    Man United v Newcastle

Rooneys goal drought continues in league matches for United, thats now eight in a row. Hernandez has no such problems as he scored for the second game running. Phil Jones - one of Uniteds best performers this season - was surprisingly omitted from the match-day squad. While Anderson is going to be missing until February due to a knee-injury. Fabio started at right-back while Rio retained his place alongside Vidic. It was Ferdinands challenge that led to Bas equaliser, a shocking decision that was given on the linesmans say so. Young started for Man U but was largely anonymous after his injury lay-off, while Fabio showed his inexperience and there remains question-marks about his credentials.

Gutierez was red-carded and will now sit out a game. Krul made some big saves and Newcastle will be happy with a point. Chelsea up next at the Sport Direct... Direct Sport... Directcom.sport... Direct Arena... sorry I mean St James Park.<!--more-->

    Chelsea v Wolves

Lampard, Bosingwa, Torres, Mikel and Malouda all started on the bench for this one. Sturridge is starting to put together a run of decent performers. Mata was the star of the show though with one goal and two assists. The assists were for Sturridge and Terry. Cole assisted Matas goal. A welcome performance and clean sheet for Chelsea. Summer signing from Barca - Romeu - made his first league start for the club.

    Norwich v QPR

After some prompting from Anthak, Paul Lambert put in De Laet for his first start in weeks. Luke Young ensured there would be no clean sheet though as he scored his second goal in two weeks. Martin and Holt from a Hoolahan assist got the goals for Norwich. Barton served his suspension while Cerny got a rare start in goals with Kenny injured. Norwich 2-1.

    Arsenal v Fulham

A brilliant goal-line clearance from Chris Baird brought a halt to RVPs sensational scoring run. While Vermaelen looked like he was making up for lost time by scoring both goals in the 1-1 draw. Arshavin started at the expense of Gervinho who was rested. Dembele and Schwarzer were stand-outs against a slightly lacklustre Arsenal. Riise was involved in Vermaelens own goal while Walcott assisted his goal at the right end. Arsenals next three: Wigan (a), Everton, Man City (a).

    WBA v Spurs

Spurs continued their excellent unbeaten run to ten games and they managed it without their two main play-makers. VDV (hamstring) and Modric (illness). Defoe - who took VDVs spot - has allegedly told Redknapp that he wants to leave on loan in January to secure game-time in the lead-up to the Euros. He showed his worth again with a goal straight out of the top-drawer.

Adebayor scored another two after his brace last week. One of his goals was a rebound from his own saved penalty from Ben Foster. Bale assisted the other. Adebayor assisted Defoes effort. Mulumba was WBAs scorer. Odemwingie stayed on the bench until the 70th minute when he replaced Long.

    Stoke v Blackburn

Delap, Whelan and Crouch were the scorers for Stoke with Rochina scoring a beauty for Blackburn. Sorensen remained in goals for Stoke with Bergovic again sitting on the bench. Blackburn fall back to the bottom of the table and Steve Keans record now stands at six league wins from 33! Nzonzi received a retrospective red card for a nasty elbow on Shawcross and will miss Blackburns next two league games against Swansea and Sunderland. Stoke get back to winning ways after four straight losses.

    Bolton v Everton

Bilyaletdinov polarises opinion about whether hes got what it takes at EPL level. He was, however, given his chance at Bolton at the expense of Drenthe*. Wheater was red-carded after only 20minutes and from that point onwards Everton rarely looked in trouble.

Their goals came from Fellaini and Vellios, with the latter continuing his impressive trick of scoring shortly after coming off the subs bench. Cahill had his chances but has now gone 24 matches since his last goal. Rodwell missed out again with injury. Cahill and Baines supplied the assists. Apart from Arsenal away, Everton have a great run of games coming up.

    Sunderland v Wigan

Larsson scored on his return from suspension before Gomez equalised with a penalty after Moses was brought down. Di Santo went on to score the winner after a mistake by Wes Brown. It was a welcome three points for Wigan who now face Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United in four of their next five games. Sunderland have now won only once in their last nine home games and reports are appearing that Steve Bruce has two games to save his job: Wolves (a) and Blackburn at home.

    Swansea v Villa

This scoreless draw was completely overshadowed by the horrendous news - confirmed 90mins before kick-off - that Welsh manager Gary Speed had taken his own life. Speed played 535 premier league games and is without doubt an absolute premier league legend. The game will always be remembered for the circumstances under which it was played and for the poignant image of Villa goalie Shay Given - a former team -mate and good friend of Gary Speeds - unable to contain his grief.

    RIP Gary Speed

    Liverpool v Man City

Craig Bellamy missed out on compassionate grounds while Carragher remained on the bench. Nasri started for City with Dzeko and Balotelli both benched.

Kompany scored for City but Liverpool equalised two minutes later when Lescott deflected an Adam shot into his own goal. Balotelli got red-carded 18mins after coming off the bench (he served his one-match suspension in Wednesday mornings League Cup tie though so wont miss league games).

Hart pulled off some tremendous saves and a draw was probably a fair result.
