first post with the draft order but please, admins or someone, monitor the actual draft. I have no interest in trying to help run 2 of these at the same time.
With the 1st Pick in the Mid Season Draft, the Walpole Woylies select: Darcy Byrne-Jones, of the Port Adelaide Power. @ViQBoZ
At pick 3, Heard Island select Josh Wagner from Melbourne, regretfully ceasing the mini run of hyphenated surnames that began the draft... Maybe a bit early for him, but i dont think he'd last until my next pick.
