If we had a schedule that we kept to in rolling out the ORFFL team entry page, we'd probably be behind it. But we don't so it doesn't matter. You like ad-hoc? I call it community development.
So what I'm asking you all to do is bear with us until we get it up and running (TBD).
To enter your team for R1 you can either:
a) post it in this thread
b) PM it to me
c) email it to me
R1 2013 will work surprisingly much like R1 2012. Meaning:
a) players selected playing in this weekend's matches will be locked in as of 8:10pm ACDT, Friday 22nd March.
b) players playing in the RIC/CAR match will be locked in as of 7:45pm AEDT, Thursday 28th March.
c) all other players will be locked in at 1:40pm AEDT, Saturday 30th March.
The emergency loophole is in effect in this split round. For instance, if you want to select an Adelaide player as an emergency, find he scores well on Friday, and then select a non playing player in his particular line to reap the rewards, you're more than welcome to.
However...
CLUBS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT A FULL SIDE OF 15 PLAYERS PLUS 4 EMERGENCIES.
Meaning if all 26 of your club's players play in R1, that loophole is closed for you. With great risk comes great reward.
AIRING OF GRIEVANCES/DISCUSSION OF RULES
At a glance, the post draft trade period/trade veto rules have been causing a bit of angst. I'll put my hand up and say that the post draft period could have been better organised, but was flat out over Saturday with a mate's bucks and then dead on Sunday because of it. Also, I thought it would run itself and there didn't seem to be much point making a new thread on Monday when it was going to be over the next night.
Regarding the veto rule, here's the history as I remember it:
The 50% veto rule was brought in pre-2012 season principally to:
a) prevent collusion and stop people from self-murdering their teams and putting the integrity of the competition at risk
b) decentralise the power involved in calling that out
The idea behind it's implementation was that if 50% of teams not participating in the trade decided to independently veto it, it must be pretty bad.
This rule, as we know, was changed during this year's draft period to a 5-vote majority in favour of the negative for a trade to be canned. This was changed following a consensus of ORFFL coaches voting.
FTR, it has never been a requirement for coaches to provide reason(s) for casting a veto, just as coaches are not required to voice reason(s) behind a trade/draft/selection decision. They are of course welcome to give an explanation if they so desire on either/any count.
Personally, I don't think it should be a requirement for coaches to give reasons behind any team decision they make. I see it as being required to outline your strategy regarding your team which weakens your bargaining position in future dealings, plus I respect the right of silence immensely (much love for Doobs).
If you feel differently or have thoughts you wish to add, please, speak up now (or in the future).
Regarding the stringency of rules being applied; I can't remember it being brought up this stridently before, but this is what it's like from my end:
If I'm super-pedantic about rules and processes - such as requiring both parties to confirm a trade, I piss off those who hate pedants and generally have a more relaxed nature regarding order.
If I'm super-relaxed about rules and processes, I piss off those who value order, certainty and rules and processes being followed.
I've tried to feel out a middle-ground in doing this in order to maximise people's enjoyment of the ORFFL; which is all I really care about.
Let me know what y'all want and I'll try to cater for it. Or if someone want to put their hand-up to do this, I will gladly high-five it and step down.

ORFFL R1 PREVIEWS
We've passed go and collected our $200 in draft picks and we're back at the start again. And what better way to start the year than the traditional Geopoliticoraphical Rivalry Round! It's Mayfair vs Park Lane, Fleet St vs The Strand, Whitechapel vs Old Karmichael Rd!Read on!!!!111!!111!!3!!!
SARAH ISLAND SAVAGES [span style='font-size: 10px;]622/6vs QUEENSTOWN QUOLLS [span style='line-height: 13px; font-size: 10px;]342/3
Ben HOWLETT. A name this coach will not soon forget, even though Friday night was the first I'd heard of him. Benji (164) and Jobe Watson (121) combined for a mammoth 285, leaving the defending champs reeling on 267/3, despite Heath Hocking (93) and his best effort to play into my starting line-up.
The following day the tables turned with Savages David Mundy (126), Chris Mayne (120) and Josh J. Kennedy (109) all gobbling on that pie with centuries, leaving just the scraps for Queenstown's Tendai MZUNGU(57). As with all the matches this week it's way too early to call anything, but it's been an absolute cracker thus far and if it continues on at this pace...
...Records.
Will.

WARBURTON WANDERERS [span style='font-size: 10px;]220/3vs[span style='font: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;]MOUNT BUGGERY DISAPPOINTMENTS [span style='line-height: 13px; font-size: 10px;]310/3
<p style='text-align: left;]Last year's runner-up Warburton faces off against uphill rival Mount Buggery, a club embroiled in a off-field fiasco just prior to the season's opening bounce. It's way too early to call a result, but the affectionately named 'Pointments from the outset look as though they have some kind of non-blunt thing to prove. Brent Stanton (117) was back to his early season best, Danyle Pearce (130) relishing his new role behind the ball at Mount Buggery.
<p style='text-align: left;]90 points behind at this stage, Warburton suffered from a very un-Michael Johnson like (49) performance, and a within the range of typical Bernie Vince (51) performance. Stephen Hill (120) came up trumps in one of those weird instances where a player from the opposition (See Pearce, Danyle) inadvertently helps their own scoring. Long Live Loose Match-ups!

HUMPTY DOO HAMMERHEADS [span style='font-size: 10px;]297/4vs MILIKAPATI SNAKES [span style='font-size: 10px;]207/4
There's plenty of water left to go under the bridge, but Humpty Doo step away from the first weekend's play with a healthy 90 point lead over Milikapati in the traditional Top-End Tourney. One could say that Sam Jacobs (102) has been their only shining light thus far, but that would be doing a disservice to how poorly they've made their opposition play thus far. which for me is brighter than a thousand suns.
Matthew Pavlich (60) looked well underdone in his first match for the Snakes this year, while Andrew GAFF (66), Michael Hurley (50) and Mark Baguley (31) simply didn't get enough of the ball. Luckily for Milikapati there's always next week, which is also still metaphorical this week - stupid split round.
Milikapati's coach would expect Brett Deledio, Kieren Jack, James Kelly and Grant Birchall to come out and put their team in the black on the weekend. For Humpty Doo Travis Varcoe returns from the wilderness (is this his debut for the 'Doo?), while Dylan Shiel has a great opportunity to show how he's progressed with another preseason under his belt. Will probably need Chris Judd to have a blinder in order to get up.

POOWONG POTOROOS [span style='font-size: 10px;]166/2vs TARWIN LOWER PIGS [span style='font-size: 10px;]97/2
Not much to report here at the West Gippy Rumble with just 4 players in total having entered the ring so far. That's just your average tag team action really. They're just warming up, the real stuff start this weekend.
Gary Ablett will lead the charge for the Poowong, with boom recruits Adam Cooney, Tory Dickson and Dennis Armfield all out to impress for the Red, White and Potoroos. I'm also tipping Tom Hawkins to do something that will make us all feel giddy (unless you're a Hawthorn supporter).
The TLP get to see Scott Pendlebury in real action again, and would be hoping Ryan O'Keefe starts 2013 the way he finished 2012. Not entirely sure they'll play him, but just quietly I think Beau Maister will score well and prove a useful acquisition, who along with Patrick KARNEZIS will form a pretty solid lower order FWD line pair.

JIMCUMBILLY JACKRABBITS [span style='line-height: 13px; font-size: 10px;]158/2vs MALLACOOTA MAGICIANS [span style='font-size: 10px;]498/5
Personally, I'm somewhat scared of both of these sides so in a way I hope they both lose. That seems mean however, so I hope instead they both win and share the points. As Ratten would say it's early doors, but Mallacoota would appeared to have opened them and put their best foot forward. While that can reputedly be an issue Nathan FYFE (96), it's apparently no longer a problem for Michael BARLOW (144), stepping out in magnificent style with nary a shin to be seen. Courtenay Dempsey (124) gathered and delivered the ball at will, I'm sure the coach's biggest smile would have been reserved for Michael Walters (90). Johnny likes vindication.
With news filtering through that new Jimcumbilly signing Matthew Boyd has been struck down with a '2-3 week calf injury' - otherwise known as oldmanatitis (See Waite, Jarrad), the Jackrabbits have their work cut out for them this Easter Weekend. Cometh the hour, cometh the fluffy white mythological creature. Dane Swan, Nick Dal Santo, Brock McLean, Lenny Hayes. That's a midfield without Boyd. Deep!

MERTON MEERKATS [span style='font-size: 10px;]164/2vs BONNIE DOON BANDITS [span style='font-size: 10px;]389/4
Bonnie Doon got off to a flyer this past weekend with Michael HIBBERD (90), Chris Masten (87), Dean Cox (96) and Jonathon Griffin (116) all finding their way to above average scores. The Bandits will need more of that from their understudies this future weekend; Josh CADDY is the man they've all been talking about preseason, but I think Stephen Coniglio will be the one they're talking about months from now. Look for Ryan Schoenmakers to provide a cool head down back in the lower temperatures of the regular season.
We'll obviously know much more about Merton's chances in this match after Thursday night. It kind of goes without saying, and yet I don't know what else to talk about. Their track record hasn't been good over the last few years, but they laughed when the Meerkats picked Lee Spurr (83) in the first round this year, and look at him answer. They laughed at Shane Tuck and Shaun Grigg and look how they answered. I'm half expecting the Merton TigerKats to answer on Thursday.

PURNULULU BUNGLE RANGERS [span style='line-height: 13px; font-size: 10px;]485/5vs COULTA COULDABEENS [span style='font-size: 10px;]288/4
Reminiscent of their opening match last year the PBR have flown out of the gates, their 5 players at the weekend averaging a mighty 97 points. Nick Suban (120) probably played the game of his life, Taylor Walker (91) cementing his premier FWD status in this commentator's mind by carving out a solid score while his AFL side got destroyed. Mark LeCras (91) made his long awaited debut for the Rangers, and would have broken the hundred mark if he hadn't broken his arm first. So sad.
Coulta sit nearly 200 points behind the PBR with one less player having played. That's a fair deficit though certainly not insurmountable. While Heath Scotland is off at a CFA Training Camp, Corey Enright, Brad Ebert and Shaun Burgoyne are all capable of mustering big scores, Justin Westhoff one of the most underrated players in the league. I may be biased though, I do like the ugly ducklings.

GLENROWAN GUNSLINGERS [span style='line-height: 13px; font-size: 10px;]99/1vs TORRUMBARRY THUNDA [span style='font-size: 10px;]588/7
A bit of a lobsided game at this stage with Torroumbarry having had 7 players, Glenrowan just Shannon Hurn (99). The Thunda had Beau Waters pour on the scoring, Graham Johncock (85) and Andy Otten (88) surprisingly acceptable. Richard Douglas (91) showed the standard he is capable of when he doesn't get knocked out in the first quarter, Patrick Dangerfield (63) displayed the other side of the health coin; ravaged by man-flu (and #Hocking|Heath|ESS).
With Sean Dempster apparently injured, it'll be up to Lance Franklin, Travis Cloke and Jack Newnes to carry Torrumbarry to victory.
For the Gunslingers it'll be principally Dayne Beams, Jimmy Bartel and Cyril Rioli standing in their way, which gives them a pretty good show. #Zeibell|Jack|KAN is dangerous when he's on the ground and Daniel Hannebery looks destined to break into another category of footballer this year. Which means it'll probably happen next year.

POPANYINNING PYRITE [span style='font-size: 10px;]345/5vs WOY WOY WIZARDS [span style='font-size: 10px;]154/2
A slow start in this East/West Derby, both sides yet to reach top gear. New defender for the Pyrite David Myers (91) was finally played in the middle and look what he did, Paul Duffield (80) the consummate general down back. With a host of names that include #Swallow|Andrew|NRF, Daniel Rich and Jack Riewoldt, I predict an improved showing from Popanyinning this week.
Woy Woy on paper look a good side. Trouble is at their advanced age they seem to be made of the thin material. Simon Black, Luke Hodge, Alan Didak, Chad Cornes and Aaron Sandilands all best 15 (ok, not Dids) and all missing with various ailment. Chris Dawes will need to kick 10 or Leigh Montagna play like it's 2010 again for Woy Woy to be winners.
Seems unlikely this week.
