Well, that was quick. Last review was just after Round 8 with all SuperCoaches fearing the then upcoming, bye rounds. Now, they've come and gone and we are sitting just after Round 16 with the SuperCoach finals just around the corner. Who's excited?

The most recent portion of the season has seen the two top teams run away from the competition while the fight for 8th spot is spicing up. Port Adelaide, Carlton, West Coast and Adelaide (in that order) are the ones who are the most realistic chance of making the finals. The make-up of the top 4 is also interesting with Essendon, Sydney and Fremantle fighting for a double-chance. Collingwood and Richmond seem content with their likely elimination finals. We have also seen some star SC players miss games, underperform and lose their ways. Equally, we have seen some players play out of their skins and stars like Pendlebury keep on keeping on.

Now, just to rehash, each club will have 3 categories; a [span style='font-weight: bold;]SuperCoach SuperStar (not necessarily the leading scorer but the player that has been the most consistent and high scoring), a [span style='font-weight: bold;]Bolter (player scoring better than most would have thought) and a [span style='font-weight: bold;]Disappointment (someone who hasn't come on as well as we would have liked). Each player listed in these categories will have their season averages alongside them however the category in which they are placed in, represents their form since the last review.

Now that we have gone through everything, let's get started.

    <p style='line-height: 13pt;][span style='font-size: 13pt; font-weight: bold;]Adelaide (6 wins 9 losses)
[span style='font-weight: bold;]SuperCoach SuperStar: Patrick Dangerfield (avg 114.27)
    [span style='font-weight: bold;]Bolter: Richard Douglas (avg 104.67)
    [span style='font-weight: bold;]Disappointment: Scott Thompson (avg 98.47)

Adelaide have been one of the disappointments of the season. A team that finished last season a kick off a grand final has lacked any penetration up forward with big Taylor Walker missing. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Patrick Dangerfield started the season off slowly however, since the last review, he has averaged 120.29 which is fantastic. This includes this past rounds score of 70, where he played with a sprained AC joint. A very valiant effort from the superstar. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Richard Douglas has continued his consistent season and has recaptured his best and fairest form. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Rory Sloane (avg 100.13) has been up and down but is an excitement machine that is never really out of a contest. Former 10-goal hero [span style='font-weight: bold;]Tom T Lynch (avg 81.59) has been inconsistent as well, but has been a decent cash cow. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Brad Crouch (avg 78.14) has really excelled in the last few weeks showing why he was picked up a year early by the Crows.

[span style='font-weight: bold;]Scott Thompson has averaged just 86.85 in his past 7 outings which isn't good enough for a star” midfielder. He is the first player to be SuperCoach SuperStar in one review, then the Disappointment in the next one. Scotty, I know you're reading this. Lift your game mate. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Sam Jacobs (avg 82.80) has continued his poor season, frustrating his owners. We are at a stage however, where you can't trade your premiums out unless you are loaded with trades. He has only hit the 100 barrier twice since Round 3. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Jason Porplyzia (avg 60.57) is well and truly past his best SuperCoach days.

If you're looking for a POD for your bench for the finals series, although he has been disappointing, [span style='font-weight: bold;]Scott Thompson looks good value at $446k. He is a proven performer and is a player you can put the emergency on and see if he starts knocking out regular tons.

    <p style='line-height: 13pt;][span style='font-size: 13pt; font-weight: bold;]Brisbane Lions (6 wins 9 losses)
[span style='font-weight: bold;]SuperCoach SuperStar: Matthew Leuenberger (Avg 98.85)
    [span style='font-weight: bold;]Bolter: Brent Staker (avg 84.25)
    [span style='font-weight: bold;]Disappointment: Dayne Zorko (avg 84.20)

No Brisbane player has averaged 100 or over for the season which shows their relative fantasy irrelevance. Three players have been good; [span style='font-weight: bold;]Matthew Leuenberger, Tom Rockliff (avg 99.79) and Pearce Hanley (avg 98.86). They find themselves in quite a few teams across the competition. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Jack Redden (avg 96.07) has been decent but has probably gone backwards from this time last season. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Brent Staker is the original swingman in AFL parlance and has shown his SC ability in recent weeks. He's been a great pickup for a rookie price.

[span style='font-weight: bold;]Dayne Zorko, the magician”, has been a disappointment this season. He has been shut out of matches far too easily and only comes out with the odd good game. Although he has been good this season, [span style='font-weight: bold;]Pearce Hanley has averaged just 84.57 in his past 7 after a blistering start to the season in which he averaged more than 113. He has been tagged off half-back however he has moved to a high half-forward role in recent weeks which has brought a few good scores. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Brent Moloney (avg 86.69) has also slowed after a strong start to the season.

Surprisingly, Brisbane sit just two games and percentage outside the top 8. They have got Melbourne this week and don't discount some of their stars turning it on. If you don't have [span style='font-weight: bold;]Tom Rockliff get him in. He had a 6-week period where he attended just 3 centre bounces. That shouldn't be the case any more.

    <p style='line-height: 13pt;][span style='font-size: 13pt; font-weight: bold;]Carlton (7 wins 8 losses)
[span style='font-weight: bold;]SuperCoach SuperStar: Andrew Walker (avg 107)
    [span style='font-weight: bold;]Bolter: Lachie Henderson (avg 85.87)
    [span style='font-weight: bold;]Disappointment: Marc Murphy (avg 90.86)

Carlton's chance of making the finals rest in their hands. They've been disappointing so far this season but it can all change with some good games to finish off the season. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Andrew Walker has dropped off but is still averaging 107 which is very good. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Chris Judd (avg 102) has pulled out some vintage performances averaging 109.33 in his past 6 outings. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Bryce Gibbs (avg 99.33) has hurt owners the last 2 weeks however has been a solid defender this season. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Matthew Kreuzer (avg 95.58) has been under some intense media scrutiny in the last month but, as a Kreuzer owner, I will take his average of 109.71 in the last 7 matches.

[span style='font-weight: bold;]Marc Murphy has been a bit unlucky. Since Round 9, he has suffered a broken cheekbone and been in poor form. He has averaged a horrible 74.5 in the last 6 however this includes his 22 against Hawthorn where he was subbed in the first quarter. He costs just $377k as a result. Food for thought. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Jeff Garlett (avg 81.87) averaged 103 after Round 8. Peaking at $525k he has been nothing short of terrible since then. He currently costs $290k after his average of 57.14 in the last 7 matches. Boy Oh Boy, Wowee that is a terrible score for one of the infamous mosquito fleet”. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Heath Scotland (avg 80.08) has hurt me along with 15 335 others. His age seems to have caught up with him.

Mick Malthouse will look to bring the best out of his players which means that cream should rise to the top. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Marc Murphy is tremendous value at his price and would be a great M9.

    <p style='line-height: 13pt;][span style='font-size: 13pt; font-weight: bold;]Collingwood (10 wins 5 losses)
[span style='font-weight: bold;]SuperCoach SuperStar: Scott Pendlebury (avg 130.33)
    [span style='font-weight: bold;]Bolter: Luke Ball (avg 98.43)
    [span style='font-weight: bold;]Disappointment: Jordan Russell (avg 67.12)

[span style='font-weight: bold;]Scott Pendlebury. What a player. He is such a good player that appears to have all the time in the world with ball in hand. SuperStar. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Dane Swan (avg 117.53) has been a little disappointing with his up and down form but the star can pull out massive scores. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Heath Shaw (avg 103.67) is a very good player and probably, behind Goddard, the best SC defender. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Steele Sidebottom (avg 100.07) and Luke Ball have been good.

[span style='font-weight: bold;]Jordan Russell appeared to be decent value at the start of the season however he has only played 8 games and averaged a little over 67. I expected more from [span style='font-weight: bold;]Jarryd Blair (avg 78.33) in the last review and he has failed to deliver. He does however, have to contend with the Fab Four for points so maybe he can be forgiven. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Dale Thomas (avg 79.20) has only played 5 games this season and has been very disappointing. He will be cheap as chips next season though.

An easy two games coming up for Collingwood, followed by numerous tests that will show us the true class of this team. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Dayne Beams made his comeback over the weekend and didn't appear to miss a beat. He is too expensive but will score well.

    <p style='line-height: 13pt;][span style='font-size: 13pt; font-weight: bold;]Essendon (12 wins 3 losses)
[span style='font-weight: bold;]SuperCoach SuperStar: Brendon Goddard (avg 105.13)
    [span style='font-weight: bold;]Bolter: Courtney Dempsey (avg 87.18)
    [span style='font-weight: bold;]Disappointment: Michael Hurley (avg 66.25)

What drugs? Well, for now, we can forget the debacle of the ASADA and WADA investigation because the Bombers have been very, very good this season. Only two players have averaged above 100 for the Bombers this season with one [span style='font-weight: bold;]Jobe Watson (avg 110.71) now injured. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Goddard has been his consistent self and we all love having him in our defences. Another great defender this season has been [span style='font-weight: bold;]Dyson Heppell (avg 96.36) with the great man having a consistency rating of just 14 (quite consistent). [span style='font-weight: bold;]Brent Stanton (avg 99.79) has again been up and down however has avoided media scrutiny enjoying a pretty good season overall. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Michael Hibberd (avg 96.07) and Dempsey have been decent off half-back albeit inconsistent.

[span style='font-weight: bold;]Michael Hurley has disappointed both for Essendon and from and SC perspective. Not many would have him anyway so not a huge issue. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Tom Bellchambers (avg 83.92) has only lifted his average with a great past two weeks in what has been an otherwise disappointing season. [span style='font-weight: bold;]David Myers (avg 73.73) is the superboot for Essendon however has been very disappointing as well.

Essendon will definitely look to cement a spot in the top 4 and, without their captain, they will hope for improved performances from certain players. [span style='font-weight: bold;]David Zaharakis (avg 90.13) will have a bigger role if he can avoid injury while [span style='font-weight: bold;]Goddard and Heppell will have increased midfield time.

    <p style='line-height: 13pt;][span style='font-size: 13pt; font-weight: bold;]Fremantle (11 wins 3 losses 1 draw)
[span style='font-weight: bold;]SuperCoach SuperStar: Michael Barlow (avg 114.29)
    [span style='font-weight: bold;]Bolter: Garrick Ibbotson (avg 101.18)
    [span style='font-weight: bold;]Disappointment: Danyle Pearce (avg 79.93)

The midfield trio of [span style='font-weight: bold;]Michael Barlow, David Mundy (avg 106.62) and Nathan Fyfe (avg 104.69) have been very good for the duration of the season. A consistent showing from all 3 has Fremantle in a great position for an onslaught on the top 4. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Garrick Ibbotson has averaged an impressive 101.71 in his past 7 appearances and has burst onto the scene as a genuine defensive option. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Chris Mayne (avg 91.20) has been quite good as the number 1 forward for the last 2 or 3 months.
<p style='margin-top: 12pt;][span style='font-weight: bold;]Danyle Pearce has continued his disappointing SC season for the Dockers. He has lifted his output slightly but not enough to avoid the well-known disappointment category. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Stephen Hill (avg 83.27) hasn't been great this season either. [span style='font-weight: bold;]Matthew Pavlich (avg 79.80) and Aaron Sandilands (avg 52.50) have played a minimal amount of games this season and Pavlich will now miss the next 3 weeks through suspension. Let' hope they lift.
<p style='margin-top: 12pt;]An ideal finals series means we need to try and load up on Dockers players. Expect the stars to continue, [span style='font-weight: bold;]Pavlich and Sandilands to fire in time for the finals and [span style='font-weight: bold;]Paul Duffield (avg 88.83) to return and excel.
    <p style='margin-top: 12pt;]
    <p style='margin-top: 12pt;]
<p style='margin-top: 12pt;]There we go. Part 1 done and dusted with these teams in very, very different positions. I think you will find a similar situation in Part 2 tomorrow. Some stars will be reviewed and maybe a couple of surprises in a different categories. Buddy who?
<p style='margin-top: 12pt;]Thanks for reading everyone and make sure to tune in tomorrow for the second part. And don't forget the plethora of articles to help you with your SC teams!
