With the conclusion of round 23 fast approaching, and Essendon once again following the tried and true formula of winning the ones they shouldnt and losing the ones they should [edit: Ha! They won! Whoda thunk! :D] - I reckon its time to ask that all important question-

Reckon youre in the Grand final?

I know that personally, unless Heppell can knock out a 180, then Ive been bundled out by Rommels Legion- give em cotton Lucas!

On the plus side though, I did knock out the Green Jellybeans- so I do have one chance of premiership glory (after being smashed in my third by the cattery).

Check out the full review over the break!

    Fremantle vs Collingwood
    Results: Collingwood by 80, 20.12.132 to 8.4.52

So, it was expected- Collingwood would go west and conquer and well thats exactly how it went down.

Pendlebury smashed it, collecting 36 possessions and top scoring with a 154SC. Dane Swan was just behind him on 35 possessions but only managed a 124SC. Big 211 top scored for the Dockers with a 37 hitout, 124SC. Not a bad guy to have if you held him this long!. Lower and Beams both rounded out the top5 on 121. Heres hoping you didnt have him sitting on your bench, particularly if you copped his 10 the other week! On the villians front, Mzungu let us down when we needed him, while Broughton once again underperformed.

One thing I think is crazy about this game is that only 6 Collingwood players scored under the "average" 75, while only 6 Freo pla]yers scored above!

    Heroes: Pendlebury, Swan, Sandilands
    Villians: Mzungu, Broughton, Sinclair

    Hawthorn vs Western Bulldogs
    Results: Hawthorn by 46, 16.17.113 to 10.7.67

It was a good effort by the Doggies for the first half, but with the season essentially over, its not suprising that they were going through the motions after half time and were really smashed.

Puopolo put in a season best effort, scoring a massive 151SC off 27 touches (from my BENCH!), Hodge scored a 119SC off 30 touches while Franklin made a nice 118SC from 20 touches and 5 goals. Guerra and Birchall rounded out the top5 with a score of 115SC. Ryan Griffen top scored for the Doggies with with a 26 touch 111SC. Plenty of villians to choose from though! Suckling (72), Rioli (58), Smith (54), Giansiracusa (56), Ward (65) and Higgins (68), however, considering I picked up Rioli this week in DreamTeam and had Mitchell uncovered in the midfield, Im gunna give the prize to those two for singlehandedly killing my top50 DreamTeam effort this year!

    Heroes: Puopolo, Hodge, Franklin
    Villians: Mitchell, Rioli, Smith

    Geelong vs Sydney
    Results: Sydney by 13, 15.9.99 to 12.14.86

Wowsers, who saw this result coming? Essendon topping the Cats was a big upset, but this one is just huge! Coming interstate AND heading down to the cattery?! What a huge effort! Mumford was simply huge, a 170SC off 22 touches and 39 hitouts will have his coaches smiling. Ling top scored for the cats with 26 touches and 121SC. Jude kicked 2 goals for a 119SC, Shaw a 117SC off a 26 touches and the RoK scored 114SC to round out the top5. Not too many players played their villian card, but Grundy was definitely on the list! Just 39SC for the boy, 50 below his average!

    Heroes: Mumford, Ling, Bolton
    Villians: Grundy, Taylor, Mattner

    St Kilda vs North Melbourne
Results: St. Kilda by 65, 19.21.135 to 10.10.70

This was a really good game for the first half, but as a neutral, it certainly got less and less interesting as the 2nd half went on. What was really sad was the final quarter, you could just see it on the Norths boys faces that their season was over- heart on the sleeve stuff. The Saints on the other hand were awesome, really hitting form at the right time of the season.

Saint Nick was great, 20 disposals and 5 goals for a 163SC while Goddard got his hands on the pill 31 times for a 135SC. Swallow top scored for the Roos with 34 disposals and a 134SC while Montagna touched it 27 times for a 133SC. All the usual suspects in the top5 til #5 where Ziebell racked up 28 touches for a 124SC. On the villians front, Pedersen let his coaches down a little with a 62SC, while the Rawlings owners are probably used to his 53s by now!. Taking the cake however was Gram and Harvey scoring 39 and 40 retrospectively! Their coaches would be ropeable!!

    Heroes: Riewoldt, Goddard, Swallow
    Villians: Harvey, Gram, Rawlings

    Brisbane vs West Coast
Results: West Coast by 8, 13.11.89 to 11.15.81

Well, the result was expected, but not the margin- boy the Lions had some roar in them! Leading at both the 2nd and 3rd break, it was inaccurate kicking that really saw them missing out on pulling off a major upset!

Masten pulled off the game of his career, seriously, if he can do that more often hell have a swag of people apologizing for things said in the past- his 182SC were from 31 disposals and3 goals. Right on his tail however was the Rock Lobster, a 179SC off 30 disposals and 2 goals was a huge effort! Leuenberger kept up his good form, 36 hitouts and 15 disposals for a 126SC while Priddis picked up 25 disposals for a 119SC. Rounding out the top5 was Daniel Rich, his 118SC was scored off 27 disposals and a goal. A couple of Villians in this game, LeCras disappointed with his 69SC, but it was Dean Cox and his 49SC that will have well- every single SuperCoach still in the finals upset this weekend!

    Heroes: Masten, Rockliff, Leuenberger
    Villians: Cox, LeCras, Hurn

    Adelaide vs Richmond
    Results: Richmond by 22, 17.19.121 to 15.9.99

It was a good win to the Tigers I reckon, and I reckon a good long-term result for the Crows. I hope that the loss ensures that they go through the coach appointment process properly rather than giving it to the homegrown caretaking star who got a number of wins under his belt against, well, questionable opposition.

Cotchin starred for the game, a 132SC off 27 disposals was the highest for the game, Reilly top scored for the Crows with a 127SC from 25 disposals and 9 marks while Bernie Vince managed a 126 off 35 disposals. Van Berlo picked up a very nice 123SC while Gunston had a day out, 16 disposals and 5 goals for a 102SC.

    Heroes: Cotchin, Reilly, Vince
    Villians: Tuck, B. Martin

    Melbourne vs Gold Coast
    Results: Melbourne by 30, 17.10.112 to 12.10.82

It really wasnt a suprise to see the Gold Coast go down, its been a long season and the young guys must be getting sore and tired. It makes me hope that the Bombers get a chance to play the GWS for a second time next year. I certainly hope that the teams that played the GC twice this year, dont get a chance to play the GWS twice next year!!

Garland top scored for the Demons with 29 touches and a goal for a 149SC, while Rischitelli was the top dog of the GC with a 30 touch 134SC. Gaz tried valiantly with 28 touches and 6 tackles for a 125SC while Blease and Moloney rounded out the top5 with a 121 and 117 respectively. Smith tried after his break, but is still making the villians list with a 68SC while any coach still seething over Howes 2SC last week wont be impressed his 36SC this week!

    Heroes: Garland, Rischitelli, Ablett
    Villians: Iles, Smith, Trengove

    Essendon vs Port Adelaide
    Results: Essendon by 7, 17.18.120 to 17.11.113

Essendon had absolutely no right winning this game, heck, I mocked them in the post holder while I was getting the review together! Silly Bombers, and silly Port too!

Was a huge game for Robbie Gray though- 20 disposals and 6 goals for a game high 168SC. Miles off the pace was Angus Monfries with 27 disposals and a 131SC. Hille was solid with 20 touches and 18 hitouts for a 122 while Hurley did alright in front of goals, a lazy 11 disposals for 4 goals and a 116SC. Stanton rounds out the top5 with a 114SC. Villian wise, you gotta have some premiums playing to get villians so I reckon Im pretty safe to leave this one blank! :p

    Heroes: Gray, Monfries, Hille
    Villians:

So there we go, only one more game til were done. One more game time the $50 is given out (Or for us mortal folk- til we walk out with a premiership cup!)

Dont think Im breaking any rules to let you know that Impromptu managed a very tidy 2386 this week and got himself into the SCE2 grandfinal. Not a bad year mate- hopefully youve still got your lead heading into the last week mate!!

As for the rest of us, let me know how youre going guys!
