    Good evening all,

well, here it is, Back for 2012! The Silverback's great weekly review on the Team Of The Round.
A quick summary for those of you who are either a) new to this, or b) exceptionally forgetful. Each week I'll show you what the highest possible score could have been if you had fluked the perfect combination and squeezed it all in under the $10m salary cap.

Gotta admit that this week's TOTR was by far the hardest I've ever done. The best scores added up to 3074 but were a huge $1.9m over budget... anyway, some serious trimming has produced this result:

    To score 2981 you needed:

    Adcock - BL - $490,300 - 140
    Hibberd - ESS - $400,600 - 116
    Yarran - CAR - $473,400 - 111
    Thompson - KAN - $459,100 - 111
    Dempsey - ESS - $273,800 - 98
    Bugg - GWS - $113,200 - 88
    Mohr - GWS - $124,700 - 86

    Stanton - ESS - $538,800 - 360 (c)
    Pendlebury - COL - $700,500 - 167
    Black - BL - $507,600 - 152
    Thompson - ADE - $598,800 - 147
    Jack - SYD - $438,400 - 134
    Hartlett - PTA - $499,800 - 134

    Ryder - ESS - $492,600 - 165
    Kreuzer - CAR - $418,300 - 125

    Tippett - ADE - $392,400 - 150
    Franklin - HAW - $600,600 - 142
    Riewoldt - RIC - $441,600 - 118
    Kennedy - WCE - $470,300 - 115
    Dahlhaus - WBD - $355,800 - 112
    Walker - ADE - $338,600 - 106
    Kennedy - GWS - $113,200 - 104

bank of $0 and a bench made up of $94,700 no-namers

so who got the cut? (all too expensive)
    Goddard - STK - $584,700 - 116
    Rance - RIC - $456,800 - 108
    Hanley - BL - $447,700 - 104
    Richards - SYD - $413,300 - 104

    Del Santo - STK - $647,100 - 148
    Ablett (Gary, not Nathan)- GCS - $689,000 - 139
    Rockliff - BL - $615,600 - 139
    Mitchell - HAW - $615,000 - 139

    Rioli - HAW - $540,100 - 116
    Zaharakis - ESS - $494,100 - 112

Special mention to Essendon for getting 4 players in to the TOTR (could have been 5 if Zaharakis wasn't squeezed out). So yeah, well done to The Bombers, but I still hate 'em for beating my Hawks in the '84 and '85 Grand Finals.

So, why so hard to get under budget? Basically none of the cheap players smashed through the 120 mark. The cheapest player in the original score was Luke Dahlhaus at $355,800. In fact the average player price to make the over-budget TOTR was $507,000!

Anyway, let's hope that next week see's some big scores from the cheaper players and an easier job for me!

    Take care,

    The Silverback
