Clean sheets were all the rage this week with 3 scoreless draws so I think this weeks high scorer must have had Defoe in his team along with 10 defenders. GW14 kicks off Wed morning so get your transfers done early this week folks. Join me over the break for a review of the weekends games..<!--more-->

    Stoke v Fulham 1-0

Stoke are now unbeaten in 14 league games at home and continue to rack up the clean sheets while Fulham lost their first away game in five.

It was a deserved victory as Fulham showed little until the final 10mins. Crouch assisted Adam’s goal. Etheringon appears to be getting a run of games ahead of summer signing Kightly.

With Ruiz out Jol partnered Petric with Berbatov, while Rodallega and Duff were on the subs bench. Hangeland served the first game of his suspension.

    Everton v Norwich 1-1

The Toffeemen – who had Fellaini, Coleman and Neville out – just came up short for the 3pts. Naismith (goal) continues to flourish in Mirallas absence while Oviedo (assist) did well in his first league start but Everton again failed to capitalise on chances made. That’s five draws in seven with Arsenal midweek kicking off a nasty run of games.

Norwich came into the game after a slow start and are now unbeaten in six PL games. Garrido again brought home some returns by assisting Bassong’s first goal in two years. Ruddy came off injured and is a doubt. Pilkington impressed as Norwich gear up for a midweek trip to Southampton.

    Man Utd v QPR 3-1

He might not be a FF legend but my goodness he’s a legend nonetheless. Darren Fletcher making his first PL appearance in more than a year due to serious illness (which is ongoing) scored to celebrate his comeback. Evans and Hernandez also got on the scoresheet. Rooney, Welbeck and Anderson all saw some assist action. DDG was on the bench as Evans returned but OT clean sheets are a rarity these days anyway. Anderson came off the bench and changed the game in Utd’s favour after a slack first hour.

Mackie got a rare start alongside Cisse and got on the scoresheet as Keiran Dyer, yes Keiran Dyer, assisted. Redknapp will take charge for the midweek game.

    Southampton v Newcastle 2-0

Southampton absolutely destroyed a Newcastle side that are stumbling from one game to the next. Having the likes of Colocinni, Cabaye and Ben Arfa missing doesn’t help the cause.

Southampton’s main players were again Lambert, Lallana, Ramirez and Puncheon. Ramirez (1 goal) in particular looks like he’s really coming onto a game. Lallana scored from a Puncheon assist. First clean sheet of the season for Saints.

    Spurs v West Ham 3-1

Well deserved win for Spurs with Bale, Lennon, Dempsey and two goal Defoe the standouts. Bale’s goal was assisted by Dempsey while Lennon assisted for Defoe. Lloris continued in goal while Gallas was surprisingly dropped for Dawson. Dembele made a long awaited comeback – playing the last 10mins. Spurs still struggle for clean sheets though and Andy Carroll with his first goal in 14 games made sure there wasn’t one here. Demel was again on the bench while Nolan was only afforded 68mins, with a tough run of games coming up.

    Wigan v Reading 3-2

Jordi Gomez stuck it up the boo-boys by baggin himself a hat-trick in his first start in two months. Kone, Beausejour and sub Di Santo supplied the assists.

Shorey continues to rack up scoring returns, which is just as well as Reading don’t really do clean sheets. He assisted Morrison’s goal while Al-Habsi scored an absolute howler of an OG. Robson-Kanu started again while The Pog remains on the periphery. Reading go to Villa midweek for a six-pointer.

    Sunderland v WBA 2-4

West Brom won their 4th straight game to climb to 3rd on the table. They had four different attacking players on the scoresheet – Gera and Long as well as subs, Fortune and Lukaku (pen). Myhill continues in goal with Foster out injured.

Mignolet had a poor game. Gardner came off the bench to score a free-kick and Sess scored for the second week in a row (Fletcher assist). McLean came on for O’Shea at HT. Another poor result for The Mackems.

The three remaining games were all goal-less draws lacking in incident so I’ll just throw them all together quickly.

Villa v Arsenal was a turgid affair as Arsenal rested regulars Sagna, Vermaelen and Wilshere due to the heavy schedule. Ireland and Holman were on the bench for Villa. Chealsea v Man City saw Rafa get boo-ed by his own fans but say what you will about him, he does run a tight ship, he also loves rotation so BEWARE! Cahill dropped out for Ivanovich and Azpilicueta kept his place at RB. So very similar to what RDM would’ve done.

Nastasic continues to rack up the game time. Zabaleta did some attacking with purpose while Tevez surprisingly sat on the bench until the 70min mark.

Oh yeah, and Torres was chronic again.

First clean sheet in 11 for Swansea while Liverpool are 8 games unbeaten. Suarez had a quietish game, Sterling hit the bar and Enrique had a goal disallowed. Shechter only lasted a half while Dyer came on at 67mins.

I scored the weekly average of 38, I actually thought I was doing relatively well as I couldnt see where the points were coming from this week. Started off quite happy with my gamble of benching Berba but Lambert couldnt quite get on the scoresheet to make a difference. My team remains around the 120k mark, let us know how youre all going
