To start it off, 1/9th of the way through the round 1 game between the Prospectors and the Armadillos @insider and there's a clear leader. Weightman has been seriously outscored by Treloar, Gawn, and McDonald. Are there any surprises there??? (for those wanting to keep score, its 33 against 235)
Late in the 1st at the Sandpit, and it's the hometown Sandgropers (294/3/98) leading @Wolffy84 's Huskies (246/3/82) by 48 points. The Huskies are still favourite to take out the win against an undermanned opponent, however some big scores from Southern Cross' elite could at least make this interesting. Go Sandgropers!!!
Late in the third quarter at the Sandpit, and remarkably Southern Cross (769/8/96), lead @Wolffy84 's Horsham (729/11/66), by 40 points. The Huskies will need Jiath, Edwards, Fiorini and Witts to outscore Rotham, Mundy, Rioli and Lynch by 41 points to prevent what would be an embarrassing loss to a team missing three players. Chances are Horsham, win by 30+ points, but the home side will be trying their utmost to pull off the most unlikely of victories. Go Sandgropers!!!
The Barracuda's are on 1,111/13 85 to the Bar Crawlers @choppers on 766/10 76.6 For the home team Hall & McGov to come whilst the visitors have Dawson, Doedee, Collins, Greenwood & LDU.
Buffaloes are starting 2022 like they have a point to prove after last season’s grand final effort Serengeti 1345/14/96 v Pearcedale 427/6/71 @ron swanson
Update from the Dino Dome sees the visitors behind at 6/9ths of the way through but with Langford suffering a hamstring injury in the first couple of minutes it’s going to be tough for the home team to stay in front. HPD 694/11 CIS 643/9 @DamoH

Buffaloes have not finished as strongly as they started while the Panthers have shown some encouraging signs with a flying finish. Ultimately though the mature bodies at Serengeti have got them across the line Serengeti 1393 def Pearcedale 1182 @ron swanson Full match report to follow

Full time at the Eden Sporting Complex (E-Den isn't really catching on despite what Harold from marketing says) and Crocs have won 1252 to 912. As far as season openers go, this wasn't our best. In fact @fresh is this our worst R1 score? Didn't help that 2 of our midfielders slept in. Crocs on the other hand had a strong start with Taranto, Bolton and DeGoey all breaking the 100 while it was just Flynn for the Whalers who got an equal BOG 119. A solid ruck is a start. Next week it's off to Christmas Island where we play the Smugglers who won in the close one. Gotta pack an alarm clock. BAFFU: Taranto 3, Flynn 2, DeGoey 1 Giant Tap: Flynn 119 def Williams 41
Southern Cross Sandgropers 1083/13/83 defeated by Horsham Huskies 1127/15/75 Full time at the Sandpit and @Wolffy84 's visiting Huskies have eeked out a 44 point win in what was a war of attrition. Things started badly for the Sandgropers when word filtered through that there were only 12 fit players on their list. It was always going to be a challenge to get a win when so undermanned. Early injures to Prestia (42) and Lynch (11) compounded the issue, however Phillips (77) replaced Lynch on the ground and did well in 3/4's of game time. Centuries from Docherty (144), Neale (140), Grundy (124), Martin (108) and Mundy (101), kept things interesting until the last 20 minutes, then a herculean performance from Witts (131), coupled with big games from Jiath (118) and Gresham (109) saw the visitors get over the line; in spite of poor performances from Starcevich (17), Henry (19) and the injured Duursma (22). Next up, Southern Cross stay at home to welcome @wrightbrendan 's Buffalos to the goldfields. Things may not get much better for the Sandgropers, with two more injured players to replace. Hopefully Darling, Bergman and Dow can come in to play a role and be competitive. The Huskies head home to prepare for the visit of @Tylo 's Monarchs.
