Hi all, sorry Im a day late.

OK its time to do some Best Buys analysis, and once again its  a good time to think about how many trades we might need come finals time.  Thats the advice for this week:  Im thinking that 3 going into R19 is a good number.  Currently I have 5 and Im planning one this week, and one over the next fortnight.  Then three more for the year.  Of these 5 I can see two sideways, two upgrades and one downgrade.  I have $ in the bank to upgrade this week.  Any less trades and I could not have the opportunity to roll with the punches, any more and I would have probably been in a stuffed position in leagues...well more than I am already (yes TS50 almost season over I admit).

So onto the quick decisions that need to be made by tomorrow evening:
    <!--more-->

    FRESH MEAT:
One to watch in defence is Ashley Smith who got a run from the Eagles and got over 90 on debut.
Jarryd Blair is a little ripper player for the Pies who will get a few more runs, but I cant see him being in the Pies best 22 for finals.  Maybe will get another 3 but Id avoid if you want someone playing r19-22.  In the Pies pecking order he is a shade ahead of Macaffer/McCarthy/OBree but behind the current injured players who will need to return to a full-strength Pie outfit (Davis/Medhurst/Maxwell/Dick)
Strijk from the Eagles is still relatively cheap for a downgrade
Forwards I was going to pick Daniel Stewart in my original team.  Has talent and now getting the opportunity he deserves; Id imagine will get a good run from Primus.  At 170k, Id say this week is the one to get on at the latest.

    CATCH THE TRAIN:
Mathew Stokes is on the up and up, what a big game performer.  Will get more points as the Cats need game time into him as the season goes.  Im thinking a good run in the next few.
Goodes is now on the up.  Thank goodness he got a midfield role and was back to Goodes of old. Hoping he will stay in the midfield for the good of my team.
If you want a defensive upgrade, Lake again is in the mid 500s, and going up so could be good to get him.  He is the one they wax off in defence, and it hasnt changed much this year; he is the go to man at the Dogs.  His contested marking and ball work is also exceptional.  A regret for not getting him earlier in the year.
Ablett and Chapman are both under 600k.  But I guess theyve done their SuperCoach job for the year, put the cue in the rack?

    ON THE NOSE:
Nick Riewoldt is.  But Im thinking not for long.  He showed enough in the highlights to suggest he will start purring in the late rounds.  Unlike most Im thinking St Kilda wont rest him or manage him slowly but will look to give him max game time (outside the next 2 or 3 weeks) so he is cherry ripe for finals.  On the nose now means buy in 2-3 weeks.  Im thinking about 450 - a steal.
Not too many up the pointy end are on the nose.  Giansiracusa and Sam Fisher maybe, but thats a fairly long bow.  Would not be trading them out, but might consider getting them in a few weeks.

And now for the Best Buys for this week.
DEF: Lake is the one that springs to mind here.  Newman has started scoring so Richmond has improved (or vise versa).  Lots of decent sideways or upgrade value in the 400s.  If you need the replacement for Maguire or any other defender youll find it here.  There are more than enough to fit in any side.
FWD: Franklin at 550 is a bit high for me, and is due a down week.  But he is the 2nd most productive forward, so is a smart upgrade.  Other than that Pavlich is a ripper buy.  Most of the other forwards I think are over the odds, so Id be waiting a week or so, particularly on St Nick.  But also on Jumping Jack and Delicious Rioli.  Both are slightly too expensive to consider a great buy, but have great current form.
RUC: Not a huge gap between 2nd best and the rest, so you should stick with what you have.  That said Naitanui might be a risk to keep in finals, and there is some decent players like Jolly and Tippet finding their mojos again.
MID: The 550-600 zone represents excellent value.  Players of the ilk of Judd, Selwood and Pendlebury are there.  If you have all 3 of these, you could look at Cross or Montagna.  For a cheaper option, Bartel is always appearing to be good value (and that last round WCE game at SS should be up his alley).  For a more expensive, Id go Swan over NDS.  Swan from here should pump out the 135 zone in the Pies run at the MCG.

Gotta go, but until next week, happy trading.
