Interesting list Holey, a little surprised to see Greene that high and Redden that low, but a great reference point.

Understand you have to have a cutoff, but if you would humour me it would be appreciated, as I have these three all under consideration, pretending Bower, Tomlinson & Sumner were a few k cheaper, where on that list would you place them?

Cheers

is this from SC and the most popular picks for rookies or is this a list made by yourself holey? im thinking its not including yagmoor, bugg, etc as its rookies only.

although i am surprised gibson from kangas isnt on there

edit: tom ledger isnt a rookie though

When he uses the term rookie, as the thread title suggests, its anyone below 150K.

While in AFL terms these players may not be 'rookie listed' players, they are rookies in SC terms.

@stkildathunda

How do you find out what percentage of teams own them?

What are peoples thoughts on some of these rookies. ie Is Miles a must have, or all of the top 10 listed here must haves?

So far I have 2,3,6,7,9,11,17,22,26.

At the moment I have 2, 3, 5, 9, 13, 17, 24, 26, 27 and 3 guys who aren't even on this list.

Clearly in my opinion not all of the top 10 on that list are essential starters.

Absolutely not a must have. You're rookie selection is pretty spot on imo. Get Redden in your side though. I'm also not sold on Kerridge..not sure all the hype at this stage. He is probably the one i'm not going with.

Interesting thing about the Rookies this year is the lack of absolute "must have" players. This time last year we all had Heppell, Lower, Swallow, Stanley, Tapscott, Smith and Darling in our sides, then a few differences from there. This year there are 20 conceivable and justifiable rookie structures, and apart from the Magnet and Giles no one assured of being in most teams, and very few really showing great pre-season form.

Should make for a really interesting year - particularly for GnR coaches. Guess right, and you could jump the pack early, but get it wrong and it could be a long, cold winter of discontent :D

I currently have 5 not on the list (out of 16 under $150k players in the GnR). I'm either a genius or a complete nutter.

It seems there are more mature aged rookies in the mix this season,
would it be wrong to expect more from a 24 y/o than an 18 y/o at equal price?

I disagree - I think most teams will have close to the same rookies and will take a few risks from coaches to skip the pack.

The GWS rookies are locked in for most teams, Darley, Giles, McDonald and D Smith. If you choose an alternate GWS rookie who does well you may jump the pack. Bugg and Hampton are two that may escape most teams I have my eyes on.

Everyone will have Magner, Ellis and Redden.

Then I think it will be a mix of Ledger, Stevens, Morris, Smedts, C Smith, Kerridge, Cripps, Gibson, filling the last couple of spots. I can't see too many others getting a gig.

Nice work Holey.

Spurr was the only 1 of that 30 not on my radar.
From your list + some,
here it is with dates of birth, position & current status on senior or rookie list...
Geelong & GWS only show a total player list, all other teams clearly define rookies from seniors lists,
so for them it's stated rookie from senior where i know, but until they update sites there are some, where I'm unsure who's on what list...(I think GWS are allowed to call almost entire list on extended seniors list)
