Wow-chika-bow-WOW! A corker of a round in the ORFFL with five matches being decided by less than 40 points. as well as the most DOMINANT performance in ORFFL history. More on that later. Ive got a severe case of man flu, so lets skip the foreplay and go straight to the scores.

TARWIN LOWER PIGS 1236 Def MILIKAPATI SNAKES 1175
Tarwin Lower needed a win this week, and a win they received, defeating Milikapati by 78 points. The Pigs were ravenous; Pendles and HMac both scoring 140, with Hocking (113) and Giles (114) also chipping in with fine hungies. This win takes Tarwin Lower to 2-3 and up into 9th spot with a healthy avg. of 1220.
On the other side, Milikapati dropped a match that they wouldve fancied winning going into the round. At 3-2 and in 6th spot, too much was left to too few, with only Lids (129), Gaff (103) and Duffman (95) posting scores worthy of being pinned up on the fridge. Their coach, Liam Johnson (?), must be sweating on the return of top-liners Kelly, Hurley and Birch; they need their quality players on the park to compete consistently.

POPANYINNING PYRITE 1088 Def by POOWONG POTOROOS 1220
Poowong proved that theyre not a one man team on the weekend, downing Popanyinning by 132 points. Scotty Thompson (the RADelaide one) and TommaHawkins led the way with 141 and 139 respectively, but a large supporting cast in Murphy (81), Jamar (95), Darling (106), Mzungu (97) and the Sherminator (112) all playing their respective parts in victory. Jones (39) on the other hand looks like hes had his card marked, and will be lucky to play another game for the Potoroos while JDog is coach. Disappointing.
Their opponents in Popanyinning showed great courage (pumps fist) and pluck, but ultimately werent good enough to jag a victory. Boyd (133), Swallow (112) , Hayes (130 and Cunnington (105) all had matches to remember, while TeddyBoy is in my mind a contender for the most underrated player in the ORFFL, having not scored below 81 or above 104. Two sub 30 scores in a row from Reid must be killing their coach in P_L, as is having to play Tomlinson (38), who doesnt look like hes cut out for the ORFFL just yet.

MOUNT BUGGERY DISAPPOINTMENTS 1048 Def by BONNIE DOON BANDITS 1061
13 points. Thats all that separated these two combatants, Bonnie Doon getting a leg up over Mount Buggery in a low scoring result up the mountain. Theres not a heluva lot to write home about here; 5th round pick Jonathan Giffin scored 107 in his first hit-out of the season, and Brennan continued his run of good form with a 108 (having not scored lower than 96 so far). Oh, and Izzy scored better than Coniglio OOP, but fair call Fez.
Disappointing result for Mount Buggery. The Rocklobster (140) has hit a sparkling run of form, as has Sidebum (104), but their was precious little else on offer on the weekend. Having to play Duigan (52/2) in the ruck is one thing, but its Mount Buggerys reliance on first year players in Wingard (44) and Ellis (42) that is putting their team to the sword.

SARAH ISLAND SAVAGES 1596 Def MERTON MEERKATS 1129
A 467 point belting was handed out by Sarah Island over the weekend, Merton unlucky in having to come up against this unstoppable force. Not only did the Savages take the oar to the ORFFL Dingy (highest round score), 10 players tonned up (NicNat, NoUndie, Robbo, JPK, Simmo, Jori, Chaplin, Bundy, HarryTheWizard, and Minno). Thats 2/3rds of the team. 67%. JUST GIVE US THE CUP ALREADY!
As mentioned above, the Meerkats were unlucky to come up against who they did, and put in a spirited performance regardless. Cotchin (123), Foley (125) and Scooter (111) continued to excel, while Dusty (112) had his first century of the year. Its up forward that Merton have some problems, Vickery (60) still yet to hit his straps, Nahas (45) good for about one game in five and BillyTheKid (3) perennial vest material.

TORRUMBARRY THUNDA 1328 Def HUMPTY DOO HAMMERHEADS 1201
This match saw the Thunda clock 1300 for the first time this year, downing the Hammerheads by 117 points. Sadly though, it failed to live up to the banterz I had predicted; HDH coach Lucas wallowing in the cave waiting for midseason respite, and Torrumbarry coach SKT spending much of the weekend in the corporate box having no idea how his team were going. Well heres what happened: Greggy (105), Heppell (116), Steven (111), Waters (111) all posted respectable low tons, with Danger (141) posting a moderate to large one. And they did it with Trav (68) and Buddy (72) not doing much up forward. If this team could put it all on the park at the same time they could be frightening. Im not sure if their coach is capable of getting that out of them though.
While at Humpty Doo, things go from bad to about the same. Let me state for the record that I do not believe this team to be tanking, rather it would appear they are just getting run over by those same mechanical beasts. SpecialK (131) continues to wind back the clock, while Sauce (122), Johncock (105) and Bolton (100) performed similar tricks (okay Sauce isnt old, but most ruckmen give the appearance of being aged). The poor scores of Henderson (30), Snowy (47) and MmmKay (50) hurt the footy team though. For shame.

JIMCUMBILLY JACKRABBITS 1189 Def WARBURTON WANDERERS 1155
Warburton taste their first defeat of the year, going down by 34 points to Jimcumbilly in a see-sawing affair. The Jackrabbits rode it out with two big game performances from Droopy (140) and ThePeoplesBeard (122), the latter handsomely filling in for the injured Leuenberger. NDS (110) and Grundy (105) also stumped up with centuries, but it was a bit of a mixed bag, and all things considered, I think Big Gary Turtleton would simply be relieved to bank the win and move on.
Over at Warburton, the Wanderers just didnt have the spread of scores theyve grown accustomed to. Murphy (118) stayed classy, and Griffen (155) put in a large one against GWS, yet mainstays in the blue and white in MJ (58) and Hale (51) put in uncharacteristic performances under coach EddieV. In all honesty, I think they missed their spiritual leader out there. The original and still the best; THECHAD. Come back soon, big head.

PURNULULU BUNGLE RANGERS 1069 Def by COULTA COULDABEENS 1170
Scratch that. Another failure at the ORFFL commission, and Coulta win on a count back. Questions being asked on why PBR dropped an uninjured David Swallow for the game, their 2nd best midfielder. More to come.

GLENROWAN GUNSLINGERS 1280 Def by QUEENSTOWN QUOLLS 1294
Another close one, with the travelling Queenstown jagging a win by 14 points over Glenrowan. Swans magnificent ANZAC performance has been spoken of before, the weekend proper saw Gibbs (109), Grimes (120), Jones (108) and TheHoff (113) join the hundred club. The win puts them just outside the 8 in 10th spot, yet from the devastation they started the season in, I think its a mighty effort. Not out of the flag race just yet methinks.
Glenrowan produced their best score of the year in 1280, yet it was not enough to walk away with the chocolates. Hanneberry (121), Savage (108), Armitage (115), and Firrito (103) all starring; the lost two proving to be astute selections at the draft table as late selections. Ultimately, I think the Gunslingers still miss Mummy, although Ive been watching Killing Time lately so I may be reading more into it than is actually there.

WOY WOY WIZARDS 1241 VS MALLACOOTA MAGICIANS 1246
Finally, my prediction of Match of the Round didnt disappoint, with the Magicians defeating the Wizards by the barest of margins, 5 points in a post-match scaling spectacularrrr. BigBoy (106), Barlow (105), Houli (101) and Petrenko (105) hit triple figures for Mallacoota in a show of grit and determination I did not think Magicians were capable of. Go Johnny Kash!
While at Woy Woy, I feel they were desperately unlucky, and thats probably not the first time Ive said that about them this season. Montagna (101), Cross (112), Black (111), Jolly (100), Power (120), Kornes (100) and Bird (114) all hit triple digits, and yet they lost the match. Just freakin weird. Malceski (38) being subbed off ultimately proved decisive, as did A. Selwood (38/2) being forced to play OOP.
