MERTON MEERKATS (5th, 1244) vs TARWIN LOWER PIGS (12th, 1206)

Merton INS: P. Stewart, MOHR, Milera, Edwards
Merton OUTS: Smedts, Golds, Staker, Kerridge

From what I hear, the metaphorical phones ran off the hook at Merton these past 3 weeks, and yet none of these ORFFL grifters were able to swindle anything out of coach SCSS. Instead of fielding any of these trade proposals the Meerkats went to the draft, replacing 4 "questionable" players with 4 slightly less "questionable". Meanwhile on the field, Ivan and Zorko are in career best form.

    TLP INS: S. Shaw
    TLP OUTS: M. Shaw

One Shaw closes and another Shaw opens. That being about the some of Tarwin Lowers midseason excursion. This week though sees Carrots return to the ORFFL, and Pendles missing along with Wallis. Not a good time to be playing Merton.

POOWONG POTOROOS (2nd, 1257) vs BONNIE DOON BANDITS (16th, 1142)

    Poowong INS: C. Smith, Jones
Poowong OUTS: T.T Lynch, M. Talia

Not a whole lot of action at Poowong over the midseason period. A couple of mids, one with consistency, one with potential for consistency and more. On a brighter note, Lower is in. At last. Hoorah! Sherminator too. Less Hoorah.

    BDB INS: Golby, Hargrave
    BDB OUTS: TUTT, B. Johnson

If Fez went into the draft looking  to stiffen up the Bandits backline, mission accomplished. Golby and Hargrave were great gets. No more donuts or OOPs. No more tears.

    QUEENSTOWN QUOLLS (10th, 1151) vs WARBURTON WANDERERS (3rd, 1251)

Queenstown INS: Pyke, Motlop, Davey, Saad, Cordy, Hall
Queenstown OOUTS: Polec, Petterd, Krakouer, Growden, Lisle, Walsh

Raft of changes, BB swinging the axe like a young Jack Nicholson. All about improving FWD depth now and in the future. And Mike Pyke.
Warburton INS: Sylvia, Petterd, Toovey, M. Thomas, Schofield
Warburton OUTS: T. Hunt, Fraser, OHailpin, Wright, Coad

Swinging the axe too, almost as vigourously. All for Sylvia? Big things expected. Schofield and Toovey handy defensive back-us.

PURNULULU BUNGLE RANGERS (14th, 1167) vs MILIKAPATI SNAKES (4th, 1260)

    PBR INS:
    PBR OUT:

Nothing happened. Hard to comment. Classic "nothing to see here, folks".

Milikapati INS: Hickey, Tyson, Butcher, Buckley, Toy
Milikapati OUTS: McKenzie, Parker, Smith, Vardy, Duffield

Host of changes. Essentially Tyson replaces Parker, promising Butcher comes into attack in exchange for the loss of DuffMan in DEF. Hickey an astute pick to provide back-up for ZSmith, Toy likewise if he moves back home at the end of the year.

GLENROWAN GUNSLINGERS (15th, 1140) vs SARAH ISLAND SAVAGES (1st, 1380)

Glenrowan INS: Bugg, Nicholson, L. Russell, Sinclair
Glenrowan OUTS: Bewick, OShea, Banner, ?

A lot of draft effort spent fixing a leaky defence was the story out of Glenrowan over the break. Not only did they do it pretty successfully, they did it all with youth too. Bugg we all know will be very good, and Sinclair was/is showing good signs this year. I personally dont rate Nicholsons kicking or JS, but D/M is a pretty handy MPP at any rate.

Sarah Island INS: Pittard, Johnston, Lucas
Sarah Island OUTS: J.J.Kennedy, Dickson, Patful.

Picked up some forwards, cut some youngsters. Business as usual.

    TORRUMBARRY THUNDA (8th, 1222) vs COULTA COULDABEENS (7th, 1242)

Torrumbary INS: Goodes, Kerr, Parker, Johncock, Otten
Torrumbarry OUTS: Butcher, Shiel, Gray, Salopek, Tambling

Traded for points now over points later, or never. So in that respect Torrumbarrys midseason period was a raging success. Goodes and Kerr (if the tag goes to Shuey) will probably improve the Thunda by 50 ppg. And Parker will be a star of the future. Otherwise it was good bye Tampling, hello, Rotten.

Coulta INS: Pittard, Petrenko, Ah Chee, A.Kennedy, Redden
Coulta OUTS: J.J.Kennedy, Shiels, Stiller, Rowe, J. Taylor

Picked up 3 PA players when I thought he would go 4, and lost a Kennedy, but gained a replacement. Coach of Coulta Bearfly seeming to favour the outside run-and-carry game, bringing in Pittard, Petrenko and AKennedy. Also took Redden to replace the retiring Brogan at the end of the season.

MOUNT BUGGERY DISAPPOINTMENTS (11th, 1215) vs WOY WOY WIZARDS (17th, 1205)

    MBD INS: Maguire, Elliott
    MBD OUTS: Martin, Post

Luck has not been kind to Mount Buggery. They delists Clarks backup Martin, and proceeds to watch Clark go out for the season with some kind of ripped ankle/foot, while new draftee Maguire injures his elbow. On the plus side though,Elliott will be a fine player and I hear reports that Gumby is in the best shape of his career so far.

Woy Woy INS: Pearce, Picken, T.McDonald, Callinan
Woy Woy OUTS: Hogan, Spangher, Dick, Macaffer

Delists 4 players who have barely played a game between them for 4 useful players who get on the park with some frequency. Which will give Gumby plenty of options on a replacement for the injured Chappy this week. GO CLANCEE, GO!

    MALLACOOTA MAGICIANS (6th, 1221) vs POPANYINNING PYRITE (9th, 1208)

Mallacoota INS: Shiels, Stanley, Tuohy, Polec,
Mallacoota OUTS: Petrenko, Strauss, Saad, Morton

Some solid planning from Mallacoota over the midseason; Stanley a handy backup for BigBoy, Shiels and Polec young midfielders with serious potential. The Kashman acting on his own doubts over the quality of his midfielders. Risky, if Johnny hasnt told you, I think youre being phased out, man.

Popanyinning INS: Duffield, T.Hunt, S.Wright, Jenkins, Magner, Blake, Betts
Popanyinning OUTS: Sylvia, Dickson, Greenwood, Wilkes, McPharlin, Tyson, ?

Picked up a swag of all sorts over the midseason, a player for every position. DuffMan a massive coup, Betts a necessary one for the FWD line, Blake and Magner draft steals. Sure they lost Colin. But for THunt and SWright, Id give him up every time.

Of course, I dont like Colin though.

HUMPTY DOO HAMMERHEADS (18th, 1104) vs JIMCUMBILLY JACKRABBITS (13th, 1191)

HDH INS: Shiel, Gray, Hooker, Goldsack, Hams, Neale, Smedts, Paine, Jetta
HDH OUTS: Goodes, Kerr, Toy, Reimers, Harwood, Weller, Henderson, Johncock, Otten

It would appear that Lucas, erstwhile coach of the Hammerheads, used the midseason break to rid his team of some old, and some useless, deadwood. In its place are a batch of youngsters who have yet to prove themselves useful, but at least haven proven themselves useless. So far.

    Jimcumbilly INS: McPharlin, McLean, Renouf
    Jimcumbilly OUTS: Betts, Pears, Graham

By the looks of things Jimcumbilly are in FLAG MODE, ladder position notwithstanding. McPharlin gives sorely need aid to an ailing DEF, costing the Jackrabbits only Betts from the FWD line, an area where Jimcumbilly have ample depth. Renouf gives solid, if unspectacular ruck support, and the addition of Brock means they dont have to play Moloney. Which makes me titter a little.
