As always will need to see the preseason to get a good idea. With the backline looking to be the hardest area to pick this year I'm hoping that there will be some good cash cows putting their hand up there. Nathan Krakeour is a mature aged cheap pick this year if he can get games and is a fwd/mid but pretty sure he's on the rookie list at the moment. Hogan is cheap againsurely he play some games this year, and mitch clark will probably be in most teams if he can get out on the park.
Great thread idea dirty. Personally, I haven't done much rookie research yet. I'll be relying heavily on NAB form, but this year, I'm not going to make the mistake of thinking that just because a guy scores well in that he will score well in the real stuff. Got to think about team structure - who is missing and forcing a different positional play for that person. On the mature age front, Mitch Clark comes to mind as one at that price, but not much else
With Rookies still in the air until they trot out onto the big stage that we can concentrate on the comeback kings. re Rich, Van Berlo, Clarke , Waters ect. ... Does the community have any info on their fitness level ect ??. Being a Swans bloke with R. Shaw on probably his last year and Eski gone that Rohan is being groomed as one of the new running half backs . Word at this stage is that Heeney has been earmarked as being tried early as the other running half back . NAB will Hopefully confirm this ?. Swans ruck will be an interesting arm wrestle with 31yo Pyke v Derickx . Both very capable of #1 spot if the other is injured or drops form. Not going to talk him up but will just say keep an eye on Dean Towers. Not cheap at 210 odd K but keep an eye on his role in NAB .
Good luck to Sydney if they want to use Rohan as a playmaking half back. Personally I wont be going near him I think his disposal is terrible and he got found out big time on grand final day. But I agree the swans will need someone with Malceski gone and shaw very close to the end so will be something to keep an eye on preseason for sure. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl... here's an article above on some rookies to keep an eye on.
Lol apart from Eski and Buddy the WHOLE team was shown up in that GF !!! A bitter taste that ,even after more beer than I can take, is still present till this day !!!!! I agree Rohan was along way short and my thoughts were that Towers might be blooded (pun intended) into Eski s spot hence keeping an eye on him With Reg (Grundy) also probably finishing this year don't count spots in the Swans team as locked up. Goodes not a certain starter in any game and I guess Mitchell will be eyeing his spot heavily . Mitchell might even be making a point of running past Goodes as often as possible in training ? Lol

Of those only Clarke would appear likely to score enough points to justify being selected over a rookie. Waters is a maybe, but mostly because the rookie def options are so hard to identify at this stage, but he has only played 111 out of a possible 220 games since being drafted making him a very risky pick. The other two are just 'no' for me. Rich would have to average over 100 given his awkward starting price and the fact that he is unlikely to end up in the top 20 mids VB is a tagger and has never been fantasy relevant
Agree on Rich can see him being 2015's Daisy Thomas . Man in a shed (Saint's Saad ) in my eyes a starter in that team . Nathan Brown from Pies will play but being a new age Presti that scores kermit amounts makes him a rookie that WILL play . Kane Lucas talking the talk but not sure how he'll walk the walk. People talking Ben Newton up but he was at Port in their dark days, admittedly young, and struggled. I will admit I don't know if he suffered injury ?.

Newton's first couple of years at Port were pretty much ruined by injuries. Having overcome those injury issues, he managed to get himself in a position to press for selection, but by then Port's midfield were settled and working well, meaning he had to rely on injuries to other players to gain selection. When he did play, even those games he copped the green or red vests, he showed good ability to find the hard ball and tackle hard. As a Port supporter, I was disappointed to see him go, but I believe he will blossom as a player in the Dees midfield where he should get more opportunities!!!
Although already on most peoples radar, I for one now have Mitch Clark firmly in my sights after last night's performance. Hopefully he can get 6 or 7 games in like that before it goes pear shaped with injury, suspension etc.
