Judd returns to his "rightful" spot at the top of the leaderboard at the conclusion of round 15. Â Both he and the perma-captain - the pair that have gone 1-2 over the last two years - were the main movers this week, both very influential in their teams wi...ah, games. Â Which leads me to the following statement: Ablett is the biggest mystery surrounding this years count.
He will cleary get most votes for his team. Â THAT - you can put the house on. Â And quote me. Â But how close will he go to winning? Â His form since his monster game in round 8 has been terrific, but how many 3s can he pull when he is constantly playing in a losing side? Â He has a history of polling 3s, but he also has a history of being in a winning team...
What about precedence?  You have to go way back to 1936 when Denis Ryan won playing at Fitzroy, polling 26 votes from a total of 18 games that included just a measly 2 wins!  Its hard to find the similarities though - Den played at Centre Half Back that year, and there were only 12 teams running around then.  And there was never any chance of a carbon tax...
What may tip it in the little masters favour, is if there is a low count - which its shaping up to be. Â Judd and Boyd lead my count at 18, whereas in the last two years the leader has been on 22 at this stage, and finished with 30. Â Cooney however had 19, and finished with 24 back when he won in 08.
If it stays under 25....who knows.
