Hey guys, Can you tell I have some spare time this morning The caffeine induced brain of mine starting thinking about the NSW vs QLD state of origin on tomorrow night, and I thought that maybe we could do the same in the ORFFA. Here is the state by state breakdown Vic : Far Kew, Nunna, Daraweit Guim, Gariwerd, Mt. Beauty, Powlett Plains, Namatjira and Venus Bay SA : Foul Bay and Iron Knob WA : Marble Bar Qld : Whitsundays and Birdsville NSW : Gundagai Tas: Cradle Mountain, Charlie's Opening International : Waikikamoocow and Mawson Given there are 8 teams from Vic, was thinking we could do a Vic + 1 International vs the Rest style state of origin. Full supercoach team rules, so a named 22 with Captains and Vice with 3 position specific emergencies Teams to be decided by a vote of the 9 coaches in each team... just on a seperate thread for each team in this forum, similar to the donor thread. Given it is a one off, points tally can be manual. Teams could be: Vics : Far Kew, Nunna, Daraweit Guim, Gariwerd, Mt. Beauty, Powlett Plains, Namatjira, Venus Bay and Mawson Allies : Foul Bay, Iron Knob, Marble Bar, Whitsundays, Birdsville, Gundagai, Cradle Mountain, Charlie's Opening and Waikikamoocow Bit of fun combined with the mid season draft. Thoughts?
Hmmm, given that we are playing through Round 13, this may not be possible... I'm happy to organise it if people want to do it... I guess we could always just have our players playing two games that weekend!!!
I'm not sure if I want my players playing two games that weekend, but I love the idea, and would support it Thanks for organising it Bandit - Mawson Base is apparently on an Australian owned part of the Antarctic, so Waikickamoocow should prob be the 1 to join forces with the Vics. Vics and international Vs the rest We could either have it as players playing twice in same weekend, or just use all players on squads that aren't playing for their ORFFA team. That could be fun And, can I suggest we do it on a weekend that doesn't have any AFL byes, as the player pool is greatly reduced during those 3 rounds. DINSDALE!!!
OK, let's see if we can get the numbers together. I propose we run the state of Origin game in conjunction with Round 8 of the ORFFA, right between the Winter Solstice and the NAIDOC celebrations to make it a 3 week carnival showcase of the ORFFA and it's deep pool of talent. Teams of 22 players, with 3 position specific emergencies, from each of the participating clubs in that 'conference' Conference Members Victoria & New Zealand Waikikamoocow Incorrigibles Far Kew Frogs Nunawading Nuffers Daraweit Guim Dirigibles Gariwerd Cockatoos Mt. Beauty Uglies Powlett Plains Packers Namatjira Nuffers Venus Bay Vultures The Anzacs Mawson Base Penguins Foul Bay Chickens Iron Knob Codpieces Marble Bar Misfits Whitsunday Warriors Birdsville Battlers Gundagai Grasshoppers Cradle Mountain Devils Charlie's Opening Spelunkers Teams to be selected in a forum thread created, selection panel comprises the 9 coaches from each conference, with a voting system for disputed player selections. Each conference to nominate a coach to coordinate the selection process and represent the other 8 coaches in press conferences and other marketing related activities. ORFFA coaches are discouraged from withdrawing players from selection due to 'General soreness' or like related injures. This is a show piece event for the ORFFA and as such the best available talent should be placed on the field. Scoring to be based on supercoach rules, no out of position players permitted, captain scores double, vice captain scores double if captain does not play. Teams to comprise of 7 defenders, 6 midfielders, 2 rucks and 7 forwards, 3 emergency players permitted in nominated positions. Can we please have a response from each of the coaches to determine if they are a) interested and b) happy with the approach. I am happy to coordinate if needed.

You are a mischievous soul Bandit. Setting up this wonderful idea while X. continues to hide under his rock. I very much enjoy the concept that the world does not stop for a fossil. I'm off to the hills for two days but will try and get a team up here for the ANZACS to fight over and we can settle it all on Friday. Shall we all meet in the Tiki Bar at say 11 am? Anthak would be a good coordinator for that other mob. Has all that UCantBeTooSerious experience.

It's the last week of semester Tibby and students need many extra hugs (metaphorically speaking of course) at this time. I'm happy both for this to happen and to participate as long as I don't have to organise it. Anthak and Tibby are hereby delegated for this task. Bandit my man, I think you need a history lesson on what the initials ANZAC stand for. Vic and NZ v. the Anzacs? Shame.
Just following on from other suggestions Chels, please don't take any offence that the rest of Australia is not included in that.
