AFL Round 2 – Thursday 20th March ORFFA Round 2 - Muso Round An early appearance for our regularly scheduled Muso Round for season 2025. This year we are asking both home and away teams to nominate an Australian or NZ act to provide pre-game and then half-time entertainment. Of course, the stipulation for local(ish) acts and the fact that the ORFFA half-time entertainment budget doesn't quite stretch as far as, say, the NFL, mean that Kendrick Lamar sends his apologies and is unable to attend this time around. GWS and GC players having the week off this week. Let's see how many holes in our squads we need to patch over.
The Gov will act as chaperone for our team of youngsters as we head to the Lagoon undaunted by our first round defeat. Joining us for the trip is Don McGlashan a much loved local muso. Started out as a punk with Blam Blam Blam ("Don't Fight It Marsha, It's Bigger Than Both of Us", and "There is no Depression in New Zealand") moved onto The Front Lawn before forming The Mutton Birds ("Dominion Road", "Nature" and "Anchor Me") and finally a solo career while composing soundtracks for movies and TV. He will be bringing his trademark euphonium with him. He is looking forward to finally seeing the cows play - especially Bruce.
Provisional team to travel around the corner to the beautiful Freycinet Peninsula and @Tracey 's team of upstarts Happy to nick a win last week, and will be just as happy to nick another this week. I have had a chat to Tracey, and whilst she might do pre-game... post game will feature Empire Of The Sun doing a 120 minute super set
This week the Lilacs are headed down to Cradle Mountain, while the Devils will put on the main show, since it is their home game, a set from Flume will bring it home. We only have one in tonight's game DEF - Karl Amon
M Josh Ward Just cruising listening to Don live and wondering if ThatKIGuy and his posse will appear. If not - more Pinot for me.
Remnants of the Nuffers team to face the newly christened Jaguars of Junee DEF: Redman, Dale, Clark, Keane MID: Richards, Warner, Serong, Ross RUCK: No-one - probably either Caddy or Quaynor OOP but the teams are locked at the moment so I can't make the change FWD: JHF, Higgins, West, Jones (or anyone that wishes to front up, to be honest) I/C: Knevitt, Brown The absence of GWS players will results in some absences in both teams in this matchup. As for the music - a bit of Amyl and the Sniffers should wake the crowd up if there are any lulls in play.
I don't know how to do this so hopefully it works. My fave band of the last 2-3 years is Sons of the East, a Northern Sydney Band. Got to see them at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park last Summer. Not sure if I'm away or home this round (could be a problem) but @anthak hope you like the Halftime show.....
Late to the party with our announcement. Welcome to the Goon ye seafaring Cows. No doubt our mob will need a half time rev up so we have seconded the supreme talents of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Expect some motivation numbers for the PetroDragonic era to excite the crowd and our boys.
League admins should be setting the Round 2 lockout match each week as soon as possible after rollover, so make sure any team submission issues are advised as early as possible in the week so that this does not end up being a widespread issue.
This sounds great. We've been partying all week in Halls Gap after our round-1 win! We've since arrived in Gundagai and look forward to the half time entertainment on offer!
Cradle Mountain Devils Round 2, 2025 team Out: Toby Greene (managed) In: James Jordon (club debut – recruited from the Cows) Def: D Zorko, N Vlastuin, J Battle, J Lever (T McDonald) Mid: J Steele, R Laird, S Pendlebury, J Hopper (E Langdon) Ruc: T Nankervis Fwd: A Naughton, D Wilson, J Cripps, J Jordon (J Gresham) Int: R Marshall, T English (R Ginbey) For their first home game of the 2025 ORFFA season Cradle Mountain host @Jen’s Lovely Banks Lilacs in Round 2. In 2024 both teams made the finals with Devils finishing in seventh place, one spot ahead of the Lilacs in eighth place. It was the second time in three seasons that the Devils finished one place ahead of the Lilacs as in 2022 CMD were sixth and the LBL were seventh. Cradle Mountain and Lovely Bank both recorded victories last weekend to be on the winners list at the earliest opportunity in 2025. Cradle Mountain recorded a 307 point road victory against Iron Knob 1,343 to 1,036 and were on top of the ladder at the end of Round 1. In a defensive arm wrestle the Lilacs at home prevailed in a thriller by 13 points, 1,110 to 1,097 against the Wineglass Bay Packers. One change in the Devils forward line for Round 2 with pre-season recruit Toby Greene managed and replaced by fellow mid-season recruit James Jordan. Having joined the Devils by trade during the 2025 ORFFA pre-season Greene is on a modified program early in the season. Greene spent most of the first 3 quarters of Round 1 in the forward line but in the last quarter CMD unleashed Toby squared in the centre bounce with Tasmanian Nankervis in the ruck and Greene playing as a midfielder. Greene was exceptional in the last quarter to have 11 disposals, four clearances and kicked a goal to finish the game as CMD’s second ranked player with 124 SuperCoach points, 23 disposals and three goals playing 98% game-time. Nankervis ranked second at CMD with 114 points and Dayne Zorko in his new position of pure defender led the club with 139 points. Cradle Mountain have two of the five Toby’s on an ORFFA list, representing 40%. Other Toby’s on a list are Bedford at the Nuffers, McMullin at the Cows and Conway with the Battlers. In terms of the musical entertainment the Devils are going to build off the Lilacs selection of Flume and have Vera Blue perform the pre-game set. During Flume’s set Vera Blue will return to the stage to perform their 2019 collaboration Rushing Back which reached the top 10 on the ARIA singles chart.
Looks like a low scoring Muso round score for both of us @That KI Guy . I guess that is what playing the kids at the start of a re-build is like?
A bit of nostalgia for both of us @That KI Guy , top scorer in the vfl game today between Casey Demons and North Melbourne was none other than our old mate Riley Bonner with 126 (AF) - memory lane huh.
I appreciate there are a lot of balls to keep up in the air. No fixtures loaded for this week - is that a hangover from when there two byes (i.e., four teams not playing)? Geez, the afl made a balls up of this. Please pardon the mixed metaphors.
There was a fair bit of debate about it... so Jen ran with the above. We could scramble the jets and move everything a week forward, and have a four round finals series, but I'm inclined to leave it as is, as some people may not get a team in on time What say the masses?
