Alright guys, the stats pages have been rolled over into the 2012 season. So its at this time that Id like to once again, do a quick run through of the functionality that we have here at TS.
Well, at least give you a walk through of the Stats and Players features!
Join us over the break to read more. (Heck, even if you think you know every in and out of this place, youll still probably find the recap refreshing. And hey, theres important info at the bottom of the post.)
<!--more-->
So, lets take a look at the stats page, actually, first, well look at the Filter.
<div style="float:left"><img src="http://tooserious.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/TS_Filter.png" width="470px">
Now, when people first come here, I tend to get a few questions on the Filter - but its quite simpler than it looks. Just remember, that each field you click on will restrict the players that come back! So if you click on CAR, youll get Carlton players. If you then click on "DEF", youll get Carlton defenders. Then if you remove the Carlton filter by clicking on All, it will just show defenders.
On trick, if youre quick enough, is to click on multiple filters at once. This will apply all the filters at once and make it faster for you to get to the data you want!
And speaking of said data, lets take a look.
<div style="float:left"><img src="http://tooserious.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/TS_StatsResults.png" width="470px">
From this screen, you have access to a lot of statistic, more than you might imagine. However, the key statistic that youll need for your day-to-day fantasy play are there in front of you. The most important of these throughout the year are the Break Even column and the Salary Movement fields (Next Round and Movement 3 Rounds). These fields inform you what a player needs to score next week in order to *not* lose any salary, however, it also shows you the effect on salary a player will get next week if they score to their average again. Essential data when planning your trades!
These arent the only stats here however, there are both Fantasy stats and Basic Stats available, and both of these option offer more options through the use of the "Select Stats to display" button.
Fantasy Stats
<div style="float:left"><img src="http://tooserious.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/TS_FantasyStats.png" width="470px">
Its also here where you are able to update the amount of rows shown each time you look at the stats page!
Basic Stats
<div style="float:left"><img src="http://tooserious.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/TS_BasicStats.png" width="470px">
As youd imagine, all very important stats!
Manage your team
See that manage button next to each player? Mouse over it. (If you have a resolution of 1000 or less however, you will want to go into your profile, and check the box saying that youre using TooSerious on a small resolution - Or else the box will go off the side of the screen!)
<div style="float:left"><img src="http://tooserious.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/TS_AddToTeam.png" width="470px">
While the team uploader hasnt been upgraded yet to run in 2012, you can still manually add your players to any teams, or watchlists that you create in your profile. Simply mouse over Manage, and select which list you want to add them to. These lists enable you to quickly get a feel for how your team is looking, but is also used in the Live Scoring pages to enable you to keep an eye on your squad.
And finally, because this post is getting a little large, Ill close out on perhaps the single greatest tool on this site. The Calculator.
See that little calculator next to Ablett? Click it.
<div style="float:left"><img src="http://tooserious.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/TS_AblettCalc.png" width="470px">
This screen will let you track and predict salary movements into the future. This Ablett will go on a spree of 200s, plug them in an look at the effect. Or alternatively, you could click on so of the pre-defined amounts (Average, Average over 3 games and Average against the team they are playing.). In the above graph, Ive used the Average against the team (Or A/A as its called there). Ive also clicked on the button to bring in his last 2 years of salary movement so we can see how his seasons tend to do. This helps to identify any seasonal trends, but also helps us to see the effect of Magic Number degradation. (MN Degradation?!? Its a long explaination, but the short version is- if a player gets their average from last year, their salary will go down. Just use the Average preset and see for yourself!
It also lets us see seasonal trends, as I mentioned above. The most famous of these is Adam Goodes, check him out.
<div style="float:left"><img src="http://tooserious.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/TS_GoodesCalc.png" width="470px">
Interestingly, based on his Average Against, it looks like hell be spending another year where he has a slow start- so perhaps it could be a good idea to not start with him - with the idea being to upgrade to him once hes bottomed out.
Now of course, this is just a small part of the power that this tool enables you, so have a play, share any findings and let me know what you think! (or if theres any other questions, feel free to ask! - ie, tab off a number to get it to recalculate! Theres no need to press any "recalculate" button)
Onto that important info I mentioned at the start of the post - Theres still plenty of features that need to be given the ol collage upgrade to 2012, The Ticker, Brownlow, Team Uploads and they will all be getting here soon. However, Im going to need to roll over the Donor list onto the 2012 list tomorrow (Sunday), in order to get everyone who has donated thus far, properly onto the list! So if you find a bunch of ads that havent been here before, or maybe youre annoyed at the restricted number of rows- you know what to do!!
TooSerious stats are rolled over for the 2012 season.
