The Round 6 fixture is as follows (teams currently in the 8 in bold):- Rutherglen Fugitives (4-1) vs Port Lincoln Power (3-2) A strong defence has assisted Port Lincoln to 3 wins, however the hosts appear to be red hot favourites in this match. The Fugs lead the H2H 2 nil and the Power will be looking to avenge a tough loss in Round 2 2017 where they scored their highest ever ORFFF score and were still defeated. Cockburn Avengers (4-1) vs Mt Thirsty Boozers (3-2) 4th plays 7th and this match can't come soon enough for the reigning premiers who will be keen to take the 4 points against a side currently sitting higher up the ladder. The H2H is 1 apiece with the Boozers running up a mammoth club record total of 1519 last time they clashed in Round 8, 2017, with the 359 point margin being the respective clubs highest win/loss margins. Neptune Island Noahs (4-1) vs Jan Juc Ducks (2-3) This contest shapes as the match of the round with the Ducks next 3 weeks shaping as a difficult run but with a chance to break into the top 8 theirs for the taking if they can grasp their opportunities. Jan Juc lead the H2H 2-1 having comfortably won both clashes in 2017 including a semi final (Round 21) victory that ended the Noahs premiership defence. Black Swamp 29ers (5-0) vs Wedge Island White Pointers (0-5) The 29ers will be looking to open their H2H account after 2 previous losses against a White Pointers side that languishes in 15th position, with the most recent encounter a 4 point thriller in Round 15, 2017. Useless Loop Virgins (3-2) vs Drouin Dropbears (2-3) The Virgins appear to be top 4 contenders and will need to bring their a-game to defeat a Dropbears outfit that has won their last 2 games. The Virgins are 0 from 3 against the Dropbears in the H2H including the 2016 Preliminary Final, the teams last clashed in Round 14, 2017. Maralinga Atoms (3-2) vs Nangkita Bucks (2-3) With both teams having lost 2 straight this game will definitely bring a change of fortunes for one of them. The H2H is 1 all with Maralinga winning their last clash in Round 15, 2017 by 79 points. Mole Creek Glow-Worms (0-5) vs Walpole Woylies (3-2) The Woylies will be too good for the Glow-Worms who bring a 9 game losing streak into the contest. The H2H is 1 apiece with the Woylies winning in Round 13, 2017 when the teams last clashed. Heard Island Shags (1-4) vs Macquarie Island Whales (1-4) The teams with the worst 2 defences in the comp through 5 rounds clash, with the Whales the favourites to register their 2nd win of 2018. The Whales are 2 from 2 against the Shags, with both victories by triple digits, including Round 4, 2017. In intercomp contests Cockburn @Len hosts Coolgardie from the ORFFU in one of the ORFF* knockout Semi Finals while Rutherglen @tyze1 and Neptune Island @That KI Guy clash in a sudden death qualifier for the ORFF* Champions League which promises to be an epic test of where both teams are at in the 2nd month of the season. Billy Stretch and Jordan Roughead will also play in the seconds having failed to make the 26 for their AFL teams. Viney appears to be 1-2 weeks away from a season debut while Reid is out of action until after the byes.
Early in the 4th quarter at Black Swamp the home team are currently on 12/1254 with an imposing lead over the visiting White Pointers @Bearfly on 13/943 (including Blicavs oop in the ruck). The 29ers have S Edwards, JDG and S Hill still to play on Sunday, with Hogan and T Adams still to run out for the visitors.
In a low scoring affair. The Boozers are 980 with Hurley cripps and Fritsch to come be the avengers all out for 1017 with one short due to the late out of parfitt.
The Virgin's are on 791/9 87.9 while the Dropbears keep pace on 777/9 86.3 Anyone's game at this point with some very interesting match ups @stowie Players to come for the home side are Hurn, Mundy, Neale, Sandilands, JJK & Phillips and for the visitors Conca, Sheppard, Shuey, Leunberger, Walters & Melksham
Early stages but the Ducks are making me eat my words. Noahs 763/9 vs Ducks 536/5 Douglas, Robbo and Boak all playing out of their feathers.
Update from the Vineyard Its mid way through the third and the Power have opened up a small lead over the complacent Fugitives. With an extra two players in the shed the Fugitives remain favorites over the plucky Power outfit. RGF 798/10/80 PLP 861/12/72 The Fugitives to bring it home with Pendlebury, Cotchin, Goddard, Parish & Salem, whilst the Power look to hold on with Prestia, Rance & Vlaustin @MrsBear
In the battle for Southern Ocean Bragging rights the Shags at 544/6 (90.66667) @anthak and are well ahead of the whales who have struggled to 9/638 (70.88889) once again we are failing to provide any defensive effort with disappointing performances from a range of experienced players again letting down a team that contains a few season best performances this week.
Think I ended up just getting pipped for the 3rd time this year. And I'm now the "proud" owner of the top two highest losing scores in the ORFFF!
Its over at the Vineyard with the Fugitives doing enough to get the points over the Power in an uninspiring clash Fugitives 1270 Power 1064
