THE KEEPER LEAGUE (REVIEW BY bgt2110)

    Jimbo’s Juggernaut (104) def Brady’s Bunch (85)

After a shaky start it was Jimbo who came away with a much needed win against the Bunch who would be ruing a lost opportunity to catch up with the leaders. I thought Romo(19) was going to have a stinker after a couple of early interceptions, one a pick 6 but he came back strongly to be the equal high scorer for Jimbo along with kicker Tynes(19) who is now the number 1 fantasy kicker. McCoy(18) and Luck(15) provided much needed scoring power after Charles (0) and Cruz(2) had very quiet days after some huge performances previously. The Bunch were well served by Alex Smith(21) and Vick Ballard(12) who has been a handy waiver pick up whilst Nelson(0) was a big late out with a niggling hamstring complaint.

Both teams now sit at 3-5.

Team Simonoz (89) def Canuck Warriors (66)

Simonoz bounced back this week to beat the highly fancied Canuck outfit who would feel this loss hard after surrendering their one game lead over everyone else. It makes the fight for top position in the league all the more interesting now that 3 teams are all sitting at 6-2. Simonoz welcomed back Vick(15) who is a vital contributor for Simonoz even though he is getting heat for the Eagles with some underwhelming performances, if he can really get his act together he is capable of putting up regular 30 ftps games. Brandon Lloyd(14) and McFadden(13) were invaluable whilst Ponder(13) is capable of much more. It was a rare down day for Canuck in front of a packed home stadium crowd but it failed to bring out the best in everyone except Ridley(18) and Jonathan Dwyer(10) who tried hard.

Simonoz are now 2-6 and Canuck are 6-2.

As a side note we all hope that Simonoz escaped the worst of Hurricane Sandy in New York and is safe and well.

    Waito’s Warriors (110) def Rigil Kentaurus(95)

The Warriors got off to a flyer when Doug Martin(32) caught everything and rushed pass everyone to have his best game of the season and Rigil could never quite catch up after that effort. The Warriors have class and high scorers across all lines and it must be proving difficult for them simply to decide who gets a gig each week and who warms the bench. Roethlisberger(20) and Demaryious Thomas(19), who is having a sensational season, helped to get the Warriors over the line whilst Richardson(19) and Crabtree(19) were sitting on the bench pushing their hopes for a starting gig next week. Rigil were rapt with Stafford(31) having a blinder and Julio Jones(18) showing his importance to the team while Gates(1) has to do better but he is not alone in that department.

Waito’s Warriors are 5-3 and Rigil Kentaurus 2-6.

    The Jug-O-Naughts (110) def Candlestick 49’ers (78)

In a recurring pattern for this round it was again the home team that lost, this time the 49’ers couldn’t use the home ground advantage to get over a strong Jug-O-Naughts outfit. The 49’ers started the season with some very unlucky losses but now they are just getting beaten by better teams, this time it was the Jugs with their high powered QB combination of Brady(28) and Ryan(23) who triumphed. Ryan looked like he was going to score a lot more with some early TD passes but took the foot off the pedal once the game was in hand. Peterson(16) is showing no ill effects from his ACL injury last year and is justifying the Jugs faith in him while Austin(13) chipped in for a double digit effort. The 49’ers will welcome back Schaub next week with open arms after Quinn(-1) actually did more damage than good whilst Vernon Davis(3) is having a rough patch at present. A big positive for the 49’ers is the form of Decker(16) who is good for a TD or two each week while the Giants d/st(19) is banging up opposition teams on a regular basis.  Brees(14) had a quiet one but continued his record breaking streak of 50 consecutive games with a TD pass.

    The Jug-O-Naughts are 5-3 and Candlestick 49’ers 1-7.

Canton Bullldogs(87) def Welcome back Mr Wallace (79)

In a rare sub 100 point game for Canton they were still able to get the win on the back of some standout performances from their highly rated players which include P Manning(24), Lynch (16), Forte(15) and Witten(16). An even spread of scores was not helped when Tannehill(0) had to leave the field early because of injury. Canton are one of the leading teams in the league and will be looking to consolidate their equal top position when they meet the Jug-0-Naughts next week in a mouth watering encounter. Mr Wallace was caught out when he played Brandon Myers(4) at TE instead of Jimmy Graham(12), an entirely understandable decision with Graham under an injury cloud. It caught out Mr Wallace this week like it has done to a lot of others but it is no coincidence that the eventual losing margin of 8 was the same as the difference between Myers and Graham. Mr Wallace also have a nice spread of QB options with Palmer(14) and Weeden(5) taking the field on the weekend in place of Wilson(15) and Gabbert(16) who were on the bench, again some tough decisions having to be made each week as to who gets the starting Guernseys, this week it didn’t pay off, next week.....who knows, will have to wait and see.

Canton Bullldogs 6-2 and Welcome back Mr Wallace 4-4.

    Team Stowie(126) def Billy Bass(68)

For the second week in a row Team Stowie dominates his opponent and again knocks up the highest score of the week, this time 126 points which is all the more impressive in a relatively low scoring week. The score was achieved on the back of the Gronk(26), Freeman(22) hitting some solid form, McGahee(19) and an impressive season so far from Harvin(15). The Bass this week would have hoped/expected better from their entire team, a score of 68 is just not going to cut it against most teams. Rodgers(13) did just enough to get GB the win while Sproles(11) and Bradford(10) were next best. Roddy White(3), Bradshaw(5) and Bowe(6) are usually good for at least double those scores but everyone is allowed a quiet one, mark this down as just that for Billy.  Stowie will be looking at continuing on with another highest score next weekend, who does he play i wonder....ohhh it is Rigil Kentaurus....just my luck.

Team Stowie 6-2 and Billy Bass 5-3.

    LEAGUE 1 (REVIEW BY Stowie)

    WEEK 8 RESULTS

Vicks Dog Fighters (Fez) 88 at Jimbos Juggernaut (jimbowan) 96

Big days from Stafford (32fpts) and K Tynes (19fpts) gave Jimbos the win in a top of the table, cross conference battle. Both teams copped a donut with WR Nelson a late out for Fez and RB Jamaal Charles not getting into the game for Jimbo. Fez will be hoping Peyton Manning (24fpts) continues his tear that started back in Week 3.

Under Achievers (UnderAchievers) 78 at Lilydale Leather Heads (bgt) 82

The Gronk (26fpts) will be giving UAs nightmares as he led the Leather Heads to a close victory. Romo (19fpts) with 4 interceptions will no doubt feature too. With four losses in a row now, UAs will need to get on heck of a run to challenge in playoffs.

Massillon Tigers (Johnson) 67 at Show Me Ya TDs (wateman) 126

The only blowout this week and TDs owes it all to rookie RB pair Martin (33fpts) and Richardson (19fpts). For this first time this season, TDs also got his QB position spot on with Tom Brady (28fpts) outscoring the benched RGIII (11fpts). For the Tigers, TE Witten (16fpts) had a big game and RB Ballard (12fpts) scored the winner for the Colts but it was no where near enough to put a scare in the TDs.

Adelaide Maggotz (Maggots) 87 at Team Wiggles (Wiggles) 92

Wiggles stopped their losing streak and Maggotz winning streak thanks to a pair of Broncos. McGahee and Thomas (19fpts) both stepped up when others, Cutler (5fpts) struggled. ADP (17fpts) continued an amazing comeback from a knee reco. Maggots wouldve been hoping for more from Rodgers (13fpts) but would be happy with the return from Decker (16ftps) and Julio Jones (19ftps).

Team Stowie (stowie) 66 at TooSerious TooSeriousesses (walesy) 65

Stowie had a nervous wait with TE Vernon Davis (3fpts) only needing 5 in the Monday game to give walesy the win, despite having two starters out with the bye. It wasnt to be though Big Ben (20fpts) and RB Ridley (18fpts) cant be blamed. Stowie was let down by the performance of Eli (5fpts) who didnt even look interested against the Cowboys.

    WEEK 9 SCHEDULE

Jimbos Juggernaut (6-2) at Under Achievers (3-5)
Show Me Ya TDs (3-5) at Team Wiggles (4-4)
Vicks Dog Fighters (5-3) at TooSerious TooSeriousesses (3-5)
Massillon Tigers (3-5) at Adelaide Maggotz (3-5)
