Gentlemen, I know some of you are involved in other ORFF*'s (particularly the 'FF), many of which seem to have a good thing going with representative contests during the byes and at the end of the season. I'm thinking we should steal these ideas! For those that aren't aware, basically the leagues are split into two (alphabetically, geographically, whatever-ally) and the coaches in both halves collectively select the best players from their sides to play against the other half. I personally would like to see us do the same thing this year in R23, and in future years at the end of the season and during the byes. Anyone else up for such madness??? @insider @Tomster @HOLKY @bryzza @eagle_eyed @ddsaints @DamoH @tyze1 @TigersTooTough @YAD69 @wrightbrendan @Tylo @Mick @fresh @choppers @Batfink @martyg
Sounds great! Might even have a flow on effect of increased trading with the greater interest across mid-season breaks
Sounds like a plan. I'm not particularly fussed as to how it's divided, as long as every team has one representative. We could also look to have 22 man squads and stipulate that every team has to have 2 players. Some ideas: South-East versus the Rest SE - Ararat, Blanchetown, Eden, Gisborne, Korumburra, King Island, Pakenham, Pearcedale, Staghorn Flat. The rest - Bangchang, Cow Bay, Christmas Island, Coolgardie, Groote, Hughenden, Nuytsland, Serengeti, Southern Cross. Man versus Nature: Nature - Armadillos, Crocs, Barracudas, Prairie-Dogs, Blowflies, Panthers, Buffaloes, Sandgropers, Bulls. Man - Bunyips, BarCrawlers, Smugglers, Prospectors, Whalers, Grenades, Monarchs, Vikings, Parasites.
Since we've got half the league for each team, do we want to go with the 22 player sides (no emergencies) as suggested by DamoH (he's on a roll with good suggestions ), or keep it to a standard 'FU 15 per side? It'll either be: 22 players per team D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, D6 M1, M2, M3, M4, M5 R1 F1, F2, F3, F4, F5, F6 I1, I2, I3, I4 15 player per team D1, D2, D3, D4 M1, M2, M3, M4 R1 F1, F2, F3, F4 I1, I2 To continue with just plagarising DamoH's suggestions , 22-player teams would require 2 players per ORFFU team (as a minimum), while 15-player teams would only require 1 player per ORFFU side. An easy vote here (edit: now made a fraction harder, thanks to @fresh) 22-player teams, 15-player teams 27-player teams (with one emergency per line from the 22-man option, and exactly 3 players per 'FU team selected) Lets get this going for round 23. Sorry, in one of those moods
To be a pain in the backside and list another option, if you go with 27 man squads (1 emergency each line) then that's 3 players from each 'FU team
Love the idea... Man vs Nature ... gold. 2 players per team I say... 22 players. There will be no need for emergencies! Will be good to see who the 2 x Rucks are. Also who are the two team captains? I vote for whoever has done the best write ups each week... like @choppers and @DamoH for example!
Rep games I like it. The funny part about round 23 is it would have to be played on a Sunday (barring cloning)
So its settled, in round 23, and during future bye weeks, we'll have a Man versus Nature (thanks Damo!) representative footy game. Teams will be 22 players each, made up of 6 Defenders, 5 Midfielders, 1 Ruckman, 6 Forwards, and 4 Interchange players from any position (think of a normal footy team with the FB, HB, C, HF, FF, & Fol lines, plus the bench). There will be no emergencies (so if someone is a late out, that team will simply be down a player). Each ORFFU club must have a minimum of 2 players in the representative side - juggle your teams well. The teams will be: MAN Banchang Barcrawlers @choppers Blanchetown Bunyips @martyg Christmas Island Smugglers @DamoH Coolgardie Prospectors @JPK Eden Whalers @HOLKY Gisborne Grenades @Tomster King Island Monarchs @Tylo Nuytsland Vikings @bryzza Pakenham Parasites @ddsaints NATURE Ararat Armadillos @insider Cow Bay Crocs @fresh Groote Eylandt Barracudas @YAD69 Hughenden Prairie Dogs @Batfink Korumburra Blowflies @Mick Pearcedale Panthers @TigersTooTough Serengeti Buffalos @wrightbrendan Southern Cross Sandgropers @eagle_eyed Staghorn Flat Bulls @tyze1 Lockout will be prior to bouncedown of the first match of the round (Crows v Eagles in R23 of 2016), and there will be no changing of teams after that point. Get planning!!!!
Looks good but surely we should have an emergency on each line. Pointless going to all this effort if a couple of late outs kill one teams chances - a definite possibility in R23
