So, Round six, rivalry round, has come and gone. And what started with an absolute panic, has finished with a suprising amount of decent scores. One I noticed, and sorry for pointing you out, broke 2000 with Ablett, Mitchell and Rockliff sitting on the field. would have been close to 2300 had this round not been painful.
Luckily, its finally time to start cashing in our cows. Or as they say in the biz, MMOOOOOOOOO. Theres a handful of cows that are due to be led to the slaughter, and a number of delicious premiums to get into.
Anyways, the round started with a battle between two of the top4 favorites. St. Kilda and the Western Bulldogs. And what an... interesting... game it was. About a kajillion disposals, under 100 points scored. Gilbee top scored in the game with a 153. Hargrave looks to have bottomed out. Looking pretty delicious at under $400k. Robbie Murphy bounced back with a 73 so his owners would be crossing their fingers for another good game from him next week. Higgins disappointed, but not as much as B. Hall who was held to 6 touches for one goal. He would have lost so cash, so if youve got a spare trade this week, it might be time to upgrade him.
More over the break,

Saturday saw North Melbourne take on Melbourne. Jamar continued with his ripping for knocking up a ton. As did Petterd, hitting a solid 76, and breaking the $400k mark. Trengove and Scully did enough with 60s each, but will be approaching slaughterpoint if they cant put up a decent score next week. Meanwhile, Sylvia disappointed along with Harvey and Cunnington, who isnt coming out as the cashcow we all dreamed for. Currently his BE is worse than many of the options youd trade down to him.
The other game on Satuday was the Showdown. Which saw D. Rodan continue his post-knee form with another ton on the board, but it was Robbie Gray who impressed the most, rewarding those patient coaches with a solid 127. But there was a lot to not like about this game. Vince, Bock and Goodwin are coninuing their slide, while Tippett finally hit his breakeven! Still, might be a couple of good pickups for 2011 (well, not Goodwin.). On the rookie front, Davis did the job with a solid enough 53. Should still be in the team next week I reckon.
Saturday night saw beer consumed and the Bombers take the 4 points over the Hawks. Man, I do enjoy seeing us beat the Hawks. But I wont go on too much about it, as there is as much grace in being a good winner as there is a good loser. Jobe and Stanton led the way with a 140 and a 137 each. I do admit, I had a little bit of an non-Supercoach moment, shouting "take that you [so and so]" as Hodge, my captain, got pinged for holding the ball in the forth. Back to Supercoach, the rookies in this game went both ways- Stratton scored a delicious 83, taking his breakeven from -32 to -73. While at the other side, JKT scored a 14- punishing all those coaches who grabbed him to cover for a zero. Gumby did what Gumby does and scored a solid 57. Loving his slow burning. There were a number of disappointments with Ellis, Roughead, Rioli, schoenmakers and Lewis all disappointing. Hopefully Mitchell can make it back next week- hell be a great upgrade soon.
The other game in Saturday night was the Swannies taking down the Lions. Would the result have gone the otherway up in Queensland, maybe, but regardless, Sydney hold their place at the top of the ladder. Big JB gave the bird, in the form of a 143, to all those who were worried about his injury, but there is still time for his injury concerns to come back and bite. But then it was all Swans with Grundy showing the MPP love, while Malceski continued his good form. Hannebery and Banfield continued their smashing form. The pain came from Goodes with a 62 while Brennan punished those who picked him up in the Roo trade. I reckon Im gunna have to do a review of the various Roo trades- see which worked and which didnt. Meanwhile, Jetta scored a 21 and might be getting close to slaughtertime. Sadly the most pain came from Seaby, getting himself injured at the opening bounce- scoring 3 OUCH!!.
Sunday saw Geelong go whack- and smash the Tigers by a massive 110 points. Im gunna have to see where this game fits into the top 20, cause they dominated with Paul Chapman with a fantastic captains knock of 165. Props to all those who set him as their Ablett fill-in. Johnson and Selwood also made tasty captain options with 148 and 140 respectively. Geelong rookies did well, Podsiadly put up a magnificent 119, while Duncan got himself an 83. Now, Im not going to say much about Richmond- not much to say, but Farmer and Nason did alright considering. Tuck and Newman also put in a noble effort in a team that was devastated.
One of the games of the round was Carlton v Collingwood. Which saw an interesting game. Looking at the quarter by quarter scores, it was a one sided effort, but in reality, we saw a fairly up and down battle, with Collingwood getting up by 40 early, Carlton then clawed it back with 5 goals from Setana OhAilpin. Only to see Collingwood kick away again to win by 50 points. Luke Ball repaid my faith in him with a nice 120, while Lucass by, Wellingham continued his great form with a 117. Daisy continues his breakout year with a nice 99 while Didak did alright with a 77, but is still deliciously trade-in-able for the next few weeks. Dane Swan looks to be crashing in price and will be a great pick up in a week, while H. Shaw should be nice in two weeks. Neon Leon is still sliding down with a 34 and is going down down down.
The last game of the round was the Western Derby. Fremantle got over the top of the Coasters in a solid effort. Barlow top scored again with a 126, while the top 5 was rounded out with Fremantles Pavlich, Mundy, Duffield and Sandi. Swift had a magnificent game back, maybe theres still a chance for the tenner Ive got on him for the raising star! LeCras came back alright with a 83 while Hurn continued his mighty SuperCoach ratio with a 99 (off 61 DT). Ballantyne scored a 78, though was struggling with what looked like knee issues throughout the game. Hams, with his funny name, did well with a 69 while Fyfe scored a tasty 74- could be a good option for a downgrade!
Now, the tipping for this round was pretty tough. The winner of the tipping was Oakesy with 7 correct tips. Funnily their were 4 people who tipped 7 tips, and they all picked Goddard. One just picked Goddard a little better than the rest.
Of course, because of the lack of Ablett, the Sideways cup is *still* being taken out by a round 2 score. I guess its going to take until after the upgrade period to get it beat!
The TooSerious leagues are still sitting in 7th, 20th, 38th, 41st and 83rd , while I hear that the Pine Warmers are cruising along nicely. Anyone wanna let me know exactly where they and the Orange boys are sitting this week?
The highest scorer for the round was a 2567- Obviously they didnt have any zeros. Lucky bugger!. hows everyone else doing?
Anyways, thats the review. Next week we will see the field of women- Which weve got a competition up for. Details of the competition can be found <a href="http://tooserious.net/?p=1087">here[/url]. But essentially, well be donating 1 dollar for every entrant (up to 100) - doubling that if a women wins. Oh, and of course, the 2 Big day out tickets from those legends at Combined Chauffeured Cars.
Stats are updating as we speak.
