Weve officially hit the halfway mark and one this is for certain- Supercoach can be a cruel mistress. When she is good, the highs are magnificent, but boy- when she turns- and those bullets come flying, it can easily turn into a tragedy.
This week, the number of bullets were so high that surely you were hit with one- or two- or in some cases, five. So its with that idea that we dive into this weeks review.

St. Kilda vs Bulldogs
Result: St.Kilda by 24, 12.9.81 to 8.9.57
It looks like there are some dark days ahead for the Doggies as they fell in their "elimination" final. To be fair, they do have a fair number of stars out of form, or out injured- but dark the the less. The Saints on the other hand, are they back? I guess will see if they can continue this winning form next week. The top scorer for the game however, was the always previlent Matthew Boyd, who monstered out 39 touches with 20 of them contested for a mighty 164SC. Hot on his heels was Brendan Goddard, who collected 26 touches for a 143SC. Breakout ruckman, Ben McEvoy got the third highest score with a 121SC while Picken did quite nicely with a 117SC of his own. Rounding out the top5, with 23 touches was Dale Morris who scored a 109SC. As with all games, we see some who underperform, and the game was no exception with Gilbert putting in a woeful 30SC while Cross could only get 17 touches- 14 handballs, for a 54SC. Chris Howard broke his bubble with a fairly solid 67SC, while debutant Luke Dahlhaus did alright as a sub scoring a 33SC- looked pretty lively while doing it as well.
Heroes: Boyd, Goddard, McEvoy
Villians: Gilbert, Cross, Liberatore
Adelaide vs West Coast
Result: West Coast by 39, 15.16.106 10.7.67
The West Coast fans in the land have got to be getting thoughts of finals in their minds now- but remember, were still only halfway through the season! Plenty of time to go! That said, there was a strong wind blowing this game, with one end resulting in 21 goals to the other with 4. The top scorer for the game was Johncock with a fantastic SC|DT Ratio, scoring 131SC off 93DT. Embley was hot on his heels though, picking up 130SC off 29 touches. Matt Rosa collected 31 touches for a 124SC, while the Frenchman put in a fantastic performance, kicking 5.2 for a 119SC. His form has been phenominal of late, averaging 106 over the last 5 rounds. Rounding out the top5 was Richard Douglas, who made a solid 115SC. Representing for the rookies, Matthew Wright put in a solid 94SC while Andy Ottens return was fantastic, notching up a 104SC. Not too many villians in this game, though I reckon anyone caught fielding Darling would have been cursing his miserly 42SC off just 9 touches.
Heroes: Johncock, Embley, LeCras
Villians: Darling, Knights, Tippett
Gold Coast vs North Melbourne
Result: North by 59, 18.14.122 to 9.9.63
The game started as so many GC games have in the past- they got absolutely smashed out of the park early, before showing up to play some decent footy, only giving up only 2 more goals than they scored in the last 3 quarters. Now if only they can hold up on that first quarter capitulation and itll all be a lot better for them. Leading the count for the game was Daniel Wells, whos 33 disposals lead to a massive 180SC score. Brent Harvey was in vintage form, he put in a display of 29 touches and kicked 4 goals for a fantastic 155SC. 3rd place was shared by Aaron Edwards- who kicked 5 goals, and Big Gaz- Im gunna call it early(ish), but the Perma Captain is back! 38 touches on his way to a beautiful 139SC. Coming in 5th place was SDT, who picked up 15cp from 24 touches for a solid 132SC. Cam Pedersen was fantastic, collecting 18 touches for a very nice 89SC while Atley had one of his best games for the year, with 21 touches for 70SC. Over on the GC side of things, there was a fair poor crop- Harris (70), Swallow (55), Lynch (20) are all worrying sign if youre still holding them. Thank goodness Zac Smith is still going strong!
Heroes: Wells, Harvey, Ablett
Villians: Lynch, Swallow, Swallow
Geelong vs Hawthorn
Result: Geelong by 5, 13.10.88 to 13.5.83
The game of the round, saw the Cats scrape out a win after managing a 3.4 final term to nada. Sure, the Hawks werent helped with Roughead going down earlyish in the final term, but it was a fantastic effort for the Cats. Despite the result, the top two performers for the game were Hawks, with Sewell top scoring with 28 touches for a 136SC and Cyril Rioli whos 24 touches were enough to see him score a 113SC. The highest scorer for the Cats was Andrew Mackie whos 20 touches at a 90% DE were enough for a very tidy 109SC. Liam Shiels has a very good game, collecting a huge 35 touches and 144DT- but a DE of just 54% was enough to turn just a 104SC, while Podsiadly appears in another top5, this time kicking 6 goals for a 103SC. But thats the goodnews, there is a whole boat load of bad things which happened in this game, starting off with Roughead. The guy was in some great form, but an achillies late in the game will see him sit on the side lines for likely the rest of the season, meanwhile Hodge could only pick up a lowly 55SC. Speaking of lowly though, Selwood has been offered three weeks, four if he challenges for what appeared to be a pretty low hit on Guerra behind play. So far behind play that there was barely any footage of it- but the damage was damning enough for the MRP, and combined with his 77SC made for a pretty horrible night for the boy.
Heroes: Sewell, Rioli, Mackie
Villians: Selwood, Hodge, Ottens
Carlton vs Brisbane
Result: Carlton by 61, 19.10.124 to 9.9.63
It was always going to be a tough ask for Brisbane to perform down in Melbourne against the in-form Blues outfit, so it was unsurprising to see the Blues run out 10 goal winners. Leading the charge for the Blues was the "in-form" mid of the comp at the moment, Marc Murphy whos 28 touches and two late goals saw him score a solid 122SC. Eddie Betts kicked 3 goals on his way to a 120SC, while Jack Redden top scored for the Lions with a 115SC off 32 touches. Andrew walker added 5 goals to his yearly tally for a 113SC while Judd racked up 31 touches for a 111SC. Rookie, Zach Tuohy kicked his first goal for the year and approaches his bubble with a tidy 79 in his average while first gamer, Mitchell Golby scored a decent 52 off the bench. Adcock continues to disappoint, this time managing just a 68SC which has got to have a number of coaches questioning exactly what they are going to do with him?! On a happier note though, Matthew Kruezer got through his first game back for the year, and collected 13 touches and 12 hitouts for his efforts. I reckon hell be better for it and only improve from here, however- the futurist in me sees scores like this leaving him undervalued come the 2012 season.
Heroes: Murphy, Betts, Walker
Villians: Brown, Adcock, Hanley
Sydney v Richmond
Result: Sydney by 10, 9.21.75 to 9.11.65
Inaccurate kicking saw the Swans nearly give the 4 points to the Tigers, as a spirited Tigers outfit challenged for the entire game. Leading the way for the Swans though was the unlikely figure of Mark Seaby- his 21 touches and 36 hitouts were enough to see him score a very nice 152SC. Ryan Okeefe once again came out in front in the Okeefe/Goodes decision that many of us faced at the start of the season, this time 26 touches lead to a 130SC. Dustin Martin top scored for the Tigers, his 24 touches at a 54% efficiency being enough for a 117SC while right behind him, Trent Cotchin managed a 116 off 23 touches. Grundy rounded out the top5 with a 20 touch game at a solid 85% DE, scoring a very nice 115SC. Alex Johnson put in a pretty good game, scoring an 85SC, the same couldnt be said for the Richmond rookies with Batchelor coming in late for a 63 and Conca struggling with just a 31. The main villian for mine was Adam Goodes, who kicked 0.4 to score just a 53, but there were plenty of bullets to catch people out in this game.
Heroes: Seaby, OKeefe, Martin
Villians: Goodes, Riewoldt, Mattner
Essendon vs Fremantle
Result: Fremantle by 34 points, 15.8.98 to 9.10.64
So, who said no Sandi no Fremantle? Obviously they havent seen the currently Bombers outfit- who strung up their third loss in a row and are making a habit of playing teams into form- Richmond at Dreamtime- the bruise-free Melbourne, now ending the No-Sandi hoodoo. To be fair though, the Dockers were very good, smashing the Dons in the midfield early, which was an even bigger triumph as David Mundy went down early in what looks to be a 6-8 week injury. Matthew Pavlich lead the charge, getting the pill 22 times and kicking 3 goals for a 133SC, while Ballantynes 21 touches and 2 early goals were enough to see him score a 129SC. Garrick Ibbotson managed 28 touches for a 126SC while David Hille top scored for the Bombers with a massive 39 hitouts and 113SC. Rounding out the top5 was Jonathon Griffin- who if it werent for Smith would have come into my team this week, did very nicely to secure a 108SC. Watsons first game back was definitely less than the coaches who held him were hoping for, just 22 touches and a 67SC while Dyson Heppell will have a few questioning his D7 status returning a 49SC. That said though, plenty of premiums have had shockers this year- so dont go jumping off a good thing too early, but unless the Bombers can turn things around soon, it might be better to get off him while the price is still high.
Heroes: Pavlich, Ballantyne, Ibbotson
Villians: Heppell, Hurley, Watson
Melbourne vs Collingwood
Result: Collingwood by 88, 19.15.129 to 6.5.41
So, the last game for the round, and even without Swan or Thomas, the Pies were able to dominate to the tune of 13 goal 10 behinds. It was also the great unveiling of the new Live SuperCoach predictor- we saw a few teething issues- the first of which was the in-quarter scores deciding that they wanted to scale to a score of 4125- which saw for some greatly inflated possessions in the first quarter. But I got home during the second, and got a number of fixes pushed up- and if I do say so myself, I reckon it looked pretty decent after that. It should be interesting to see how we go with it- with a little more refining, I reckon we could be onto a bit of a winner here. But Im neglecting the game- Travis Cloke top scored with a 6 goal performance, knocking up a 138SC. Pendles got the job done, picking up some good possessions in the 1st and 4th quarters, at an elite 96% DE for a 129SC meanwhile Ball scored himself a 119SC off 21 touches. Moloney top scored for the Demons with 25 touches for a 114SC while Wellingham racked up a huge number of touches, his 37 disposals getting him a 111SC. Heath Shaw copped himself a tight tag, which saw him struck down to just 15 touches and 60SC- ouch! On the rookie front however, Martin continued his great form with a 100SC, Strauss approaches his bubble with a very nice 87SC while Howe could only manage a 50SC against the best in the business (Though his 75DT is promising for his prospects). On the Pies side, Alex Fasolo looked pretty good in his first hit out with a 69SC, but I have the feeling that he wont be able to hold his spot for too long with Swan back in in round 14.
Heroes: Cloke, Pendlebury, Ball
Villians: Shaw, Green, Evans
So, thats the review- lots of pain and a number of difficult decisions with Mundy and Selwood looking to be a trade-out. On the plus side though, we now have 3 leagues in the top 10 with the TooSerious Donors making a charge into the 10, while there are 6 TS leagues in total sitting in the top20, with the TS NBA CREW making there way in for the first time this season. Way to go boys- great scores this week!
So- let us have hit- how many of the many bullets this round did you get hit by?
