Hi all,
Its time for some more Best Buy goodness.
Im sorry I cant be more expressive this week, but Im a bit busy, probably getting my team back in shape!
Advice for the week:
There will almost always be bargains up for grabs. Your particular favourite player might not be available at a cheap price, but because we are looking at the same pool of money, and with the development of precocious rookies, for players to keep their value they generally have to score at 9% increases on the average they currently have. With only 3300 up for grabs each week...and no 9% increase on this even over time...it stands to reason that just as some players go up in value, some must go down.
Now for the regular article items:<!--more-->
FRESH MEAT
This week, its the West Coast Eagle Brad Sheppard who is up in the mix. With a lovely 87 he showed us all what he is capable of continuing. Most of us would have had him from the get-go if hed not had those injury rumours. An early draft pick who is in a rebuilding team, and is going up - likely to be more so than Webberley. If you are going to make two defensive cow kills then it could pay to go Sheppard-Webberley.
So yeah, Webberley is the other. He has good reviews and is a straight-up player in the Hardwick manner. Good games makes him look like he is going to have a solid run but with Richmond giving everyone "a go" security is always a difficult thing to promise. At 67 in the draft was a bit of a diamond in the rough like Nason.
People have also forgotten about Roberton. Maybe a good D9 option if he gets a recall. Johnson is out this week and if fit Roberton will keep the youth revolution happening in the exciting up the guts Dockers.
Forwards have some options too. Brennan Stack has always interested me as he is a fast footballer in the Dogs style. Some may baulk at his price in the 190 range, but with Johnson an extended out, could have a place in the team where everyone seems to score 80.
Danny Hughes v Jack Watts. Its line ball. Both offer something in the future Demon forward line. Watts certainly is brilliantly talented, but will cost more, is more likely to cop an injury, and like Jesus would say "now is not my time".
Armstrong and Rohan are the options in the middle. For those contemplating using Rohan in the midfield MPP mix, its going to come at a likely 175 cost next week, so you can save 25k by going this week. I reckon waitings the go though (and Id probably have him as a forward). Armstrong...well he will get a run for a few weeks given the Adelaide disciplinary problems. But I cant say he strikes me as a regular 2010 Crow midfielder. Mind you, he has a great writeup in Crows documents on future players, and their season is stuffed already. Considering hes likely to be only the 2nd bench coverage, you can do worse than taking the coin now.
CATCH THE TRAIN
Lewis Stevenson is leaving the building midfield upgraders. James Podsiadly is going up unless he pulls his groinals again or gets 15 clangers on the Magpies.
Daniel Cross and Brendon Goddard are this week in the group of premium mids who would be the most likely to get an increase this week.
Barry Hall if he gets his average is going up this week. Hahaha why not jumping back on all those who threw him out like a lifeless blow up doll last week.
ON THE NOSE
Ryan OKeefe has had a shocker of a run recently. But hes just the type of guy to throw off a concussion and bash out the 188 he needs to stay at the 460s. Awesome value for those who havent got him. Grab him in the next fortnight.
For those who are interested in True Tip Rat Trash, then in the next few weeks Brendan Fevola goes possibly into low 300 territory and dare I say it almost direct swap for Gumbleton. If he shakes off his injury, he could end up being an amazing in come SuperCoach finals time with some easy Gabba games, Subi and the Bombers.
Gram and Drummond its time to pull the chain. And Colin Sylvia has been a decided disappointment since almost declaring himself a star again. Just a big heap of disappointment.
BEST BUYS PER POSITION
DEFENDERS
Some good value here. Malceski, Enright, Shaw and Hurn under 500k but averaging 100+. Goodwin at 426 is decent.
FORWARDS
That man Goodes showed signs of life last week. Look for more. One more week to wait before getting him in still very cheap by past standards. Id suggest Higgins/Thomas/Betts is where decent value is this week.
RUCKS
Theres no value in rucks so move along. Cox/Kreuzer are not the worst if you need to trade into them. This week is as cheap as any will be as both played massive games on the weekend
MIDFIELD
Its not always simple to find a good midfielder buy. I see Judd, Goddard and Swan as top 10 premiums who are good value and going up. Dal and Montagna are good value and going down so next week have a lash. Sam Mitchell at 460k is well below his level and might be around the sub 500 mark another week. In a side devoid of confidence and structure, and a guy who wins his own ball, he and Hodge could average 120 from here.
Thanks and thats all for this week. Happy trading.
