And so ends another round, only 10 more to go before we see who reigns supreme!
The biggest, or at least tallest news of the round is Sandi, rushed back a little early, early reports have him out anywhere from a month, to the rest of the season- gotta feel for the guy! (And his coaches).
As for the full review, sadly, due to a computer who constantly decides to randomly power down the display for hours at a time, we wont be having one this week as I have no idea when its going to shut itself down again- anyone got any suggestions?
I have a new pc arriving next week though, which means the future is all good though! Just need the laptop to play ball with me tonight so I can get the stats up!
Anyways, let us know how youve gone, it looks like a pretty high scoring week!
EDIT: yep, thats what I would have said if we didnt have a review! However, BlueBeliever has been an absolute trooper and stood up to the plate! Check out his review over the break.

Hawthorn vs Essendon
Result: Hawthron by 65, 23.8.146 to 12.9.81
On Friday night the Hawks took on an Essendon side boasting what many said to be the best line-up of the year for them (and a few tipped the Bombers), only for the Hawks to run out a very comfortable 65 point victors. After a decent start the Bombers suffered an injury to the recently-returned Jobe Watson, seriously hurting his SuperCoaches in the process, and a seven goal blitz in the second quarter to take it out of reach early. For Bombers fans the news only get worse with other injuries to David Myers (3 weeks) and Sam Lonergan (season). Unfortunately for the Hawks it didn’t all go their way either, with injuries to both Cyril Rioli and Brad Sewell set to further test their depth. Rioli didn’t look in too much trouble post-game, but will still be one to keep an eye on this week. Highlight of this one for me was Isaac Smith’s continuation of form, and boy does this kid look like a jet! 112 and 3 goals a very solid return for those that had him on field.
Heroes: Birchall, Lewis, Shiels, Savage, Suckling, Hodge, I Smith, Stanton, Hocking
Villains: Rioli, Guerra, Heppell, Hille, Watson, Ryder
Gold Coast vs Western Bulldogs
Result: Bulldogs by 22, 17.8.110 to 13.10.88
The Western Bulldogs faced what is fast becoming the Gary Ablett Experience at Metricon on a beautiful Queensland day, and after some help from Michael Rischitelli soon were comfortably in front. Captain Gazza was held quiet by Liam Picken for most of the first half before getting off the leash a bit more in the second. In a messy affair Tom Lynch stood out for the Suns with 3 goals and some good marking, while for the Dogs Cooney, Giansiracusa and Griffen all slotted 3 of their own.
Heroes: Bock, Ablett, Lynch, Griffen, Giansiracusa, Cooney, Barlow, Cross, Boyd, Dalhaus
Villains: Weller, Dixon,
Richmond vs Melbourne
Result: Melbourne by 27, 17.16.118 to 13.13.91
Saturday saw a massive crowd turn out at the ‘G’ to see Melbourne battle it out with Richmond for a crack at the 8, the only question being which Melbourne team would show up? Both, as it turned out, with Richmond dominating the start of the first quarter before kicking Melbourne into gear until some shocking kicking from the Dee’s gave the Tigers a sniff again in the third. Some stand out play from Jack Watts, the returning Mark Jamar and Brent Moloney all helped Melbourne to a 27 point win.
Heroes: Foley, Jones, Moloney, Watts, Jamar
Villains: D Martin, Howe
Fremantle vs Brisbane
Result: Fremantle by 23, 12.16.88 to 10.5.65
Fremantle faced an interesting test on Saturday as they hosted Brisbane at Subiaco with a depleted squad that seems to shrink after every game. David Mundy out is really hurting the Dockers and it was never more evident than here, with Simon Black dominating the clearances. Big Jonothan Brown showed some positive signs kicking the first 2 goals of the game, but the star of the show was by far Matthew Pavlich. After injury doubts the Pav turned it on to show even with a dodgy knee, the Fremantle captain cannot be taken lightly, gathering 28 possessions on his way to 5 goals. Unfortunately the main thing most people will take out of this one was the injury, or re-injury, to Sandi who seems to have aggravated his “turf toeâ€. Signs not looking good for Sandi making an impact again this year I must say. Luke McPharlin also appeared to injure his groin and was subbed off at half-time.
Heroes: Pavlich, Broughton, Fyfe, Black, Rockliff
Villains: Sandilands, Rich
Sydney vs Collingwood
Result: Collingwood by 6, 13.21.99 to 14.9.93
Saturday night in Sydney saw a massive contest between Sydney and Collingwood, with the final result only a kick between them. Jude Bolton set the tone for the game when he cleaned up Kieran Jack (by mistake) off the opening bounce, it may have knocked Jack loopy for a bit but it certainly showed the reigning premiers that they were in for a tough one. 30 points down in the third term Sydney looked in trouble, but Collingwood had some almost un-Collingwood like errors and poor kicking at stages, and in typical Sydney fashion they gutted it out and drew it back to just 9 at the final break. Collingwood ended up running out 6 point victors with 6 goals to one Travis Cloke, who’s looking more dangerous every week. The one everyone cared about, Dane Swan, pumped out a lazy 133 while putting to rest all those nasty EPO rumours.
Heroes: Kennedy, Goodes, ROK, Cloke, Swan, Ball, Pendlebury
Villains: Jack, Shaw, Krakouer, Didak
Geelong vs Adelaide
Result: Geelong by 52, 19.11.125 to 10.13.73
Sunday saw Adelaide travel to the Cattery, and proceed to get belted by 52 points. It is always a tough ask for any teams taking on Geelong at Skilled, with the Cats almost guaranteed to pump out a 125. With only 12 premiership players in the team it was a young Geelong team that took to the field but instead of giving the Crows a chance, it only seemed to further highlight the depth at Geelong. Not a great deal to talk about from this one apart from Corey Enright putting up a huge 153 DreamTeam return for 122 SC.
Heroes: Enright, Christensen, Varcoe, Chapman, Vince
Villains: Podsiadly, Dangerfield, McKernan
Carlton vs West Coast
Result: West Coast by 26, 15.13.103 to 10.7.67
There was a big game at Etihad Sunday afternoon when the visiting Eagles came to play the Blues, and come to play they did! In what has to be considered a big upset the Eagles ran the game out 36 point winners, after controlling the majority of the game. An injury to key defender Michael Jamison early in the game gave the Eagles big men room to fly, and we may just have seen the mark of the year from Nic Natanui. West Coast started the game strongly and while Carlton looked good in points, never seemed to take their foot off the gas. West Coast are now knocking on the door of the top 4, and maybe looking like they could be finals chance after all. Spoon to Flag anyone? They need a lot to go right for them but footy’s a funny old game.
Heroes: Scotland, Yarran, Thornton, Priddis, Shuey, Cox
Villains: Kruezer, Jamison, Hurn
Port Adelaide vs North Melbourne
Result: North by 45, 21.10.136 to 14.7.91
The final game of the round saw North Melbourne down Port Adelaide to the tune of 45 points at AAMI, further darkening what seems to be a bleak time in the clubs history. A tight start to the game was eventually blown out in the third quarter as Drew Petrie and Boomer both fired, receiving off an unstoppable Goldstein on his way to 54 hit outs! Looking like there may be a few Sandilands – Goldstein trades going around this week.
Heroes: Chaplin, Goldstein, Petrie, Ziebell
Villains: Pittard, O’Shea
