LEAGUE 2 REVIEW BY KARLOS
<a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequick?leagueId=822150&teamId=1&scoringPeriodId=2&seasonId=2012&view=scoringperiod&version=quick">Team Coleman @ Kings of Karlos
This was an ugly matchup from start to finish with Team Coleman once again struggling to find players who can score in double figures. This week only Stafford could crack dub figs with a 12, the next best was a pair of 8’s from Maclin and Nelson but you simply aren’t going to win many matchups with performance like that. KOK on the other hand had 5 players in double figures but none higher than the disappointing to date Brady (issues with Giselle perhaps??). However TC were still alive in the matchup till late after an injury and 0 from Hernandez and a -7 from the Raiders D – bad call here as the Bears were left on the bench with a 9. The 20 left on the bench in the form of Danny Amendola would have got TC over the line here. KOK very lucky to be 2-0.
<a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequick?leagueId=822150&teamId=6&scoringPeriodId=2&seasonId=2012&view=scoringperiod&version=quick">Allguts Nogorey @ Team Walles
Allguts Nogorey looked to take their good week 1 form away to Team Walles but travel did not take kindly to Nogorey. An injury to Bradshaw, a donut from the number 3 ranked WR Fitzgerald and a surprise belting for the Cowboys D were always going to make things tough. Team Walles on the other hand again got a massive game from Spiller who is quickly rising up the RB rankings. This was complemented by Newtons 25 and solid performances from Gore, Wallace and Crosby. Ryan and Davis tried hard but Ryan in particular couldn’t repeat the heroics of last week for Nogorey. Team Walles wins this 116-78 and goes 2-0, one of only 2 undefeated teams.
<a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequick?leagueId=822150&teamId=5&scoringPeriodId=2&seasonId=2012&view=scoringperiod&version=quick">Albuquerque AZTECS @ Team Short
Team Short were looking to go 2-0 after a very good first up performance whilst the AZTECS were looking to avoid a 0-2 hole. AZTECS didn’t get enough from their first pick McCoy last week and nor did they again this week but a career game from Bush (who he then immediately traded – will have to see if this is genius or madness!) and a huge game from Eli who just kept gunning on the way to 26 set up the win. White and Turner also turned in good performances. Team Short couldn’t get it going this week with things starting poorly with a Rodgers 10 (ouch) and Jones turning in a 1 after scoring 22 in week 1 (that’s more than ouch folks). Wayne, Sproles and Austin tried hard but it just wasn’t enough against the even AZTECS attack who took this one out 105-77 and broke the duck.
<a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequick?leagueId=822150&teamId=12&scoringPeriodId=2&seasonId=2012&view=scoringperiod&version=quick">Wantirna Dum Dum’s @ Brons’ Allstars
Wow is all I can say.
Ok it’s not but what a stunning turnaround for the Dum Dum’s who after being mediocre in week 1 more than doubled their week 1 total. You have to feel a tad sorry for Brons’ Allstars who now fall to 0-2 and never had a shot in this one once Sunday arrived. Brons’s got a great Thursday from the Packers D and was off to a flyer up 21 going into Sunday, Brees kept things ticking with a 19 but that was where the party ended. This game is all about the Dum Dum’s who got 3 20+ scores including a 30 for RG3, 25 from the rookie Richardson and 23 from the smooth shaven Cruz. This was backed up by a pair of 18’s from Lynch and Jackson, 16 and 13 from the ‘kowski’s, 11 from the Texans D. Amazingly things could have been even better with Jones scoring a 0 at the flex and Ingrams 11 left on the bench. Never seen anything like this score, well done Dum Dum’s who now go to 1-1 after a 154-81 win.
<a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequick?leagueId=822150&teamId=3&scoringPeriodId=2&seasonId=2012&view=scoringperiod&version=quick">Team Mayhem @ Clovelly Kookaburras
Team Mayhem were another team to bounce back after a less than stellar week 1. Great performances from Rivers, Nicks and Bowe who all eclipsed the 20+ point mark meant the magical 3 figures was easily in reach but they only just got there after little from the rest of his squad with only Jackson at the flex and Akers also getting to double figures. The Clovelly Kookaburras who had a draw in week 1 didn’t perform as well this week with only Vick, Graham and Thomas cracking it for double figures. No contributions above 7 after that meant that TM’s 100 was bridge too far taking this one 100-77.
<a href="http://games.espn.go.com/ffl/boxscorequick?leagueId=822150&teamId=11&scoringPeriodId=2&seasonId=2012&view=scoringperiod&version=quick">Mount Gambier Montstars @ Team Greer
Team Greer the other team involved in last weeks 96 all draw are certainly consistent tunring in a 98 on the back of great RB performances from McGahee and Foster who both went 20 or more. An uncharacteristic 7 from Manning meant a monster scored wasn’t attained but it would prove enough. The Mount Gambier Montstars got a great 21 from Tate who actually outscored his teammate Foster but this is where the joy ended with only Rice putting in a decent performance. 12’s from Williams and Romo weren’t going to be enough when the remaining 5 players only delivered scores of 5 or less. Team Greer gets off the mark with a 98-73 win.
LEAGUE 1 REVIEW BY STOWIE
Lilydale Leather Heads (bgt) 143 at Vicks Dog Fighters (Fez) 78 --
Wow! Things can certainly change in a week and Im sure Fez will tell you all about it. This matchup saw the weeks highest score defeat the lowest creating a massive margin. The Leather Heads were led by RB Reggie Bush (32fpts) and WR pair Victor Cruz (24fpts) and Dwayne Bowe (22fpts) with only RB Shonne Greene (2ftps) failing to hit double figures. For Fez his RB trio of Foster (20fpts), Beastmode Lynch (18fpts) and the Law Firm (10fpts) making up a large percentage of the teams score.
Team Stowie (stowie) 87 at Under Achievers (UnderAchievers) 88 --
UAs got exactly what was need from WR Roddy White (16fpts) to pip Team Stowie in the final minutes of MNF. Hakeem Nicks (25fpts) was also huge benefitting from the 510 yards thrown by Eli Manning (27fpts) who led Stowie. CJ0K (2fpts) again disappointed for Stowie while UAs wont be too happy with WR Larry Fitzgerald (0fpts).
Jimbos Juggernaut (jimbowan) 92 at Show Me Ya TDs (wateman) 83 --
Jimbo moves to 2 wins from 2 games and leaves TDs at the opposite end with 2 losses. Jimbos will be happy with the form of RB CJ Spiller (28fpts) who backed up from last weeks big game with an even bigger effort this week. The TDs might consider moving QB RG3 to the starting line up, joining fellow rookie RBs Trent Richardson and Doug Martin. I wonder if Wiggles is a sneaky chance of trading for Tom Brady...
Adelaide Maggotz (Maggots) 48 at Massillon Tigers (Johnson) 109 --
The other big scorer from Week 1, Maggotz, has also failed to back it up in Week 2. An early injury to TE Hernandez and a WR that wasnt able to get near it in Robert Meachem meant Maggotz had two goose eggs leaving K Mason Crosby (14fpts) as their leading scorer. Johnson and his Tigers will be excited by the game of Cam Newton (25fpts) looking more like the player that started off last season with a big bang. WR Vincent Jackson (18fpts) also had a nice day out.
TooSerious TooSeriousesses (walesy) 77 at Team Wiggles (wiggles) 109 --
Wiggles saved his best for last with his trio of Broncos RB McGahee (24ftps), WR Thomas (13fpts) and TE Tamme (1fpts) doing enough in the late game to pull him clear. For walesy TE Vernon Davis (19fpts) and RB MJD (12fpts) led the way but no one else managed to crack double figures. Wiggles will spend the week contemplating keeping Vick (21fpts) or possibly working something out with the TDs to bring his hero home.
Week 3 matchups --
Show Me Ya TDs (0-2) at Under Achievers (1-1)
Massillon Tigers (1-1) at Vicks Dog Fighters (1-1)
Team Wiggles (2-0) at Team Stowie (0-2)
Adelaide Maggotz (0-2) at TooSerious TooSeriousesses (1-1)
Jimbos Juggernaut (2-0) at Lilydale Leather Heads (2-0)
KEEPER LEAGUE REVIEW BY BGT2110
Canuck Warriors (120) def Candlestick 49ers (100)
Canuck go to 2 - 0 with a comfortable win against the 49ers. The second week in a row Canuck has scored 120 or more ftps already has the rest of the league concerned at how to beat them. With Eli Manning and RG3 lighting it up for 56 ftps between them and Foster another 20 ftps things are looking ok down at the Canuck paddock. The 49ers are unlucky to be 0 - 2 having come up against quality opposition in the first 2 weeks. A positive for the 49ers is that they got a much better output from their RBs with Turner and Williams both in double figures whilst Brees and Vernon Davis were the best with 19 ftps each.
Bradys Bunch (76) def Rigil Kentaurus (62)
Well it all fell apart for Rigil this week managing a miserable 62 ftps, Gore and Crosby were admirable but the rest were pitiful with Gates failing to show up for the game whilst Julio and James Jones may as well have stayed home. The week was summed up with Cutler caught out on the sidelines shoving and abusing his teammates. For Bradys Bunch Alex Smith is proving it is not just the 49ers defence winning them games whilst Ray Rice keeps on showing why he is one of the best RBs in the league. The Bunch were able to wrap the contest up with a standout performance by Gonzalez in the final game of the round. Bring on round 3 where Rigil and Candlestick will do battle to see who can get that all important confidence building first win for the year.
Canton Bullldogs (116) def Billy Bass (111)
A high scoring battle royale between two winning teams from last week saw the bullldogs triumphant by only 5 ftps. The victors had 3 standout performances with Lynch, Nicks and Vincent Jackson proving too much for Billy to overcome. Canton will be concerned with Fortes injury but Ben Tate had one out of the bag this week with 21 ftps and could be a handy fill in if Forte doesnt come up in time. Billy would be thinking how did i lose that one with 7 of his starters all hitting double digit scores with both Dalton and Bowe getting 22 ftps each. What it does show is that Billys roster is strong and consistent across all lines and it is set up for a cracker of a match next week against Canuck.
Welcome back Mr Wallace (112) def Jimbos Juggernauts (110)
In the proverbial kick after the siren win it was Mr Wallace prevailing by just 2 ftps after having been equal hours after the contest had concluded. Both highly accomplished teams it was well worth the price of admission to witness this one go down to the wire. Mr Wallace can thank Carson Palmer who is proving to be a consistent scorer (ironic that Palmer would help to cause Jimbo to lose considering he is such a keen Raiders fan) whilst Spiller cemented his spot in the team with 28ftps. A win for Jimbo is just around the corner but this week it could be summed up by saying the good (Luck and Cruz) the bad (Charles) and the unlucky (Hernandez) all contributed to Jimbo heading into next week with a 0 - 2 record.
Team Stowie (124) def The Jug-O-Naughts (107)
The Aikman medal this week goes to team Stowie for having the highest weekly score and combined with his now 2 - 0 record Stowie is sitting pretty with a perfect record and a medal in his trophy cabinet. Cam Newton is showing why this new breed of passer/rusher QB is fantasy gold while McGahee, Wallace , Gronk and a never head of before kicker from Baltimore by the name of Tucker are all combining to form a winning outfit. For the Jug-O-Naughts a score of 107 would normally get you the win and if Reggie Bush can keep rushing for 172 yds and 2 TDs then normally you would be in the winners column. Finley and Stephen Hill spudded it up for a donut each but that only demonstrates what the Jug-O-Naughts could be capable of when all players play to their potential.
Waitos Warriors (110) def Team Simonoz (75)
A comfortable win for the warriors saw them take home this weeks Jerry Rice Trophy for the biggest winning margin of the round. The warriors have one of the strongest squads in this league and will do some damage before the season is out. Some great scores frm Rivers, Roethlisberger and Demaryius Thomas helped the warriors get the win. With Richardsons 25 ftps sitting on the bench and Doug Martin getting 12 ftps in the flex position im jealous. For Simonozs outfit Ponder and Vick are proving a nice QB combination having scored half of Simonozs team score between them whilst McFadden and Bryant would want to improve in time for next weeks game.
