    Gday all
    Just wondering what peoples opinions are on cash in the bank and how much is too much ?
    I guess by now most of us have their team 99% picked.
    without getting into it too much i have 14 fingers crossed keepers 2 players between 200 and 300k and the rest rookies ( unless this injury toll gets worse ) and without changing my team i will start with 151k in the bank ?

    i keep telling myself this is a waste , tho if i try to alter my team too much i lose the rookies i want to keep start doubling up with too many players from 1 team and so on , and after 2 hours of staring at the screen im starting to out think myself and go bonkers with shuffling and re reading stats ..

    so just to ease my mind are you players cramming in as much as possible and starting with 2k in the bank or are people happy with their starting order and 100k in the bank , cheers ;-)

    The most important thing is picking the best possible team you can. If you think you've done that with 150k in the bank then I guess its ok...I find it hard to believe there isn't 1 or 2 people that couldn't be improved on your list? I like the idea of some money in the bank (under 50k or so) so I have some flexibility in early trades.

    Good question. I went with $40k last year, and I'm aiming for the same this year. Just means when there is an injury early on (yes, when, not if) you don't have to downgrade but can look for more expensive options as well. Saved me last year when I lost someone early (can't remember who) and used the extra cash to get Judd into the side when he returned from suspension.

    Depends what your aim is too...

    If you're looking to win the $50k then spending the cash gives a better chance of higher scores early. If it's a safety net then it'll help to cover any losses.

    You can't take it with you, and it doesn't gain interest...

    yer i keep thinking the same thing about upgrading , i guess i would spend closer to the max if it wasnt for the bye rounds and not wanting to have multiple players from 1 team.

    @notooserious
    the cash saving is coming from choices such as bartel over selwood and so on which i still might change.
    i have been thinking of a possible rookie to morton / higgins type player .

    @corks
    cheers , might set myself a budget and see if i can squeeze one more in

    @mad
    i hadnt actually thought what the cash was for , it was just after setting my team for the 200th time i was finally semi happy untill i noticed the spare cash and it started to drive me crazy trying to figure out what i was missing lol

    but who knows with supercoach , read one more news story tweak this change that and ill end up starting 100k in debt and owing my firstborn to shane crawford or something lol

    This is a good question. Depends on your team structure, make sure u aren't going too risky with too many risky rookies in your starting 22, cause early donuts will cost u. Personally I think it is best to spend some more of that. I would maybe upgrade a Pendlebury to a Swan or something similar if that's possible, but I don't think there is a magic number, depends on your team.

    Personally I think $150k is too much, as it is the difference between a rookie and a mid pricer, or a mid pricer and a premium. You could be losing 40ppg right there.
    That much money in the kitty is wasted money imo. Around $40k is perfect for one of those round 1-3 'mistake' trades.

    ive shuffled my team around again (i think i will call my team porn star as its had that many ins and outs in the last week )
    and i think your right that having 150k is too much really to have

    the final choice is coming down to my last two mid /forward players tho its going to involve a mid price discount player

    missy/yarran missy/morton morton /horton arghh do not read your kids dr zeus before supercoach it really messes you up arghhhh

    that will leave me with 2 or 3 captain choices 10(hopefull keepers ) 2 discount players and rest rooks
    and providing no more rook casualties 41k for a rainy day

    fingers crossed ;-)

    As Nick points out, there is a previous thread on this that is worth reading for anyone pondering the leftover cash question. From memory, Lucas advocates putting it all on the field.
