What a round. Close matches, huge scores, some extremely low scores. Exciting debuts and devastating injuries. It was all happening in the ORFFL.
Review of the games below.
<strong style='font-weight: bold;]MOUNT BUGGERY DISAPPOINTMENTS [/b][span style='font-weight: bold;]1381 DEF<strong style='font-weight: bold;] SARAH ISLAND SAVAGES [/b]1360
Match of the round with both teams battling it out in a massive point-fest as Mount Buggery savagely defeated the disappointed Sarah Island to be the only team remaining undefeated in 2013. It certainly helps when nine of your players score above 90 and only two below 70. Aptly named Sidebottom top-scored with 136, Stanton 117 and Hooker getting in on it with 115. Stoic effort from the Savages despite suffering premiership hangover and Kepler-withdrawls. Sloane turned it on for the first time this year with a massive 146 and Harry Taylor proved he could play at both ends on his way to 125. The jar has been been broken but they are not out yet.
<strong style='font: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;]WARBURTON WANDERERS[/b] 1188 DEF TARWIN LOWER PIGS 1066
The Wanderers continue heading in the right direction, backing up their first win last week with a comfortable victory over the Pigs. Hartlett top scored for them with 144, revelling in his new D/M status (not to mention Port's 4-zip start). Bailey (113) too is enjoying his time in Warburton, grateful for being put back together again after being pushed off the wall. Scully turned it on for the first time this season against his old club, getting 109. So cocky was the Wanderers coach he didn't even bother to play GHS (105) this week. Few positives for Tarwin but they will be pleased with Giles (97) progression and Smith (101) having a good game in Tassie but they need Pendles to step up to his elite self, oh and for guys like Porps (8) and Stringer (19) to avoid vests.

<strong style='font: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;]MILIKAPATI SNAKES[/b] 1124 DEF BY WOY WOY WIZARDS 1150
Another close one sees Woy Woy finally off the mark getting their first win as the young Milikapati struggle to click. Both teams were handicapped with the Wizard's having most of the team half way in the retirement home and the Snakes literally making a few gaffs. Woy didn't mind the Kane Cornes still producing insane scores, getting 160. Should have brought a lotto ticket over the weekend with their luck but I think Fez will settle for Brynes doing something for once, getting 128 in his role for Melbourne. The comps best defender in Birchall is a shining light in the storm for the Snakes, running away to 152 and Jack - 130, Bruest - 155, Hurley -112 is promising but too many inconsistent scores from those lower hurt their push up the ladder. Oh and Hurley out next will may compound the headaches

GLENROWAN GUNSLINGERS 1240 DEF BY POOWONG POTOROOS 1456
Massive score from Poowong as they took the scalp of the previously unbeaten Glenrown to kick start their push to the finals after some bad luck at the start of the season. Who needs luck when you have Scott D. Thompson schooling Brown and getting 164 himself, 136 from the resurgent Cooney and Permacapt handing himself to 131. Even Majak Daw had a knockout debut. Glenrowan showed their consistency but need their sub-par players to start improving. Highlights include Rioli (115) still being the game winner he usually is and Jaeger Bomb's 100 is pleasing and shows hope towards the future. Mumford's 68, not so much.
<strong style='font: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;]<strong style='font: inherit;][/b]
MALLACOOTA MAGICIANS[/b] 1199 DEF BY TORRUMBARRY THUNDA 1515
A game that was billed as one of the matches of the round ended rather lopsided after the Thunda stormed to a crushing victory and dominating score, being the 2nd team this year to surpass 1500, after the Magicians did it last week. Cloke pulled his finger out and played like two men on his way to a season-high 195 which got the ball rolling. Adelaide trio were pivotal in downing the Doggies and the Magicians, with Douglas scoring 131, Otten's 124 and Dangerfield back to his best with 120. Goodes with 108 played like he was on the winning team...and like he's been in the league for years. No rabbits out of the hat for the Magicians this week with only a few players getting high scores. McEvoy (109), Fyfe (103), Harbrow (102) showed why their prems but they will hope to bounce from their first defeat whilst the Thunda look to rise just one more place.

MERTON MEERKATS 1145 DEF POPANYINNING PYRITE 1100
A low scoring affair which saw the Meerkats break the Pyrite's unbeaten run despite the Tigers recording a loss on the weekend. The Tiger stars did just enough with Cotchin getting 105 and Maric 101, but it was the 'foreigners' who turned it on to pull their team through with Scott Selwood recording 128 and Zorko finally having a good game with 105. For the Pyrite it was a massively below-average team in what looked like an easy win with several stars not firing. Shuey's 117 was a highlight and he may now be back to his best and Myers reached the ton in the D but the much vaunted midfield did not fire, Viney's 9 didn't help nor Lobbe's 45 in the ruck.

QUEENSTOWN QUOLLS 1328 DEF <strong style='font: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;]COULTA COULDABEENS [/b]0
Walkover for the Quolls but they'll be pleased with the score. Jobe went big with 138, Grime hit his straps with 120 and only J.Brown and Mzungu posted low scores (32 and 53 respectively). Coulta wouldalost anyway based on last weeks team, but they'll be buoyed by Westhoff's insane form, getting 149, Burgoyne in a big 153 and Cassisi returning with 103.
<strong style='font: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;]<strong style='font: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;]<strong style='font: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;][/b][/b][/b]
HUMPTY DOO HAMMERHEADS 1045 DEF BY JIMCUMBILLY JACKRABITS 1215
Jackrabbits easily accounted for the Hammerheads as they remember that winning feeling to break their duck. Dane Swan lead the way with 168 to put rumours to rest that he was unsettled at his new home. Brock McLean's 127 and Petrie's 120 certainly helped as Jimcumbilly look to take this momentum forward on their quest up the table. For Humpty Doo it was their third loss in a row as their coach looks to pick up the pieces. Excitement machine Garlett had a good day out with 125 and they'll hope he remains consistent, so too Wells (119) and Shiel (111) but more will be needed from starts like Jacobs (77) and Judd (60), not to mention Robbie Gray avoided vests (17).
<strong style='font: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;]<strong style='font: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;]<strong style='font: inherit; background-color: #ffffff;]<strong style='font: inherit;][/b][/b][/b][/b]
PURNULULU BUNGLE RANGERS 1391 DEF BONNIE DOON BANDITS 1048
The Rangers continue their great early season form with a big score and a big win over the Bandits. Everything is going right even despite having to play Atley OOP in the Ruck (38/76). Duckwood went elite with 163, Liberatore bounced backed with a convincing 134, Lecras scored 124 and even Adcock got in on the part with 135. Considering how young this team is, very scary signs for the future. Not a lot of positives for Bonnie Doon, though Hibberd's 109 will help and Cox n Masten were decent with 96 and 95 respectively but things were compounded with bad scores, vests to returning prems (Thomas) and key defender Schoenmakers out for the season after doing his knee. Will be another long season unless fortunes change.
