What a week it's been in ORFFL! Not only did we see some of the closest matches in ORFFL history, we're showing signs that we will dominate' that other game'; currently the 8th best league in SC. So give yourselves a clap and a pat on the back! At the same time! I know you can do it!

A review of the weekend's matches and the first official ORFFL ladder over the break.

But before we get to that, allow me to put on my Commish's hat and my maid's apron for a moment.

    1) Changing the rules ish (as is my want as Commish). You now need to select your team EVERY WEEK.

The reason for this is two-fold. Firstly, it encourages people to be involved, and reminds them to think about who's been selected to play for the weekend.

Secondly, the ORFFL Team Selection page refreshes each week. So you sort of have to if you want to field a team ;)

    2) As this as round has a Thursday and Friday lockout, the same rules will apply as in R1. If you want to field a player from Brisbane or Carlton, you need to select them before Thursday nights lockout.

Everyone else, you need to finalise their selection before the commencement of the next game.

    3) It's a good idea to check that your team goes in as you wanted. You can do this by logging in a ORFFL_Admin and going to the ORFFL Team Selection page.

If for any reason it doesn't work as you'd like, feel free to send walesy or I your starting 15 and emergencies. Just do it before the lockouts.

    4) And this is the most important point. Heed my words, read my OP. The excuse 'I didn't know' will not be tolerated.

Additionally, if you ask a question that's been answered in the OP, I will probably reply to your query. But I will also probably treat you with the unreserved disdain I feel you deserve.

    Onward and upward!

    POOWONG POTOROOS1289 vsTARWIN LOWER PIGS1166

The West Gippy Rumble was an ORFFL classic. Well for a while anyway. The Pigs looked good going into saturday, particularly after Pendles smashed a 167. The Potoroos though, were always going to come back hard with The Little Master. Gazza gave up 28 points to the smoothest man in footy, when most others would give up 50+. By my reckoning, that made a huge difference, but ultimately it was the coloured vests that really cost Tarwin Lower a first up vicory; Embley with the green, Hocking with the Red.

    MERTON MEERKATS1075 vsBONNIE DOON BANDITS1132

Bonnie Doon wins on a count back. Sorry to get your hopes up Merton. Shamozzle all round to be fair.

PURNULULU BUNGLE RANGERS1450 vsWOY WOY WIZARDS1227

One out of the park for Tino and his Rangers. And somewhat scary given the collective reckoning that the PBR will peak in 4 years. That's one party I don't be at. I don't think Woy Woy should feel dismayed by their loss though, I thought they put up a good fight and ultimately, came up against a side that no other team in the ORFFL stood a chance of beating. Will be much better for the run.

    WARBURTON WANDERERS1282 vsMOUNT BUGGERY DISAPPOINTMENTS1013

Think Walesy said it best in his review (and I'm paraphrasing), 'sucks to draft a whole bunch of Melbourne players!'. Looking at the score sheet though, his Demons weren't actually his worst performed, not by a long shot. One down in defence with Butler/Sheppard not playing, Hardingham, and Pearce having stinkers, and Conca and Bate on green vest duties; that's where the game was lost. At least the chief's boy Stanton had the game of his life. Looking at the other half of the ledger, Warburton carried their preseason form into the regular, in what is becoming typical Wanderer style. Pretty even across the board; doing enough to win, but not to much as to bring unwanted attention to their cause.

    HUMPTY DOO HAMMERHEADS1200 vsMILIKAPATI SNAKES1272

Wasn't it great when Darth Vader turned on his Sith Lord master in Return of the Jedi. Not really, it was a pretty balls film I thought. This match on the other hand was a GENUINE cracker! Going into sunday with one player each to play, the Snakes with a 39 point lead, it looked as if it could go either way. But when Special K was given the red vest, it was goodnight Hammerheads. Unlucky in many ways was Humpty Doo, sadly it's only the scoreboard that counts. Congrats Milikapati! Look forward to smashing you next week.

    POPANYINNING PYRITE 1150 vsCOULTA COULDABEENS1205

Another ORFFL classic that went down to the last match of the round. Admittedly, that's largely due to the amount of Port Adelaide players in the Couldabeens, but it was still very much a close encounter. For the victors, Ebert, McCarthy, Priddis and a host of others lit up the scoreboard. The Pyrite were equally impressive, particularly in the FWD half with JRoo and Reid posting huge scores. A close game in the end, and an ORFFL rivalry born.

    JIMCUMBILLY JACKRABBITS1237 vsMALLACOOTA MAGICIANS1323

This match saw most coaches pre-preseason fancy, Jimcumbilly, go down to the Magicians of Mallacoota. Their nickname is quite apt I believe, as if you listen to The Kash Man speak on his players you'd be inclined to believe that he'd recruited a pack of duds and spuds. With the 3rd highest score of the round, that is some sleight of hand he's trying to pull. NDS was huge for the Jackrabbits with a 148, but the Magicians' evenness across the ground turned out to be more than a match. And he has Fyfe, who is the next James Hird, complete with long-flowing locks. Love him.

    TORRUMBARRY THUNDA1226 vsGLENROWAN GUNSLINGERS933

An absolute routing down at Glenrowan, and I suspect the coach of the Thunda would like it no other way. The Gunslingers paid the price for having 3 donuts and no playing emergencies to cover them. You don't want to do that up against Torrumbarry. For one, you'll most likely end up losing the match. And secondly, you'll have to listen to their coach go on about how great his team is. Which is disappointing for all concerned. Someone stop this man! Please.

    <img alt='' width='480px' src='http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/1040/sisvsqq.jpg[/img];

    SARAH ISLANDS SAVAGES1323 vsQUEENSTOWN QUOLLS1058

Wellity, wellity, well. For all the bluff and bluster pre-match and during, in the end this turned out to be a bit of a lob-sided contest. 374 points is a fair margin, but the main thing the Savages will take out of this match is that no one got injured playing at the Gravel Pit. I could speak more on this performance, but the last thing I want to do is come off as arrogant. Good solid win.

And now for the ORFFL Round 1 Ladder
