KEEPER LEAGUE  review by bgt2110

Rigil Kentuarus (101) lost to Canuck Warriors (128)

In one of the great rivalries it was the Canucks who triumphed by 27 points in a runaway win. For the Canucks Matt Bryant kicked the lights out with 17fpts, equally admirable were Foster, Ridley, Maclin and RG3 who was dominant in his first game as a rookie QB. For my mob Julio Jones looks like he could be in for a breakout year whilst Cutler and Gore tried hard in defeat. All i can say is there is always next week....well not for Toby Gerhart anyway !!

&nbsp;

Bradys Bunch (90) lost to Billy Bass (107)

A nice 17 point win for Billy over Bradys Bunch. Billy had an even spread of scorers across the board with Rodgers, Bradshaw, Sproles and Bradford leading the way. Bradys Bunch had good scoring from Rice and Alex Smith, however eating a donut by playing Matt Flynn as number two QB cost the team and no doubt they will be searching the waivers for a starting QB this week.

&nbsp;

Candlestick 49ers (101) lost to Canton Bullldogs (103)

Match of the round with the Bullldogs (3 ls no less) getting up by just 2 points over an unlucky 49ers outfit. The 49ers have already flagged their interest in a RB with Turner, Wells and Williams combining for a grand total of 4 fpts. On the positive side they had huge performances from Brees, Lance Moore, Ravens d/st and Steves favourite kicker David Akers who equalled the record for longest field goal of 63 yards. For Canton, Peyton Manning showed he can still drive the length of the field with his no huddle offence while the two "f"s Flacco and Forte showed they are going to be valuable players for the Bullldogs.

&nbsp;

Jimbos Juggernaut (87) lost to The Jug-O-Naughts (125)

In a battle between the two "jugg er nauts" it was Fez who came out the winner with a powerful display of fantasy football with big scores across all lines. Matt Ryan looks an inspired pick and in combination with Tom Brady it is a "dream team" QB set up. Andre Johnson, Miles Austin and the Eagles d/st all got it done for the Jug-O-Naughts and with Adrian Petersen waiting in the wings things could get messy...LOOK OUT !! For Jimbos team it all came to naught apart from Romo, McCoy and Hernandez who all put in solid efforts.

&nbsp;

Welcome back Mr Wallace (93) lost to Team Simonoz (102)

Mr. Wallace was unlucky in this matchup with Fred Jackson going down early with a knee injury, however Spiller looks like a more than worthy replacement. Brandon Marshall looks like an inspired pick whilst Jimmy Graham was always going to do well. Chris Johnson can only get better while the law firm, BenJarvus Green-Ellis could be in for a grand season. For the victors Vick scored 15 fpts in a low scoring Eagles v Browns game, Kevin SMith looks the goods in Detroit whilst McFadden and Dez Bryant look dangerous. I expect big things from both of these teams.

&nbsp;

Team Stowie (113) won vs Waitos Warriors (103)

In a high scoring affair it was Team Stowie that took the chocolates from a very competitive warriors outfit. For Stowie it was double digit scores across all lines with Garcon, Shonn Greene, the Gronk and Jets d/st the highlights. For the warriors they can only get better with Trent Richardson still finding his feet but with Alfred Morris getting most of the running looks in Washington there are plenty of options open to the warriors. With Rivers and Roethlisberger in the QB position, the number 1 receiver in Calvin Johnson and the Texans defence banging heads Stowie will be pleased to be leaving the warriors home turf with the win.

LEAGUE 1 REVIEW COURTESY OF STOWIE

Team Stowie (stowie) 76 vs Jimbos Juggernaut (jimbowan) 80
--
Jimbos only needed 5 points from kicker Sebastian Janikowski in the last game of the round to grab the win against Team Stowie, and he got them and more. Both teams first round picks were disappointing with the RB formally known as CJ2K only delivering 4fpts for Stowie while QB Stafford (12fpts) threw 3 INTs to upset Jimbo. RB Matt Forte tried hard to get Team Stowie a W with 18fpts, but it was Jimbo with TE Jimmy Graham (14fpts) and the Eagles D/ST (13fpts) getting the season of to a good start.

Vicks Dog Fighters (Fez) 131 at Adelaide Maggotz (Maggots) 121
--
Maggotz will be disappointed to not get the win here as his 121 wouldve knocked off any of the other teams. Fezs team of auto draft superstars took the win despite having to carry RB DeAngelo Williams (0fpts) and TE Fred Davis (3fpts). QB Matt Ryan (31fpts) more than made up for them. For Maggotz, WR Julio Jones (22fpts) benefited from Matt Ryans big game. Both players are a big chance of breaking out and having massive fantasy years.

Under Achievers (Under Achievers) 79 at TooSerious TooSeriousesses (walesy) 106
--
UAs wouldve been happy with Romo (24fpts) starting the season well in the early game and giving him hopes of a big score. However it was the TooSeriousesses fighting back led by RB Stevan Ridley (20fpts) and Big Ben Roethlisberger (15fpts). The chiefs favourite player, MJD (8fpts), got plenty of work in the 2nd half for the Jags and the TooSeriousesses will hope his workload continues to grow as he definitely owes him one.

Massillon Tigers (Johnson) 85 at Team Wiggles (Wiggles) 97
--
Wiggles missed out on Brady this year but has to be happy with keeping  RB Adrian Peterson (20fpts) in the starting line up. WR Demaryius Thomas (18ftps) is happy to have QB Peyton Manning in town and is another player with a chance at breaking out this season. Massillon Tigers were led by RBs Ray Rice (20fpts) and Frank Gore (17fpts) and WR Jeremy Maclin (15fpts) but really fell off after that allowing Wiggles title defence to get off to a dream start.

Lilydale Leather Heads (bgt) 87 at Show Me Ya TDs (wateman) 78
--
Lilydale got the job done here thanks to QB Drew Brees (21fpts), the Texans D/ST (16fpts) and K David Akers (16fpts), who equalled the record for longest field goal. An unusual bunch of leading scorers so it will be interesting to see how the Leather Heads go next week. TDs had RB Kevin Smith (20fpts) and Brady (17fpts) try hard, but it wasnt quite enough.

Week 2 Matchups
--
Lilydale Leather Heads (1-0) at Vicks Dog Fighters (1-0)
Team Stowie (0-1) at Under Achievers (0-1)
Jimbos Juggernaut (1-0) Jim Robinson at Show Me Ya TDs (0-1)
Adelaide Maggotz (0-1) at Massillon Tigers (0-1)
TooSerious TooSeriousesses (1-0) at Team Wiggles (1-0)

LEAGUE 2 REVIEW COURTESY OF KARLOS

<a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequick?leagueId=822150&amp;teamId=1&amp;scoringPeriodId=1&amp;seasonId=2012&amp;view=scoringperiod&amp;version=quick">Kings of Karlos @ Team Mayhem

&nbsp;

Things didn’t start well for Mayhem on Wednesday with his no 1 receiver Nicks scoring just 3.  Not much changed Sunday as only 1 of his active 6 players for the day scored double figures being the 49ers kicker Akers with a 16.  Conversely the Kings had a good Sunday with Brady and Johnson leading the way with 17 each.  There was still hope for Mayhem though as the Kings were carrying a 0 and 1 after some poor selection decisions.  Unfortunately for Mayhem whilst Monday saw double figure scores from Rivers and McFadden it wasn’t enough with the Kings prevailing 87-68.

<a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequick?leagueId=822150&amp;teamId=2&amp;scoringPeriodId=1&amp;seasonId=2012&amp;view=scoringperiod&amp;version=quick">Team Walles @ Alberquerque AZTECS

&nbsp;

Mediocre performance from both teams quarterbacks saw this battle come down to who got the best from their running backs.  Lethals strong core of MJD and Gore and a career game from Spiller set things up even after getting next to nothing from his defence and kicker.  The AZTECS just didn’t get enough from their first pick in the draft – McCoy nor his Falcons duo of Turner and White who turned in 11 between them.   Even so the AZTECS still had a chance on Monday but unfortunately Meachem couldn’t do what was required as Team Lethal took the win 86-76.

<a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequick?leagueId=822150&amp;teamId=6&amp;scoringPeriodId=1&amp;seasonId=2012&amp;view=scoringperiod&amp;version=quick">AllGuts NoGorey @ Wantirna Dum Dum’s

&nbsp;

NoGorey got off to a handy 9 point lead on Wednesday as Bradshaw outscored last years surprise packet Cruz.  Things only got worse for the Dum Dum’s Sunday as the opposition ATL duo of Ryan and Bryant went off for 48 between them!  The Dum Dum’s didn’t receive double figures from a single RB or WR whereas NoGorey received solid contributions from Martin, Johnson and Davis all complementing the outstanding work of Ryan, Bryant and Bradshaw.  This one was a bit of a non contest with NoGorey being installed as the early season favourites with a 114-75 win.

&nbsp;

<a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequick?leagueId=822150&amp;teamId=7&amp;scoringPeriodId=1&amp;seasonId=2012&amp;view=scoringperiod&amp;version=quick">Team Short @ Bron’s Allstars

&nbsp;

Both teams went into this game starting an elite quarterback so the matchup was likely to be won elsewhere.  Team Short the beneficiary of the 1st pick in the draft got great service from his first pick Rodgers but this was matched by Julio Jones his 2nd pick – only one week in but you have to say great drafting.   On the flipside the Allstars failed to get the performance they were looking for from one of last years stars Welker who produced just 1 and even copped a -1 from Williams the Arizona RB.  Tough to win from that point even with Short carrying an injured Jackson as the teams basically broke even across the remaining categories seeing an easy win to Short 105-73.

<a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequick?leagueId=822150&amp;teamId=4&amp;scoringPeriodId=1&amp;seasonId=2012&amp;view=scoringperiod&amp;version=quick">Team Coleman @ Mount Gambier MontSTARS

MontSTARS got off to a great start Wednesday as Romo lit up the defending champions for 23 points.  Always going to be tough from their  for Coleman but his QB Stafford is a gunner so you never know, unfortunately he underperformed which was to be the story of the matchup.   Only 2 Coleman players scored in double figures with a high of 15 from his Flex Maclin.  The MontSTARS on the other hand got 17’s from Marshall and the always fierce Ravens defence.  It was all bookended by a great performance from Ray Rice who ticked off 20 points ensuring an easy win for his team 94-59.

&nbsp;

<a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequick?leagueId=822150&amp;teamId=8&amp;scoringPeriodId=1&amp;seasonId=2012&amp;view=scoringperiod&amp;version=quick">Clovelly Kookaburras @ Team Greer

&nbsp;

What a great matchup this proved to be with the teams tied on 96 at the conclusion of all games.  The Kookaburras were led well by Forte and Thomas with solid contributions from Vick, Graham and Murray.  Team Greer got great play from the QB Cutler, the best running back in the game Foster and a tough Jets defence.  On Monday Greer went ahead by 4 with 7 from his kicker Nugent but the Kookaburras still had Heyward-Bay to play.  With 12 minutes to play in the Raiders game scores were tied after a 20 yd reception from Heyward-Bay but he couldn’t complete another reception and scores remained tied at 96.
