The question of mandatory delisting has been a bit of a hot topic. We originally voted it down when we started the league, but its clearly gathering more steam as we go through the years. This poll is not asking for how to address the issue, its just a simple yes or no. I welcome all comments and discussion about how to address the issue, or conversely why we shouldn't change things, and please do so in this thread. Basically the votes are as follows: YES - We should force coaches to not hoard players, and have to give some up through trades, delisting and drafting, or natural attrition. NO - If a coach feels that their list of 26 is perfect, they shouldn't be forced to make any changes, and can hoard all their players if they want to.
I have cast my vote. I believe that we should have some for of list turnover. As I suggested earlier, I believe that this should be a minimum of 4 players throughout the year (any draft or trade period), however the coach sees fit (delist and draft, trade, or retirement). You're welcome to agree with me or disagree, right now I'm only looking for the yes / no answer, and suggestions.
I like the idea of adding 2 to our lists but having to delist 3. I think the mandatory delisting should take place prior to the PSD placing a higher value on the 3rd round picks for trading and increasing interest in the draft. The MSD should always be optional and therefore I would think delisting should occur preseason. Voted.
Has any coach not delisted or made any trades during the current periods? I think we've all had deadwood, lti's or retirements so i'm not sure why this is even a discussion. If your a coach who hasn't, how are you improving your team year on year? To make it mandatory just for the sake of coaches who are just holding players makes sense, but if your not actively trying to improve your team through trading, drafting or delisting i'd say are you serious about TOOSERIOUS ................
Voted. If we decide to increase the list size by 2 players then I agree with Eagle Eyed ' to delist 3 including retirments and mandatory delisting should take place prior to the PSD placing a higher value on the 3rd round picks for trading and increasing interest in the draft. The MSD should always be optional and therefore I would think delisting should occur preseason.'
We've had 15 of 18 votes, with a majority stating that some form of mandatory delisting / list turnover should be introduced. To me this is pretty clear (although I can't think of a single example where a whole year has gone without someone being active in list turnover). As per the other thread, this is closely tied to list size increases, with a few comments regarding mandatory list turnover / delistments accompanying an increase in list sizes, but being larger than the list size increase. The next question is, and I'm looking for suggestions here, how would people like to see the delisting / list turnover managed? PSD? (must draft X number of players in PSD) MSD? (currently optional, although as above as an option) PS Trades? (must trade X players in PS) MS Trades? (must trade X players in MSB) Combination of the above? (must turn over X players in calendar year) Other options? (can't think of an example)
my preferred option is ............... PSD (must delist X number of players in PSD). Please note this is different to the above to take into account lop sided trades (i.e. Player for pick).
I like must draft x number of players across the year with the option of doing it all in one draft or across both. I think, for me, this one also depends on squad size and I'd like to see lists brought back to, at most, 24 players pre draft.
